Aksara merupakan jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Batanghari dan Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Batanghari. Jurnal ini merupakan jurnal penelitian yang mempublikasikan artikel hasil penelitian asli, studi kepustakaan, dan tulisan terkait dengan fokus pada kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, kajian bahasa dan kajian sastra. Semua artikel ditinjau oleh 4 orang reviewer, 2 orang reviewer internal dan 2 orang reviewer eksternal. Jurnal ini diterbitkan dua kali dalam satu tahun setiap bulan April dan bulan September, jurnal aksara ini dapat diakses pembaca, jurnal aksara ini berisi hasil penelitian pustaka maupun hasil penelitian lapangan. Jurnal ini meliputi beberapa ranah Ilmu sebagai berikut: 1. Kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia meliputi bidang pembelajaran keterampilan berbahasa, pembelajaran linguistik, pembelajaran semantik, pembelajaran pragmatik, pembelajaran wacana, pembelajaran sosiolinguistik, pembelajaran psikolinguistik serta pembelajaran puisi, pembelajaran prosa, pembelajaran fiksi, pembelajaran drama. 2. Kajian Bahasa Indonesia meliputi: fonologi, morfologi, sintaksis, analisis wacana, semantik, pragmatik, sosiolinguistik, psikolinguistik, bahasa dan budaya, dialektologi, dokumentasi bahasa, serta bidang keilmuan lain yang berkaitan dengan kajian kebahasaan. 3. Kajian Sastra Indonesia meliputi: sastra lisan dan sastra modern berupa kajian puisi, prosa fiksi dan drama.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of social criticism reflected by the author through his novel. The researcher uses Alan Swingewood's theory of literary sociology in viewing the social criticism that J.S Khairen wants to convey in the novel Melangkah. This study uses a qualitative method, with a type of library research. The results of the study indicate the existence of a form of social criticism by the author towards the gaps felt by most Indonesian people, especially Sumba Island. The form of gap experienced and highlighted by the author in this novel is the uneven development of infrastructure that can support the economy of the Sumba community. The forms of infrastructure inequality are inadequate electricity, transportation facilities, internet access, lack of clean water availability, inadequate road access and in terms of environmental cleanliness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of formative assessment questions in Indonesian language learning in Junior High School. Formative assessments play an important role in monitoring student learning progress and providing feedback for improving the learning process. However, the assessment instruments used need to meet quality criteria so that the assessment results obtained truly reflect students' abilities. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects were junior high school students who took part in the Indonesian formative assessment, while the research object was in the form of formative assessment questions in the form of multiple choice. Data was obtained from the results of the work on the questions by the students and analyzed using question item analysis techniques which included validity, reliability, difficulty, and differentiating power. The results of the study showed that the quality of formative assessment questions varied. Most of the question items have good validity and reliability, while some other items need to be revised or replaced. The level of difficulty of the questions is in the categories of easy, medium, and difficult proportionally, while the differentiating power shows the ability of the questions to distinguish between high and low ability students. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the analysis of question items needs to be carried out on an ongoing basis so that formative assessments can be used optimally in supporting Indonesian learning in junior high school.

Abstract

Tjarijos Redi Lawoe’s fairy tale tells of a character named Kasanredja that take a hike to Mount Lawu. The hiking trip is a spiritual laku that implemented as an effort to achieve the realization of Manunggaling Kawula Gusti 'unity with God'. The main problem of this research is how the representation of laku through sembah catur 'four worships’ in the Tjarijos Redi Lawoe. This research aims to prove that laku sembah catur is one of the strategies that can be carried out by anyone who wants to try to achieve unity with God or 'Manunggaling Kawula Gusti'. This research uses qualitative methods and an objective approach with the perspective of Javanese Religion. The results reveal that the laku sembah catur is divided into four stages: pendakian or hiking (sembah raga), tapa or meditation (sembah cipta), pencerahan or revelation (sembah jiwa), and manunggal or unity (sembah rasa). Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that unity with God in the Tjarijos Redi Lawoe can be achieved by practicing laku sembah catur, so it can be stated that the practice is still relevant until nowaday.

Abstract

The research entitled The Image of the Female Character Nisa in the Novel Ipar Adalah Maut by Elizasifaa (Content Analysis Study) is motivated by a social phenomenon that illustrates that the image of women has recently begun to shift towards the negative. Today's women sometimes go beyond the limits of life's nature to the point of distorting their image. Therefore, this study aims to describe the form of the female image in the novel Ipar Adalah Maut. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research type. The descriptive method is used to describe the image of the female character Nisa in terms of its form. While the qualitative approach is used to analyze the form of the female image of Nisa in this novel. The data collection technique is carried out by repeatedly reading and marking the form of the female image of Nisa in this novel. The collected data are then analyzed based on the theory used as a reference. The results of this study found 52 quotations related to the image of the female character Nisa in Ipar Adalah Maut by Elizasifaa. Quotes on the image of the female aspect of steadfastness were found in 14 quotations. The aspect of devotion to parents was found in 29 quotations. The aspect of not giving up easily was found in 9 quotations. Thus, the most dominant aspect of Nisa's female image is her devotion to her parents. This illustrates Nisa's high level of devotion to her parents.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an inquiry-based short story writing learning module that is valid, practical, and effective for use by 11th-grade students of SMA Negeri 8 Kota Jambi. This research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The research subjects included linguistic experts, content feasibility experts, design experts, an Indonesian language teacher, and 11th-grade students. Data collection instruments consisted of validation questionnaires, practicality questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results of the content feasibility validation obtained a percentage of 92%, content presentation validation 84.62%, linguistic validation 100%, and graphic design validation 97.14%, all categorized as highly valid. The practicality test showed an average teacher response percentage of 88% and a student response of 85.92%, both categorized as highly practical. The effectiveness test based on student learning outcomes showed that 100% of the students achieved the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM ≥ 70), with an average score of 84.39, indicating that the module is highly effective. Therefore, this inquiry-based learning module is highly feasible to be used as teaching material to improve students' short story writing skills

Abstract

This study is motivated by the growing adaptation of literary works into films, which has generally focused on novels, while adaptations from webtoons remain relatively limited. The aim of this research is to examine the process of ekranisasi in the webtoon Pasutri Gaje by Annisa Nisfihani and its film adaptation Pasutri Gaje directed by Fajar Bustomi. This study employs a qualitative approach, using the webtoon and the film as the primary data sources. The analysis focuses on ekranisasi by examining forms of reduction and addition that occur during the adaptation process. Data were collected through observation, note-taking, and documentation, and were analyzed descriptively by comparing the two media. The findings indicate that the adaptation from webtoon to film involves both reductions and additions in several narrative elements, particularly in the plot, supporting characters, and settings, carried out to accommodate the film’s duration and visual requirements.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form of Javanese code mixing into Indonesian in the film Budi Pekerti by Wregas Bhanuetja. The analysis of this study will answer the research questions and objectives of the study, namely, to describe the form of code mixing which includes, word form, phrase form and clause form. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with listening and note-taking techniques to obtain data. The research data source is the dialogue of the characters in the film, while the research data is in the form of speech containing Javanese code mixing into Indonesian. The results of the study show that the form of code mixing that appears in the film includes 65 dialogue excerpts in total with 46 word form excerpts, 13 phrase form excerpts and 6 clause form excerpts with the dominant frequency in the use of words. This finding indicates that code mixing is used as a communication strategy that reflects the socio-cultural background of the characters and at the same time strengthens the value of locality in the film. Thus, this study is expected to contribute to sociolinguistic studies, especially in understanding the practice of code mixing in audio-visual media.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of phatic communication used in the Mandailing language by the people of Rambah Tengah Barat Village, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. Phatic is a form of communication that does not focus on conveying information, but rather on maintaining and strengthening social relationships between speakers. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through direct observation, interviews, and conversation recordings. The results show that there are 30 data items that can be categorized into three phatic forms, namely phatic particles (14 data), phatic words (14 data), and phatic phrases (7 data). Abstract

The issue of this research also focuses on illocutionary acts that can depict social changes and character development in the context of everyday life. As the plot develops in Ketika Cinta Bertasbih by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, we can see changes in the way the characters communicate, influenced by their circumstances, whether in terms of emotions, life decisions, or their relationships with religion and society. The aim is to identify and analyze the types of illocutionary acts used in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. This research uses a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. The data collection methods used were the reading and note-taking methods. The results of this study on the meaning of illocutionary acts consist of: assertive illocutionary acts, directive illocutionary acts, expressive illocutionary acts, commissive illocutionary acts, and declarative illocutionary acts. The analysis of illocutionary acts serves as a guide for interpreting the meanings found in the dialogue of each character in the novel "Ketika Cinta Bertasbih" by Habiburrahman El Shirazy.

Abstract

This study to determine the effectiveness of the application of the Problem Based Instructions (PBI) method assisted by YouTube video media in learning to write short stories for grade XI Phase F students of SMA Negeri 9 Kota Jambi in the 2025 Academic Year. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 34 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research data were obtained through a short story writing test given before (pretest) and after (posttest) the application of the problembased instruction (PBI) method assisted by YouTube video media. The assessment was carried out using a rubric that includes the structure of the short story, intrinsic elements, language style, creativity, and language accuracy. Data analysis was carried out through prerequisite tests (Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Levene's Test homogeneity test) and hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample t-Test with the help of the SPSS program. The results of the prerequisite test showed that the data were normally distributed and had homogeneous variance. The t-test results showed a calculated t-value of 9.672, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.0345, with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted. This means there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores in students' short story writing skills. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the PBI method assisted by YouTube videos is effective in improving students' short story writing skills.
