Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze spelling errors in social media posts on Instagram account @fasilkom.upnvjatim. The method used is descriptive qualitative analysis, where data is collected through direct observation of various captions posted. The most common spelling mistakes on the @fasilkom.upnvjatim Instagram account include improper capitalization, punctuation errors, and the use of words that are not in accordance with the rules. The results of the analysis show that of the 10 posts studied, there were 15 spelling errors, with 10 errors in word writing, 3 in the use of letters, and 2 in punctuation. Although the number of errors is relatively small, the impact on the credibility and effectiveness of digital communication is significant. To improve the quality of communication, it is recommended to implement editorial standards as well as training social media managers on the Indonesian General Spelling Guidelines (PUEBI).

Abstract

This research aims to describe the representation of sexual violence against women in the film Vina: Before 7 Days and its impact on public perception, as well as to contribute to filmmakers in depicting sensitive issues. The urgency of this research lies in the importance of increasing public awareness of the issue of sexual violence which continues to increase. The method used is a qualitative approach with semiotic analysis techniques based on John Fiske's perspective, which focuses on the interaction of signs and audiences in a cultural context. The main data consists of scenes in films that show sexual violence, supported by secondary data from news articles and journals. Data collection techniques include non-participant observation, literature study, and documentation, while analysis is carried out using the Miles & Huberman method, which includes data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions using theoretical triangulation. The results of this research show that the film "Vina: Prior 7 Hari" displays two scenes of sexual violence against women, namely harassment in the women's bathroom and rape by a motorbike gang, which is analyzed through John Fiske's semiotic theory, showing the reality of sexual violence, criticism of norms society, patriarchal domination, and social apathy which are reflected in reflective, intentional, and constructionist representations.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out how the representation of masculinity is constructed in the BCA advertisement "Don't Know? Give No using Rolan Bartes' semiotic analysis. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative method by describing research results and using data analysis methods by means of documentation and observation of research objects to make meaning using the theory used. The results of this research. In the BCA advertisement, there are three different myths representing masculinity, namely men are brave beings, men are leaders, men are rulers. The representation of masculinity in men built in advertisements is visualized as men who think critically, act calmly (slow down) and are brave men. A message that the community wants to convey to consumers is that taking a stand in dealing with fraudulent methods can increase the awareness of BCA customers to be more careful and always think critically to protect personal data.

Abstract

The representation of Asian people in western-produced films is sometimes the subject of discussion, there is a strong allegation that these films contain western discourses on Asians. A handful of researchers who examined the representation of Asians in past films argued that there was an allegation of strengthening the principles of western orientalism through the pananda system in films, some found that this orientalism led to exaggerated stereotypes against Asians, which even showed western superiority. With various racial problems that continue to occur in various parts of the world, the problem of stereotypes by favoring one ethnicity, race, and other nations compared to other groups, has implications for harmonious social relations between these different cultural groups. With John Fiske's semiotic approach (2003, 2010) which looks at the marking system of films, television shows, and moving images. The three sign levels, namely the Reality Sign Level, the Representation Sign Level, and the Ideology Sign Level, are expected to be used to read the sign system in recent shows that contain representations of Asian people, such as in the film Miss Marvel. The Miss Marvel film itself was chosen because it was considered capable of showing the dynamics of Asian culture in it. Whether there is an orientalism value in the film marking system, how it is used to build a perspective of representation will all be answered in the results of this study.

Abstract

The research to be conducted is aware that there is so much competition between businesses in the increasingly tight digital era in showing efforts to build marketing strategies to compete. As, the existence of a company requires building a strategy to increase the potential for brand awareness, efforts to promote a product in consumer trust. Various strategies that are important to grow a brand in the rapidly growing digital era, for activities in marketing marketing strategies. As an efficient digital marketing platform channel in online advertising to target consumers towards a brand they trust, by involving influencer marketing in a greater influence to reach consumers and have a greater influence, especially on social media. By strengthening a brand itself in increasing brand awareness of the wider community. The strategy used by wardahbeauty.jogja through Instagram to increase brand awareness, especially in the wider community, with the implementation of influencer marketing, it can be shown that the strategy carried out by wardahbeauty.jogja has successfully implemented influencer marketing, by collaborating through influencers on Instagram from the role of the public and targets that are in accordance with wardahbeauty.jogja. The method to be used in this study is descriptive qualitative by conducting interview sessions and participant observation. As researchers will use influencer marketing strategies, with the involvement of influencers on Instagram in consumer targets that are in accordance with Wardah products, brand awareness will increase.

Abstract

Profile videos are an effective promotional medium for introducing an organization or institution to the broader community. Shooting and voice-over techniques are important in conveying messages and creating visual appeal when making profile videos. This study analyses the shooting and voice-over techniques used in the CDA IPB profile video. The method in the research used is qualitative descriptive analysis with a case study approach. Data were produced through video observation and voice-over transcripts. The study results show that the CDA IPB profile video uses various shooting techniques such as bird’s eye view, low angle, high angle, frog eye, and eye level techniques. The shooting also considers the size of the image, such as close-up, full shot, knee shot, mid shot, long shot, and extreme long shot. The voice-over technique used in the CDA IPB profile video is the deep voice technique. Using appropriate shooting and voice-over techniques can create an engaging, informative, and compelling profile video that conveys messages to the audience.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of Najwa Shihab's "Peringatan Darurat Garuda Biru" post on public opinion, political discourse, and government policies in Indonesia following the 2024 elections. Focusing on criticisms of political dynasties and the dominance of mainstream media narratives, the study demonstrates how social media can serve as a critical tool in promoting transparency, accountability, and active citizen participation in democracy. Using a qualitative literature review approach, the study finds that the post effectively mobilized large-scale public opinion, creating significant pressure on the government to act with greater transparency and accountability. Furthermore, the post successfully broadened critical discussions within society. However, its long-term effectiveness is hindered by opinion polarization and the influence of digital media algorithms. These findings offer practical benefits by highlighting the importance of combining digital mobilization with tangible actions to enhance democratic quality. The study also raises awareness about challenges in digital public spaces, enabling citizens to approach digital information more critically and thoughtfully.

Abstract

Health products circulating in society are subject to many regulations, one of which is the marketing communication activities. Herbalife is one of the health products that has been available in Indonesia for quite some time and has many customers. This product has a marketing communication strategy that differs from other health products. Nutrition Club is a nutrition house that sells products from Herbalife, using eight elements in the marketing communication mix. These elements include advertising, sales promotion, event and experience, PR and publicity, direct marketing, interactive marketing, sales promotion, and personal selling. This research employs in-depth interviews with 10 Nutritional Clubs spread across Jakarta, Denpasar, and Yogyakarta. Research shows that all interviewed Nutrition Clubs use the eight elements of the marketing communication mix, but their focus varies based on consumer backgrounds and human resource capabilities. Limitations in these resources hinder effective segmentation and targeting, especially for millennials. However, educational communication and lifestyle strategies help boost consumer interest in some nutrition clubs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the communication strategy of the content planner on the RBTV Yogyakarta social media team. This study uses a constructivism paradigm with an analytical qualitative method approach. Data analysis uses the results of interviews, observations and supporting documents. Using the theory of communication strategy from Wayne Pace which states that communication strategy has three objectives including to secure understanding, to establish acceptance, and to motivate action. The results of the study are that the communication strategy carried out by the RBTV social media team has clear stages to achieve content success, the RBTV social media team uses stages such as setting content goals, mapping target markets, content idea planning strategies, and evaluation.

Abstract

Marginalized issue in the media doesn’t get portion in the mainstream media. Marginalized issue is the unprofitable for mainstream media because it brings the minimal profit. Moreover, the phenomenon of online media users in Indonesia is dominated by generation milineal dan generation Z. They are prefer reading the unqualified content than the qualified. As a result, the margininalized issue doesn’t get the interest for them. This research aims to see how the alternative media practice practice the collabolarative journalism to report the marginalized issue. Meanwhile, the alternative media places a portion of the news coverage on marginalized issue in the form of of indepth reporting. The alternative media in Indonesia is funded by funding such as NGOs, or research institutions to conduct the news production. Funding supports the alternative media because they lack of human resources and the media operating cost. This research used qualitative research with a case study approach. Researcher used the indept interview technique to gather the data. Researcher interviewed with the editorial team of Multatuli Project. The results of the study stated that the marginilized is a routine issue that published by the alternative media. Project Multatuli has chosen the marginalized issue because it encourage the society to aware for the this issue, particularly in Generation Milineal and generation Z. Project Multatuli wanted to develop the critical thinking from society in this issue. Furthermore, Project Multatuli has improved the collaboration between citizen and alternative media to find the solution about the marginalized issue in Indonesia. The data also showed that project Multatuli hasn’t used the rating approach to measure the traffic their news. Furthermore, the collaborative journalism has practiced by some parties, namely professional, individuals, NGOs, or other organizations that are interested with the marginalized issue. The party involved has done the reporting news collectively. On the process of making the indept news, they have shared the idea, interview with the source, and written the news. The whole of process of collaboration reporting has funded by donor that are also interested in the issue. Meanwhile, the parties who involved the collaboration reporting was responsible to disseminate the report of news to society through media channels and non media channels such us public discussions. This research has proved that alternative media still carries principle of the media as a watchdog, and facilitates society to discuss the marginalized issue. This research also stated that in the digitalization era, alternative media can still survive without using a rating approach.
