Abstract

Diabetes is a persistent metabolic disorder characterized by disruptions in both insulin secretion and action, leading to heightened blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia). Noni fruit, rich in antioxidant compounds like flavonoids and alkaloids, is thought to possess anti-diabetic properties. This study aimed to assess the influence of administering 500 mg/kgBW of noni fruit on the glucose levels of Wistar rats induced with diabetes using 150 mg/kgBW of alloxan. Blood sampling followed a post-test only group method conducted before terminating the mice. The study involved 33 mice divided into three groups: a negative control group, a positive control group induced with diabetes for 3 days, and a treatment group induced with diabetes followed by a 14-day administration of noni fruit extract. The normality test revealed a non-normal distribution with a p value <0.05. Additionally, the Kruskal-Wallis test resulted in a p value <0.05, signifying the impact of noni fruit administration on the blood glucose levels of rats. The Mann-Whitney U test indicated a p value > 0.05 between the positive control group and the treatment group. Despite the absence of a significant difference in glucose levels between the two groups, the study concluded that administering noni fruit at a dose of 500 mg/kgBW could influence the blood glucose levels of mice.

Abstract

Fuel Stations are facilities for selling fuel to the public which has a potential hazard and a high risk of accidents. During 2017-2018 there were 120 gas station accidents in Indonesia. Additionally, 29 fuel accidents occurred in 2022, most of them involving consumer vehicles. Previous studies have explored fuel station safety by examining its safety climate, health risks to workers, risk and fire assessments. Study on consumer behavior in fuel stations has not yet been discovered. Therefore, this study attempts to fill the gap by developing a Fuel Station Consumer Safety Behavior (FSCSB) Questionnaire. The aim of this study is to introduce a novel instrument to assess fuel station consumer safety behavior and assess its validity and reliability. The first phase of this study uses a qualitative approach on developing the questionnaire through literature review, content validity with field experts and face validity with actual fuel station consumers. In the second phase, a quantitative approach for validity and reliability analysis was carried out by calculating Pearson's Product Moment and Cronbach's Alpha on each variable. All questionnaire items passed the Pearson's validity test, but 3 items did not meet minimum Cronbach's Alpha criterion and have been removed. The final result is a novel FSCSB Questionnaire with 21 items. The questionnaire can be used as a reference for future research with a larger number of respondents.

Abstract

Enlarged facial pores are a cosmetic concern and a prominent feature of skin aging that impacts patient quality of life. Microbotox has emerged in multiple studies as a solution for reducing pore size and improving skin texture. A case of 29 years old female with papulopustular rosacea and enlarged skin pores was reported. From the patient's anamnesis, it was found that the patient has been complaining of a reddish patch with pimples on the nose and both cheeks for the past 4 years. The patient has also had enlarged pores on both cheeks for the past 3 years. On dermatologic state there were erythematous macule, erythematous papules and enlarged pores on both of the cheek. Global Flushing Severity Score (GFSS) was 3, Investigator’s Global Assessment (IGA) of Rosacea Severity for papules and pustules is grade 2 and erythema grade 2. Visual Assessment for Pore was 6. Patient received a single session of microbotox. Dermoscopy examination showed linear vessels (telangiectasia), a pustule, and also follicles filled with sebum. Follow up of the patient was done for 6 weeks. Patients reported a decrease in issues such as flushing, papules, pustules, and erythema. A noticeable improvement in pore size was also observed. This action can be repeated every 3 months to maintain clinical improvement and good skin texture. Botulinum toxin exhibits a satisfying level of efficacy and safety in rosacea treatment. A single microbotox session proves to be a safe and effective approach for reducing facial pore size, along with notable improvements in skin texture.

Abstract

Determining the estimated age in forensics is very important because it involves legal accountability. The method of determining age estimation can be done by direct measurement of the orocraniofacial bone or by using radiography. This article examines theseveral studies as well as parameters for determining age estimation using orocraniofacial. Search for published articles on Elsevier, Pubmed, Google Scholar, Research Gate, and NCBIon range2007-2021 years. The results show that it is more advisable to determine the age estimate by direct measurement compared to using radiography because it is prone to distortion.

Abstract

Hormonal contraception and body mass index (BMI) have been linked to menstrual irregularities, yet the nature of this relationship remains unclear. A cross-sectional study was conducted among0020a sample of 138 women who were using hormonal contraception. Data was collected through self-administered questionnaires. The participants were grouped based on type and duration of hormonal contraception use (combined contraceptives and progestin contraception) and their BMI was calculated based on their height and weight measurements. Menstrual abnormalities were recorded through the participants' self-reported data. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and logistic regression models. Results showed that there was a significant difference in menstrual abnormalities between different types of hormonal contraception p=0.021, OR=2.398, Women who used progestin only contraception had a higher risk of developing menstrual abnormalities than combined contraceptives. There was significance different of duration of use hormonal contraception with menstrual abnormalities p=0.037, OR=2.312 for a long duration (more than 1 years) compared to less than one year. Women with a higher BMI (greater than 25 kg/m2) p=0.038, OR=2.169 had a significant risk of developing menstrual abnormalities. The study concludes that the type and duration of hormonal contraception use and BMI play a significant role in the development of menstrual abnormalities. Women should be informed about the potential risks and benefits of different types of hormonal contraception and the importance of maintaining a healthy BMI. Healthcare providers should consider these factors when making recommendations for hormonal contraception.
