Abstract

Drug abuse has become a global phenomenon and poses a serious threat to society at local, national, regional, and international levels. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN), as the leading sector in the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN), has a policy direction in the field of rehabilitation aimed at improving rehabilitation facilities to enhance the quality of life of drug abusers, addicts, and/or victims of drug abuse (P2K). This study was conducted using mixed methods: a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with clients and significant others, and a quantitative approach by identifying and analyzing each variable in the WHOQoL-BREF in its impact on the quality of life of drug abuse victims. The study's findings indicate that the WHOQoL condition of outpatient clients is at a good level, with recovery and empowerment in both public and domestic spaces. This condition is not only influenced by the clients' and families' commitment and motivation but also by their experiences during rehabilitation services.

Abstract

The city is a complex reality that reflects the struggle for political, economic, and cultural spaces and resources amidst limitations and contingencies in achieving justice for all city residents. The concepts of the Right to the City and Urban Social Movements, as explored in urban political literature, serve as an exploratory framework for this qualitative-descriptive research. They help to understand the struggles for the right to the city through urban social movements in Karet Tengsin and Kampung Guji Baru, Jakarta. This study employs both primary and secondary data collection methods. Primary data were gathered through interviews with three key informants: two activists from Tim 9 in Karet Tengsin and one activist from Serikat Perjuangan Rakyat Indonesia (SPRI) in Kampung Guji Baru. These interviews were further supported by direct observation conducted over approximately one month in both areas. Secondary data, including literature from books, scientific journals, and media reports, complement the analysis and provide insights into the empirical realities of urban social movements by slum residents in Jakarta. The findings demonstrate distinct differences in the models, types, and demands of struggles for the right to the city as exhibited by Tim 9 in Karet Tengsin and SPRI in Kampung Guji Baru. Moreover, the empirical evidence descriptively concludes that the Jakarta government has yet to fully realize the right to the city, particularly in providing access to adequate housing and sustainable livelihoods (collective consumption).

Abstract

This paper examines the sociological and anthropological perspectives on household resilience in rural and urban communities. This research is grounded in significant social change, where values and social structure shifts impact how individuals and families sustain their existence. This study aims to understand how sociocultural factors influence household resilience strategies and compare the differences and similarities between rural and urban communities in this context. The methods used include literature studies. The theoretical framework for this research encompasses social structure theory, social network theory, and anthropological approaches that emphasize an in-depth understanding of cultural practices. The discussion results indicate that rural communities rely on community solidarity and tradition in building household resilience, whereas urban communities prioritize individualistic social networks. The implications of this research provide insights for policymakers and social practitioners in designing more effective intervention programs to enhance household resilience, considering each community's unique characteristics. This study is expected to contribute to the further development of research in the fields of sociology and anthropology, as well as offer a new perspective on understanding social dynamics in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the issue of religious universities in West Java exposed to radicalism. The purpose of this study was to find indicators of radicalism among students as a measuring tool for potential acts of radicalism among students. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method and a case study with in-depth interviews and participatory radicalism combined with quantitative data to collect data on the magnitude or statistical description of the percentage of students exposed to radicalism. From the results of the research conducted, it was found that the indicators of radicalism can be seen based on the attitude of the tendency to take radical actions based on four things, namely: (1) Intolerance, (2) Fanaticism, (3) Exclusivity, and (4) Revolutionary. The four attitudes show that students with these attitudes are included in the categorization of students who have the potential to act radically. Then the pattern of dissemination can occur through, (1) the spread of radicalism by means of direct meetings. This distribution is done through closed recitations with a limited number of participants. With the aim of conveying doctrine and preventing rejection (refutation) from other people who have wider religious knowledge and can reject the arguments of the proponent of doctrine. (2) Using technology by uploading videos and photos of their activities to invite movements they believe to be the most correct actions. (3) By doing propaganda through the news media which is spread through the telegram. This research has an impact on early detection of attitudes and characteristics of students who have the potential to carry out radical attitudes and actions. Then this research has an impact on strengthening and anticipating the possibility of radical actions in Islamic Religious Colleges in West Java.

Abstract

Children have fundamental rights that must be fulfilled by parents and guaranteed by the state. These rights are even mandated by the United Nations (UN) as part of efforts to protect children. This research raises the issue of protecting the rights of children who are employed underage, especially in the context of regulations that are still not entirely clear regarding child labor. This issue is important because children who work underage often face violations of fundamental rights, exploitation, and lack of access to education and social protection. This research is normative with a legislative approach and legal concept analysis. The research data source uses library materials, which include the 1945 Constitution, Law Number 13 of 2003 concerning Labour, ILO Conventions, and Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection. The study was conducted by analyzing laws and regulations related to child labor, identifying the weaknesses of existing rules, and providing legal analysis based on applicable legal concepts. The results show that although there is a legal basis governing child labor, its implementation and supervision are still weak. There is a need for more stringent regulatory updates and increased synergy between relevant agencies to ensure the protection of the rights of children working underage. In addition, a holistic approach is needed to prioritize children's rights, including education, health, and social security, to create an environment free from child exploitation.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the issues and causes of drug abuse through a community-based intervention program. The research employs a qualitative, descriptive approach. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, targeting the administrators of Cawang Subdistrict, East Jakarta, as program implementers, and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) as the government institution responsible for overseeing program execution in the field. The findings indicate that the community-based intervention program in Cawang Subdistrict addresses drug abuse through a series of activities, each with its own specific function, implemented progressively and continuously. There are six key implementation programs: socialization, mapping, outreach, early assessment, rehabilitation recommendations, and monitoring and recovery.

Abstract

The digital ecosystem is currently evolving rapidly, impacting various fields, including professions. Islamic boarding schools (Pondok Pesantren or Ponpes) as religious educational institutions face challenges in keeping up with the times, particularly in enhancing digital literacy competencies and leveraging them for career development in the virtual world. One potential profession is that of a Virtual Assistant (VA), which, in the context of Sharia economic law, falls under the concept of ijarah ‘alal ‘amal (contract of services). Ponpes al-Sa’adah in Bandung Regency envisions developing the potential of its graduates and the entire academic community through the utilization of digital literacy. Based on this premise, a Student Creativity Program (PKM) is necessary and aims to: (1) analyze the potential for developing digital literacy and life skills among the younger generation at Ponpes al-Sa’adah; (2) examine community engagement strategies to enhance digital literacy and mastery of life skills through the application of the ijarah ‘alal ‘amal concept in the VA profession within Ponpes al-Sa’adah; (3) analyze the implications of this program on improving digital literacy and life skills for the younger generation. This study employs the "ACTORS" theory by Steve MacCulay and Sarah Cook, using the ABCD method. The conclusions of this PKM are: (1) ponpes al-Sa’adah has significant potential to foster work ethics, digital literacy, and life skills through the application of the ijarah concept in Virtual Assistant roles; (2) community engagement strategies involve training on the ijarah concept, an understanding of Virtual Assistants, and the necessary skills to become a VA; (3) participants can understand and effectively practice VA skills while comprehending the application of the ijarah bil ‘amal concept in the VA profession.

Abstract

Online romance fraud is a form of cybercrime that exploits emotional manipulation to obtain financial gain or personal information. This phenomenon has become increasingly prevalent with the rise of internet usage in Indonesia. This study aims to evaluate Indonesia’s legal policies, such as the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) and the Criminal Code (KUHP), in addressing this issue, as well as to identify regulatory gaps and existing challenges. The findings are expected to provide recommendations for updating legal policies to be more adaptive to technological advancements, ensuring better protection for the public against online romance fraud. This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a normative juridical method that focuses on analyzing relevant laws and assessing their applicability in cases of online romance fraud. Secondary data from various legal literatures, case reports, and national surveys are used to evaluate the effectiveness of current regulations. The study finds that Indonesia’s legal policies on online romance fraud still have limitations, as the UU ITE and Article 378 of the KUHP do not specifically regulate crimes based on emotional manipulation in online relationships. Regulatory updates are needed to include clearer definitions, stricter sanctions, and effective reporting mechanisms, supported by digital literacy initiatives and international cooperation. Collaboration with digital platforms to enhance AI-based security measures and strengthen law enforcement capacity is crucial in creating a safer digital space.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of digital literacy among Generation Z based on local wisdom values, in countering cyber terrorism propaganda content. As an active internet-using demographic, Gen Z is particularly vulnerable to exposure to radical content due to a lack of information filtering skills. Using a qualitative approach, the study reveals that local cultural values embedded in the “Jabar Masagi” program—such as Niti Surti, Niti Harti, Niti Bukti, and Niti Bakti—has a potential modality to enhance Gen Z especially high junior students’ ability to evaluate and filter information, ultimately preventing the spread of cyber terrorism propaganda. These findings highlight the importance of integrating local wisdom values into digital literacy programs as a preventative measure against online radicalization, as well as the need for collaboration among various actors (government, educational institutions, and communities) in developing holistic digital literacy strategies.

Abstract

The sex industry in Indonesia is a phenomenon that has existed since the colonial era and has continued to develop both openly and covertly. The absence of explicit legal regulations on prostitution in Indonesia, combined with advancements in digital technology, has created new challenges in enforcing consistent regulations and has led to increased sexual exploitation, particularly of children. This study aims to explore the ambiguous regulations surrounding the commercial sex industry, focusing on voluntary sex work and sexual exploitation within the context of Indonesian law. This study employs a normative juridical research method, analyzing existing legal norms, including the Indonesian Penal Code, the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, and regional regulations governing prostitution. The findings indicate that Indonesia’s criminal policy targeting buyers of sexual services has not been entirely effective in reducing demand, as clients tend to shift to more discreet digital platforms. While this policy was expected to disrupt the industry, it has instead fostered the emergence of a black market that is more difficult to monitor, thereby increasing the risks of exploitation. Therefore, a more comprehensive policy approach is needed—one that not only focuses on criminalization but also ensures the protection of sex workers’ rights.
