Abstract

Activities intended for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in West Sumatra in obtaining Halal product certificates. The activity began with socialization and registration by MSMEs for products to be registered for halal certification. MSMEs, which are generally engaged in food processing, lack knowledge of the importance of product legality. The need to obtain product certification is demanded by increasing market competition and public awareness of the importance of the safety of a product they consume. In addition, the lack of knowledge of small business actors about the procedures that must be passed is also a significant problem. So, the implementation of this activity is significant in increasing the competitiveness of partner products. This community engagement activity aimed to help partners in product and business development and become partner facilitators to obtain product Halal certificates.

Abstract

Maninjau Village, including the tourist destination of Buya Hamka in Sungai Batang, is susceptible to natural disasters, such as landslides. It happens due to the sloping and high rainfall (> 3000 mm per year) area. The soil is prone to landslides if the sloping land is intensively cultivated for crop growth. This community engagement activity socialised and practised alley cropping techniques to manage farming in the sloping area. This method for introducing the alley cropping technique was through presentation and discussion as well as practice in the field with a farming group “Sehati”, a member of KPGH (Hamka generation youth community), and community leaders of the Nagari Sungai Batang in November 2021. A farmer cultivating red onion adopted the alley cropping method for the farm having a 19o39’ (36%) slope level with an alley width was 5 m. Gliricidia sepium and Tithonia diversifolia, known as green manure crops, were placed perpendicular to the slope of the alley fence. Gliricidia was planted every 5 m, and Tithonia between the Gliricidia at a 0.2 m distance in the alley fence.

Abstract

A community of Tikalak Wangi is a form of farmer group business carried out by the Nagari Pasia Laweh in order to increase productivity in the fisheries sector. Fish farming is part of any sector that has the potential to support the needs of the local community. The main problems currently exist for partners are a lack of facilities for cultivation, such as the use of bamboo as support for tarpaulin ponds, low quality of tarpaulin types, unstructured pond water circulation, and water pumps that are not optimal in regulating water. Furthermore, the quality of fish feed alternatives is still not maximized, and the business profits are not optimal due to no post-harvest processing. It was not easy to get a return on investment. Therefore, there needs to be a transfer of technology using the biofloc system to catfish farmers. This activity aimed to develop an alternative fish farming technology and apply fisheries skills for the community. This program resulted in the socialization and construction of catfish ponds with biofloc technology at the Tikalak Wangi Nagari Pasia Laweh Community Center, Palupuh District, Agam Regency.
