Abstract

Patient safety incidents are still a significant problem at Royal Prima Medan Hospital, where various types of services have risks that threaten patient safety. This study aims to analyze the determinants of nurses' role in implementing patient safety in the Royal Prima Marelan Hospital Inpatient in 2023. This cross-sectional study examines the relationship between independent variables (risk factors) and dependent variables (effects) concerning nurses' roles in patient safety in home inpatient settings. This study included 51 Royal Prima Marelan Inpatient Hospital nurses who were Saturated Sampling. Research variables include the nurse's function, knowledge, attitudes, facilities, and work experience. Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses are used in this research as statistics in determining the frequency distribution or proportion of independent and dependent variables. In implementing patient safety, nurses' roles are primarily good (64.7%), their knowledge is high (60.8%), their attitudes are positive (51.0%), their facilities are reasonable (60, 8%), and their work experience is mostly > three years (64.7%). Based on the analysis of patient safety implementation, knowledge, attitudes, facilities, and work experience all significantly impacted nurses' roles (p=0.008, 0.000, and 0.002, respectively). Hospital nurses have a good attitude toward implementing patient safety, especially if they get good training. Nurse length of service affects patient safety training frequency. More frequent training and better patient safety implementation are associated with longer nursing careers.

Abstract

The increasing age of the elderly will affect the ability to respond to stressors originating from oneself and the environment outside the elderly. The increasing age of the elderly causes various problems both physical, biological, mental, socio-economic and life satisfaction in the elderly. So this can be minimized with community empowerment activities, one of which is a self-help group (SHG). The aim of this research is to identify the effect of self-help group intervention on life satisfaction of elderly people with hypertension in the Nagrak Community Health Center working area, Cianjur Regency. This research is quantitative research using a quasi-experimental design with a Pretest – Posttest two Group Design approach. The sample was taken using a total sampling technique, namely 36 respondents. This research was analyzed using the independent t test. Based on the research results, the results of statistical tests using the Independent Samples Test show that the resulting P value is 0.000<0.05. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of the self-help group on the life satisfaction of the elderly in the treatment group after the self-help group intervention was carried out in the work area of the Nagrak Community Health Center, Cianjur Regency. Suggestion: future researchers can measure confounding variables as a whole, for example spiritual factors, family support, recreation and others.

Abstract

Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the pilosebaceous unit. This disease occurs on the skin of the face, body, back, and other areas of the body, and can leave scars on the skin which can be temporary or permanent. Recent data shows that the inflammatory process is the initial process in the pathogenesis of acne, several pro-inflammatory cytokines, one of which is interleukin 6 (IL-6), which plays a role in acne vulgaris. Analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The research was carried out from February - November 2023 at the Skin and Venereology Polyclinic, RSUP Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Denpasar and the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of Prof IGNG Ngoerah Hospital. The sample consisted of 47 samples of patients with acne and 20 samples without acne aged 8 - 45 years who were selected through consecutive sampling according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. A sample of 3 milliliters of venous blood is taken which will then be checked for IL-6 with an ELISA kit. Data analysis with SPSS version 24 and p value <0.05 is significant. The mean IL-6 serum levels in the acne group was 110.2 ± 88.3 pg/ml while in the non-acne group it was 26.7 ± 23.7 pg/ml. There was a significant difference in the category of IL-6 levels in the acne and non-acne groups (95% CI 55.1 - 155.3, p<0.001). The correlation analysis of IL-6 levels with the severity of acne was strongly positive (r=0.951, p<0.001).

Abstract

Leukocytes are a component of white blood cells which play a role in helping the body fight various infectious diseases. Leukocytes are part of the immune system. While an increased number of leukocytes indicates an inflammatory process, in the case of tuberculosis, the entry of M. Tuberculosis in the body causes the number of leukocytes to increase as a response to the body's immunity. This prompted researchers to be interested in examining the relationship between the number of leukocytes and the BMI value in pulmonary TB sufferers with BTA positive at the Kutorejo Community Health Center, Mojokerto Regency. The population and sample in this study were all patients with pulmonary TB with positive BTA at the Kutorejo Community Health Center, with the number of samples taken from the total population of 25 respondents, this sampling used a total sampling technique. The independent variable used was TB sufferers with positive BTA while the dependent variables were leukocyte count and BMI value. To prove the existence of a relationship between these two variables, a statistical test was carried out using the Spearman correlation test. The results of the research show that there is no relationship between the number of leukocytes and the BMI value in pulmonary TB sufferers with BTA positive at the Kutorejo Community Health Center, Mojok-erto Regency. This is confirmed by the results of the Spearman correlation test analysis which obtained a sig value. = 0.199 (α < 0.05).

Abstract

Toddlers are the age group most often and prone to suffering from malnutrition or malnutrition. One of the causes of high malnutrition is the lack of public awareness in health care, especially mothers for their toddlers and monotonous counseling methods. One way to improve toddler health care can be done by providing education to mothers with various models, one of which is using the Health Belief Model approach. Education with the Health Belief Model approach provides a strong relevance between health education and behavior change. To find out the Effect of Education Using the Health Belief Model Approach on Mother's Behavior in Preventing Malnutrition in Toddlers Aged 1-3 Years at Posyandu Mawar, Kalipare Village, Malang Regency. Abstract

Mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP) is a rare chronic autoimmune subepithelial blistering disease characterized by erosive lesions of mucous membranes and skin that typically results in scarring of at least some sites of involvement. A progressive disorder that may result in serious complications including blindness, loss of the airway, and esophageal stricture formation. Most patient experience reduced quality of life specifically with ocular symblepharon and laryngeal destruction. Case: We present a case of a 15-year-old male patient with 1 month-history of multiple tense bullae, difficulty to open the eyes, and hoarseness due to scar lesion in mucous membrane. The patient was reported to have Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) of 15 which implied he had severe disability and decreased quality of life due to his illness. Patient also had symblepharone release operation done by ophthalmologist. A laryngeal reconstruction plan was also carried out by ENT doctor, but the patient couldn’t continue the treatment because of economic problem. Scarring of MMP is a significant complication in many cases. Mucous membrane pemphigoid could cause a lot of disability to the patient and decreased quality of life. Symblepharone release operation was done and laryngeal reconstruction plan was also carried out. Surgical intervention may not curable; however, it may be necessary for restoring function and improving quality of life.
