Abstract

Water pollution is a scientific study of environmental chemistry on the sources, impacts and fate of chemicals in the aquatic environment, as well as the effects of human activities on them. As a student, you are required to have broad insight and knowledge, especially in dealing with environmental problems in society, by creating a caring character of the environment and finding solutions as an effort to overcome these problems. The purpose of this study is to produce educational materials in the form of additional e-books about water pollution, raising real problems that exist in the surrounding community. In addition, feasibility test and student responses were also measured against the Electronic Supplement on Water Pollution Equipment. The method employed in this study is R&D with the ADDIE model. Research data were collected through speaker and student interviews, due diligence questionnaires and student response questionnaires. The results of the feasibility test conducted by the expert validator on the Electronic Supplementary Book on Water Pollution Material show that the feasibility test for material, language and graphics is 1.00 with a very high validity category. The results of student responses to the Electronic Supplement Book on Water Pollution Material in the limited trial produced a percentage of 86% in the very good category and field trials produced a percentage of 93%.

Abstract

Energy as basic need for life indeed face crisis of scarcity. Yet, the idea of using renewable energy becomes popular for example hydropower, solar energy, side product (i.,g biomass and domestic waste) that have been introduced. Each of them have advantages and found reliable to be implemented. Ascribe to the concept of law conservation of energy, these potentials can be integrated and be optimized to create energy cyclic system. Hence, this study introduces the concept of sustainable energy cyclic system by accommodating several resources namely hydropower, human side products, biomass and solar energy. This study used comprehend data which then analysed to purpose the idea. Data were collected and were projected to the focus of study. It is addressed to create systematic system of energy yet hampering energy crisis. This study shows that the idea to generate sustainable energy cyclic is reliable in which it compiles each of potential and integrates into systematic system. Moreover, the energy cyclic provides the sustainable solution facilitated by abundant resources such as human side product, biomass, hydropower, solar power, and salinity gradient energy.

Abstract

Limitations in the form of teaching materials as learning resources in chemistry learning is a problem that occurs quite seriously in secondary schools and in tertiary institutions so the ethnochemistry approach is one form of modification in the development of contextual chemistry teaching materials. This study aims to analyze chemistry teaching materials as a source of learning by exploring the potential of local Sasak wisdom with the ngejot tradition. Data collection techniques through literature, interviews, and documentation using a qualitative approach. The use of Miles & Huberman's qualitative analysis in analyzing the data to be obtained. The research subjects consist of community leaders, chemical content experts, and chemical literature relevant to the research study. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that Sasak local wisdom with the ngejot tradition can be used as a source of chemistry learning through integrating Sasak local wisdom with the ngejot practice in the concept of atomic structure that there is an arrangement of matter from a negatively charged electron surrounding the atomic nucleus. Thus, the implications of this research can be a source of reference in developing contextual chemistry teaching materials so as to make learning more meaningful.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes with the Discovery Learning learning model on chemical bonding material for class X-6 SMAN 2 Ponorogo. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of three cycles. This cycle in PTK uses the Lesson Study format which includes planning (Plan), implementation (Do), and reflection (See). Data collection techniques include test techniques in the form of knowledge aspect tests, while the non-questionnaire technique is peer assessment and observation. In this study, student learning outcomes cover 3 aspects, namely aspects of knowledge, attitudes and skills. The learning outcomes of students in the knowledge aspect in cycle I amounted to 47.2% increasing to 67% in cycle II then in cycle III increasing to 86%. While the learning outcomes of students in the attitude aspect in cycle I had an average of 3.13 in cycle I increased to 3.28 in cycle II then in cycle III an average of 3.43 was obtained. The learning outcomes of students in the skills aspect in cycle I obtained an average of 3.03 and increased in cycle II of 3.28 then in cycle III the average increased to 3.35. The conclusion of this study shows that student learning outcomes increase by using the Discovery Learning learning model.

Abstract

Meatballs are one of the foods that are popular with various groups in Indonesia. Borax is a prohibited substance used as a food additive. Borax is commonly used in soldering, glassmaking, porcelain and wood preservatives. The use of borax in crackers aims to increase the elasticity of the meatballs. The purpose of this study was to detect the presence of borax in meatball samples.This type of research is descriptive, the method used is a qualitative method. Meatball samples were taken from meatball traders who sold them in the Karang Jangu area, Meatball samples were taken from meatball traders who sold them in the Karang Jangu area and examined using tumeric paper, tumeric paper (curcumin paper) is filter paper that is dipped in turmeric solution and dried, after that the sample that has been diluted and homogenized is dripped onto the tumeric paper. Based on the results of the study of the five meatball samples that were examined qualitatively using tumeric paper, negative results were obtained or did not contain borax, this was made clear by the absence of a color change on the tumeric paper. It is hoped that future researchers can use other methods. which can detect the presence and levels of borax in meatballs.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the activity and learning outcomes of students using the discovery learning model on the material of basic laws of chemistry. This research was conducted in Class X.2 of SMA Negeri 6 Surabaya in the 2022/2023 academic year. This type of research is class action research which consists of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The data analysis method in this study uses the percentage formula and the N-Gain formula. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that student activities have increased from cycle I to cycle III.The activity of students obtained in cycle I was 54.33%, in cycle II it was 65.66%, and in cycle III it reached 82%. Experienced an increase from cycle I to cycle II by 11.33%, from cycle II to cycle III by 16.33%, and from cycle I to cycle III reached 27.66%. The learning outcomes of students also increased from cycle I to cycle III. From the calculation of the N-Gain formula, it was obtained that the increase in student learning outcomes in cycle I was 0.29 with low criteria, in cycle II it was 0.41 with moderate criteria, and in cycle III it reached 0.71 with high criteria. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the discovery learning model can significantly improve the activities and learning outcomes of students on the basic laws of chemistry. Thus, the applied discovery learning has a positive impact on the process and learning outcomes of students in each cycle

Abstract

The atoms that make up organic molecules are carbon (C), hydrogen (H), oxygen (O), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), and several other elements such as chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), and iodine (I). The characteristics of the constituent organic molecules are important to study in order to understand the reactions and transformations in the synthesis of organic compounds. The weak conception of students about the characteristics of the constituent elements of organic compounds causes most students to experience difficulties in studying the structure of organic compounds. The purpose of this study was to find out the strengths and weaknesses of students' conceptions in understanding the molecular structure of organic compounds. This research is a quantitative descriptive research. The population of the study was 20 chemistry education students taking the basics of determining the structure of organic compounds. Samples were selected proportionally to the most. The instrument used is a description test designed in the form of a question mapping. The data obtained is then described in tables and graphs. The results showed that most of them were able to determine the types of atoms and bonds formed. Most students have not been able to explain the characteristics of the atoms that make up organic compounds and the subatomic characters that make up the atoms. Technology is needed that can visualize organic molecules at the atomic and subatomic levels to be able to build stronger student conceptions.

Abstract

One of the supporting factors for the success of a lesson is an increase in students' understanding of the material being taught. The use of learning media can help students understand the material easily. This literature review discusses the use of game-based learning media to increase high school students' understanding of chemistry. This study uses the narrative literature review method, by analyzing several literature sources related to game-based learning media. The results of the study show that game-based learning media can encourage students to learn actively anywhere and anytime so that they can increase students' cognitive abilities in understanding chemical material. Game-based learning media can be applied to all grade 10 and 11 chemistry materials at the senior high school (SMA) level.

Abstract

Diabetes melitus yang ditandai dengan hiperglikemia akut telah menjadi epidemi di seluruh dunia. Salah satu tumbuhan di Indonesia yang memiliki potensi empiris sebagai antidiabetes adalah kratom (Mitragyna speciosa Korth.). Ada 3 jenis varian kratom yang banyak digunakan oleh masyarakat yaitu varian kratom hijau, merah, dan putih. Varian ini dibedakan dengan adanya urat pada daun kratom. Namun penelitian antidiabetes dengan mekanisme penghambatan enzim α-glukosidase dari daun kratom varian merah, hijau, dan putih belum banyak diteliti. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas penghambatan enzim α-glukosidase oleh Ekstrak Etanol Daun Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa Korth.)Berbagai varian. Serbuk tiga varian daun kratom dimaserasi dengan etanol 96% selama 72 jam, dan penghambatan aktivitas enzim α-glukosidase menggunakan ekstrak etanol dan akarbose sebagai kontrol positif. Pengujian in vitro dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat microplate reader dengan panjang gelombang 405 nm. Ekstrak etanol daun kratom varian merah, hijau, dan putih 96% pada konsentrasi 500 μg/ml dapat menghambat aktivitas enzim α-glukosidase masing-masing sebesar 10,57%, 13,06%, dan 5,33%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ketiga varian kratom tersebut memiliki aktivitas sebagai penghambat enzim α-glukosidase namun tergolong sangat lemah, dengan IC50>200 μg/ml. Aktivitas penghambatan ketiga ekstrak berbeda nyata (p<0,05). Perbedaan ini mungkin disebabkan oleh kandungan metabolit sekunder pada masing-masing varian kratom.

Abstract

The 21st century provides many changes and challenges for teachers and students. The rapidly developing digital era broadly impacts learning development in Indonesia. The Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia has promoted the implementation of an merdeka curriculum which provides flexibility for teachers to develop students' 21st century abilities. The new merdeka curriculum was established so that teachers are still adapting to these changes. This article reviews the perspectives of chemistry teachers on 21st-century skills that have developed in Indonesia. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with surveys, questionnaires, and interviews. Respondents were Chemistry teachers, totaling eighty-four teachers and scattered throughout Indonesia. Interviews followed this up with ten teachers deliberately selected from the overall sample. The results showed that 94% of Chemistry teachers understand the importance of 21st-century skills. The study reveals that optimizes 21st-century skills. Several ways can be taken, namely, using constructivist learning methods to improve skills, providing engaging learning media, making motivational learning videos, and providing more time for students to complete problem-based learning or projects. They mentioned several challenges that hindered them from applying 21st-century skills in their teaching practice. The reasons for time constraints and concerns about teaching chemistry concepts were not completed according to schedule; the assessment needed to be more optimal because it was still focused on written tests and limited resources and infrastructure. Despite the many challenges, most teachers are still keen to implement learning that applies 21st-century skills in their classes.
