Abstract

Purpose – The critical thinking ability of students forms the foundation for developing competent learners. This critical thinking ability can be facilitated through the application of the Flipped Classroom learning model. The purpose of this research is to understand the implementation of the Flipped Classroom model to enhance students' critical thinking skills in Catholic religious education.Method – This research method used by researchers is qualitative. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data processing techniques are done through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.Findings – The findings of this study indicate that improving students' critical thinking skills in Catholic religion learning can be done in two ways, namely the application of the Flipped Classroom learning model refers to discussion preparation and discussion activities as well as through interpretation, analysis, evaluation and inference. Research Implications – This research has relevant implications for the Flipped Classroom learning model on improving students' critical thinking skills. However, this research is limited by its focus on a conceptual approach without empirical testing so further research is needed to test the applicability of the learning model theory in actual practice in an educational setting.

Abstract

Purpose – Artificial Intelligent (AI) is a technology that is currently developing rapidly. The application of AI in Education (AIEd) is a study that is starting to be of interest to researchers in the field of AI and Education. The purpose of this research is to summarize studies on AIEd from 2018 to 2023 through bibliometric analysis and analyze current study progress, key points, and trends in AIEd related to pedagogy.Method – This research is a bibliometric analysis method. The data were collected from the Scopus database using R Studio software with search keywords of “Artificial Intelligence, Education, and Pedagogy”. A total of 94 articles were reviewed in this study.Findings – The results of the study show that combining the more frequently researched AI and Pedagogy topics with the less researched AIED topics can produce innovative updates and make important contributions in the field of artificial intelligence and education. Research Implications – The impact of this research can open opportunities for researchers to further explore the combination of AIED, AI, and pedagogy topics so as to enrich and expand the scope of research and encourage progress in related disciplines.

Abstract

Purpose – This research is the background of the low creative thinking skills of class XII TKJ in PKK subjects at SMKN Sukaresik. This study aimed to determine the differences in creative thinking skills of experimental class students who applied the project-based learning model with the control class who used the conventional model.Method – The model used in this research is a quasi-experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Data collection techniques in this study were questionnaires through pretest and posttest, observation, and documentation. The data analysis techniques consist of descriptive analysis, normality test, homogeneity test, independent sample t-test, and N-Gain test.Findings – The results of the data analysis showed that the sig value (two-sided p) < 0.001 and it is smaller than 0.005, so there is a significant difference in the creative thinking ability of the experimental class using the project-based learning model with the control class using the conventional model. Based on the n-gain value of 0.75, the project-based learning model is proven to be better at improving creative thinking skills. Research Implications – The impact of this research is to provide references to teachers in determining the proper learning model to apply in PKK learning. Teachers must build a learning environment that can stimulate learners' creativity. One of these efforts is embracing learners to be directly involved in the learning process through group discussions, collaborative projects, or presentations.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to determine the characteristics, validity, practicality, and effectiveness of illustrated children's story books based on local wisdom to improve the basic literacy skills of reading and writing in class II elementary school students.Method – This type of research is development (Research and Development). The data collected is in the form of validity, practicality, and effectiveness data. The research instruments used include questionnaires and tests. Validation sheets are used to collect data about the validity of the book. Response questionnaires are used to collect data about teacher responses to measure the practicality of books, Question Instruments are used to collect data about students' reading and writing skills to measure the effectiveness of books. Data was analyzed quantitatively descriptively.Findings – The results of this research show that the product developed is categorized as very valid both in terms of content, graphics, presentation, and language, this is proven by a CV value of 1. The product in the form of the story book "Ready Selem" is categorized as practical. In general, the practicality value of the interest aspect received a score of 24.8 which was categorized as very good, the material presentation aspect received a score of 24.4 which was categorized as very good, and the language aspect received a score of 24.5 which was categorized as very good. In general, the average practicality score is 24.5 in the very practical category. Research Implications – The story book product "Ready Selem" is categorized as effective. This can be seen from the increase in the score obtained before being given the picture story book media compared to after being given the picture story book to class II students at SD Negeri 1 Jatiluwih, with a significant value.

Abstract

Purpose – At school, students often encounter various learning challenges, with a particular issue being their lack of motivation, which makes it difficult for them to absorb lessons. This research aims to investigate the procedures for developing Flash card learning media, assess its appropriateness, and identify the development of student learning motivation after the use of Flash cards in the Social Sciences subject, specifically the economic activity material, for class VII at Bustanul Ulum Islamic Junior High School.Method – The research method employed in this study is a type of Research and Development (R&D), specifically focusing on media research and development using the ADDIE model. ADDIE stands for Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection involves the use of questionnaires from media experts, material experts, field practitioners, and student responses. Data analysis techniques incorporate both qualitative and quantitative approaches.Findings – The findings indicate that Flash card media is suitable for application and can significantly impact students, particularly in Social Studies subjects. This is evidenced by validation results from media experts, linguists, field practitioners, and the improved student scores compared to previous assessments. Research Implications – The implications of this research demonstrate that the application of Flash card learning media can enhance students' learning motivation. This research specifically focuses on the economic activity material in class VII Social Studies. The scope of the research is limited to one school and a specific set of subjects.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to analyze the needs of elementary school supervisors in Pidie District and to develop strategies to enhance their competence.Method – The research method utilizes a qualitative descriptive approach through interviews, observations, and documentary studies. The results indicate deficits in supervision and insufficient competence. Recommendations include increasing the number of supervisors and providing further training. This study is expected to enhance the quality of elementary education supervision in Pidie.Findings – The research findings indicate a deficit in the number of supervisors and insufficient competence in Kabupaten Pidie. The proposed recommendations include increasing the number of supervisors and implementing advanced training programs. Through these efforts, it is hoped that this study can significantly contribute to enhancing the quality of supervision in basic education in Pidie, thereby improving overall teaching and school management processes. Research Implications – The research improves supervision quality by pinpointing ineffective areas needing enhancement. Tailoring resources to specific needs optimizes supervisor numbers and task distribution for better outcomes. Findings also inform enhanced education policies for elementary school management and supervision. However, challenges unique to Kabupaten Pidie require a nuanced, contextual approach beyond general analyses.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this research is to determine how to enhance the professional skills of teachers at SDN Keune, Pidie Regency, through the application of an artistic model in academic supervision, as observed in teachers' abilities to develop lesson plans/modules and conduct teaching.Method – The research method applied is School Action Research (SAR), aimed at addressing issues related to teachers' abilities in developing lesson plans/modules, conducting teaching, and their professional competencies which are still low within the school environment, while simultaneously seeking solutions to resolve them. Three teachers were selected as research subjects due to their relatively low professional competency levels, with an average professional competency score of 62.44. The selected teachers are from grades II, IV, and V at SDN Keune, Pidie Regency. This research follows a four-stage cycle: planning, action, observation, and reflection.Findings – The artistic model of academic supervision effectively improved teachers' professional competence. Initially, lesson plans/modules were inadequate, scoring 70.83 in Cycle I and improving to 86.11 in Cycle II. Teacher performance in lesson delivery scored 73.81 in Cycle I, rising to 86.90 in Cycle II. Professional competence increased from 71.67 in Cycle I to 88.33 in Cycle II. Research Implications – School supervisors play a crucial role in enhancing teachers' professional competencies through academic supervision. However, this study is limited in its applicability beyond SDN Keune and may be influenced by the researcher's biases in interpreting qualitative data and observations. Additionally, the focus on a small number of teachers limits the generalizability of the findings. Future research should consider a larger sample size and a more diverse range of schools to validate and expand upon these findings.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to determine the quality of multiple choice items on human skeletal material in terms of validity, reliability, difficulty level, and differentiating power.Method – This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach. the subjects in this study were grade V students of State Elementary School 1 Sungai Bungin, totaling 22 students. the sample selection technique used saturated sampling technique. the data collection technique was carried out by the documentation method from the test results. the collected data were analyzed using the SPSS IBM Statistics 27 application to determine the criteria for the items.Findings – This study provides a detailed description of the validity, reliability, differentiating power, and difficulty of the questions. It found 17 valid items (68%), with high reliability (Cronbach's Alpha: 0.798 and 0.792). A total of 4 items had sufficient differentiating power, 19 items were good, and 2 items were excellent. The level of difficulty of the questions varied: 4 difficult questions (16%), 13 medium questions (52%), and 8 easy questions (32%). Research Implications – This research has important implications for improving the quality of education in elementary schools. The results of analyzing the accuracy of multiple choice questions on human skeletal material can be used to improve and develop questions that are more appropriate in measuring student knowledge. Teachers can adjust teaching methods based on the difficulty level of the questions, improve learning effectiveness, and provide more constructive feedback. In addition, the findings can assist in more targeted curriculum development and teacher training in the creation of high-quality questions. Thus, this study contributes to the improvement of student learning outcomes and the implementation of data-driven evaluation in the primary education system.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to identify student literacy problems at SDN 4 Kedungcino and analyze the implementation of the GEDEBUK literacy clinic program.Method – This study used descriptive qualitative method. An approach that aims to describe subjects related to the conditions observed and data collection techniques in this research through the process of observation, interviews and documentation. This research was conducted at SDN 4 Kedungcino. Checking the validity of data from observations, interviews and documentation uses triangulation, where the collected data is analyzed through data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions.Findings – The research results show that after the implementation of the GEDEBUK literacy clinic program, students' literacy skills have improved. The impact of implementing this program is that students who previously still had difficulty reading are now starting to be able to read books independently fluently, then students who are still in the reading comprehension stage are now able to tell stories well according to the understanding of the books they read. The existence of this literacy program also makes the school library active again. Research Implications – The research provides important insights for improving literacy in elementary schools. However, further improvements need to be made regarding adequate literacy facilities so that the literacy program can be implemented well and optimally.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this research is to find out how well students' critical thinking skills are in learning science, especially in mixed materials, by using the QODE (Questioning, Organizing, Doing, and Evaluating) and Discovery Learning models.Method – This research method applies quantitative methods. This study involved 49 students from class VIII A and VIII B as subjects with details of 25 students of class VIII A and 24 students of VIII B from SMP Negeri 2 Paron. The data analysis technique used prerequisite test analysis. The data analysis technique uses prerequisite analysis in the form of validity, reliability, normality, and homogeneity tests, while the hypothesis test uses an independent sample t-test.Findings – The QODE learning model is more effective in improving critical thinking skills compared to the Discovery Learning learning model on mixed materials at SMP Negeri 2 Paron with an average posttest value of 81.96> 78.00. The results of the hypothesis test of the posttest value proved that the tcount> ttable (1.677) while the tcount (QODE) was 2.138 and the tcount (Discovery Learning) was 2.128. This indicates a significant difference in the post-test results, which leads to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of H1 which indicates the effectiveness of the model. The result of the t-test value of QODE > Discovery Learning is 2.138 > 2.128 so it can be concluded that the QODE learning model is more effective than Discovery Learning in improving critical thinking in science lessons, especially mixed material for students of SMP Negeri 2 Paron. Research Implications – Students' critical thinking skills can be improved with QODE and Discovery Learning when learning science, especially mixed materials at SMP Negeri 2 Paron where the QODE model is more effective than Discovery Learning.
