Abstract

In social forest management, fertilizer were commonly used to increase productivity and accelerate the harvesting time. Incorrect fertilizer application could decrease the productivity and caused environmental pollution. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of fertilizer on the growth of African mahogany (Khaya anthotheca). This research was used Completely randomized blocked design (CRBD) was used. The Treatments tested were: P0= without fertilizer (a control treatment), P1= chicken manure 5 kg / tree, P2 = goat manure 5 kg/tree, P3= a mixture of chemical fertilizers i.e. a mixture of Urea, TSP, KCl (ratio of 1:2:1 100 g/tree). Each treatment was replicated three times with sixty trees each replication. Total 720 seedling was used in this study. Parameters observed were the chemical properties of soil before and after planting, percentage of survival, growth of high and diameter, and tree canopy width at 2- years old trees. Measurements carried out every 6 months until 2- years old trees. The results showed that the P2 gave the best growth with height = 356 cm, diameter = 5.17 cm and crown wide = 167 cm (P < 0.05).

Abstract

Objectives of this research are to know simultaneous relationship between managerial ownership, risk, debt policy, and company financial performance; and to find empirical evidences that control mechanism through stock ownership, dividend, and debt can reduce agency problem so that reducing agency cost in public companies in Indonesia. Samples of this research are 149 publicly owned companies listed in Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) in 2000-2004 which determined by judgment sampling. Two-Stage Least Square (2-SLS) is used to analyze the samples. This research shows that managerial ownership has significant influence to debt policy and there is a negative causal relationship between managerial ownership and debt policy. There is a substitution relationship between managerial ownership and dividend policy meaning that there is a significant negative causal relationship between managerial ownership and dividend policy; and between dividend policy and managerial ownership. Furthermore, there is also a substitution relationship between debt policy and dividend policy meaning that there is a significant negative causal relationship between debt policy and dividend policy; and between dividend policy and debt policy. Risk is a significant determinant factor and has negative influence to managerial ownership, whilst managerial ownership also a significant determinant factor and has negative influence to risk. Company’s financial performance has a significant positive influence to debt policy, while debt policy has a significant positive influence to company’s financial performance.

Abstract

This study aims to carry out the effects and measure the amount of biological value of dietary protein in local rams which were fed concentrate (2.3% body weight) and rice straw ad libithum. Twelve local rams, aged about 1 year old and weighed 25.44 kg ± 1.60 (CV = 6.12), were allocated to three type of feeding treatments. The treatments applied were rice straw without treatment (T0), rice straw treated with urea (T1), and rice strawtreated with urine (T2). The parameters observed were dry matter (DM) intake, crude protein (CP) intake, CP digestibility, CP metabolisability and biological value of dietary protein. The data then was analysed using ANOVA and the results showed no difference at all parameters which observed. Average of DM intake was 895.86 g/d, CP intake was 152.24 g/d, CP digestibility was 77.34%, CP metabolisability was 65.66% and biological value of dietary protein was 84.88%. The conclusion of this research was the rice straw which had treatment with urea or urine did not affect in biological value of dietary protein.

Abstract

Beef price forecasting is one of methods to overcome an unstable market price of beef. A forecast method that can be developed is Backpropagation. However, the method requires a high number of data to obtain optimal performance, which is contrary to the availability of observed data. Therefore, we proposed an interpolation technique to overcome incompatibility of data availability, i.e. granularity level of supporting data is in general, whereas granularity level of forecasting need is in detail. The experiments result that the best architecture of Backpropagation is 0.1 as momentum value, 0.01 as learning rate value, and 6 as hidden neuron size that produce 12% of MAPE's value or 88% of testing accuracy. At the same time, the ratio of beef price gap between the actual value and predicted value against the actual beef price is about 9%.
