Abstract

The demand for local skincare products in Jakarta has grown significantly, with Somethinc emerging as a key player in 2024. This study examines the impact of brand equity, brand ambassador, and brand trust on consumer purchase decisions for Somethinc products in Jakarta. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 384 respondents selected via purposive sampling (criteria: Jakarta residents aged 17–40 who purchased Somethinc products in the past year). The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) in SmartPLS 4 to assess the relationships between variables. The results reveal that all three factors—brand equity (β = 0.28, p < 0.01), brand ambassador (β = 0.22, p < 0.05), and brand trust (β = 0.35, p < 0.01)—positively and significantly influence purchase decisions, with brand trust exhibiting the strongest effect. These findings align with prior research emphasizing trust as a critical driver in the beauty industry, where perceived reliability and product efficacy are paramount. The study also highlights the role of local brand ambassadors in enhancing credibility and emotional connection with younger consumers. Practical implications suggest that Somethinc should prioritize long-term trust-building (e.g., transparency in ingredients, post-purchase engagement) and leverage ambassador partnerships to strengthen equity. Future research could explore cultural or generational moderators in other Indonesian regions.

Abstract

This study discusses the stability analysis of mathematical models for the spread of Basar Stem Rot(BSR) in oil palm plants. In developing this mathematical model, several assumptions are taken to obtain a model that is suitable for the spread of BSR disease. The resulting model is a system of first-order nonlinear differential equations with three variables. This research includes both analytical and numerical analysis. Analytical analysis includes determination of equilibrium points and local stability analysis, while numerical analysis is conducted using Microsoft Excel application. From this study, two equilibrium points were found with stability conditions that depend on the fulfillment of certain conditions. One important result obtained is that the equilibrium point will be locally stable if and only if α > μ and b > √D, where D is the discriminant of a quadratic equation. After analyzing analytically, the study continued with numerical simulations to illustrate and test the analytical results. Numerical results in the form of graphs show that the solution of the system is stable, which indicates that the disease will be endemic under certain conditions and time. This research provides a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the spread of BSR and the conditions that affect the stability of the spread of the disease. With this analysis, it is expected to contribute to efforts to control BSR disease in oil palm plants. In addition, this research also opens opportunities for the development of similar mathematical models for other plant diseases.

Abstract

Drought vulnerability epitomizes a community's capacity to cope with drought-related calamities. In Muara Enggelam Village, the susceptibility to lake drought stems from diminished rainfall and lake water levels plummeting below 4.5 meters, as documented by the Mahakam River observation station in Kota Bangun. Consequently, the study focuses on the manifestation of lake drought vulnerability within Muara Enggelam Village. The research methodology encompasses a multifaceted approach involving observation, documentation, interviews, and questionnaires to gauge vulnerability levels. These assessments were based on key indicators of exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. Employing a cluster random sampling technique, 75 respondents were selected to represent the village population. Data analysis entailed the application of scoring and weighting methodologies. The outcomes of the study reveal that Muara Enggelam Village falls within Zone D, denoting high sensitivity as the primary component of vulnerability. Specifically, the indicators yield values of 0.41 for exposure intensity (EI), 0.81 for sensitivity intensity (SI), and 0.49 for adaptive capacity intensity (CI). The highest sensitivity observed in the village can be attributed to factors such as low-income levels and a significant proportion of the population engaged in fishing activities. In conclusion, this research sheds light on the intricate dynamics of drought vulnerability in Muara Enggelam Village, emphasizing the urgent need for targeted interventions to bolster the community's resilience against future drought events.
