Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing the discussion method in increasing student learning participation at SD Negeri 8 Mawarangka Timur. The extent to which discussion methods can influence student participation in learning.Method – This type of research is qualitative, where data is obtained through field studies or direct data from original (primary) sources. This research uses primary and secondary data sources. Direct or primary data sources were obtained through informants involving the principal and 3 PAI teachers at SD Negeri 8 Mawasangka Timur. Secondary data was in the form of various journal and book references related to the discussion. Using three data collection methods, namely observation, samples, and interviews. Testing the validity of the data is carried out using the triangulation method or by combining various collection techniques.Findings – The use of the discussion method is quite effective; this can be seen in the final grades obtained from students' Islamic religious education subjects. The highest score obtained by students is 91, the average student score is also around 79 for the first semester and 82 for the first semester. even and absorption capacity in the second semester was 82%, also improving from the previous semester, which increased by 3%. Research Implications – This research illustrates educators that the learning carried out is not just the teacher's responsibility as a profession, namely teaching, but how this learning can be absorbed and understood by students, starting with discussion.

Abstract

Purpose – In recent years, challenges have persisted in the acquisition of Arabic vocabulary among students, and one contributing factor to this issue is the perceived monotony of the existing learning methods. Consequently, the objective of this study is to investigate the impact and efficacy of implementing the PBL method in the process of learning Arabic vocabulary.Method – The research employed an experimental approach with a quasi-experimental design utilizing a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design scheme. The selection of the experimental and control groups did not involve a random process. Data collection encompassed both testing and non-testing methods. Testing involved pre-test and post-test assessments to gauge proficiency in Arabic vocabulary. In parallel, non-test data was gathered through observation and documentation.Findings – The research findings indicated that the PBL approach in Arabic vocabulary learning exerted a substantial impact and demonstrated greater effectiveness when compared to conventional methods. This was substantiated by the N-Gain Score test results, with the PBL method achieving a score of 0.49, categorized as medium, while the conventional methods scored 0.26, falling into the low category. Research Implications – The implications of this research show that the application of this method can significantly improve students' vocabulary understanding. These findings emphasize the importance of a supportive learning environment and the role of students as active agents in learning. A limitation that needs to be considered in this research is that it focuses on only one school with a limited sample. This means that the generalization of the findings only applies to that context.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to discuss Michel Foucault's sociology concept of education theory and criticize the dialogue between ideology and educational practice based on several of Foucault's works. This is because Foucault rejects the concept of power that is negative. And he proposed the concept of power-knowledge which underlines that there is no power without knowledge, and vice versa. Foucault also observed the shift from monarchical power to disciplinary power in modern society, which is reflected in educational practices and needs to be addressed.Method – The research methodology approach was conducted through a literature review of Foucault's works and relevant sociological theories.Findings – The research results explain that Foucault emphasizes the importance of the relationship between power, knowledge, discipline, and punishment in the context of education. In the context of education, the practice of power is reflected in standardization, selection, and punishment systems. Foucault criticizes standardization and selection practices that can create social inequality and identifies more internalized forms of punishment such as educational punishment. However, he proposed a critique of the use of power and control in education that ignores aspects of students' individuality and critical consciousness. Research Implications – Thus, this research can provide benefits to academics and educational practitioners to understand and apply Foucault's concepts in the context of education. It is useful to encourage critical and reflective thinking towards existing educational practices and explore new ways to achieve more inclusive and humanizing educational goals. Foucault also introduced the concept of the Panopticon that can be applied in education, where schools will become efficient places of surveillance for teachers against students.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to provide information on how to implement strategic management to improve the performance of superior educational institutions in Indonesia. Strategic management is very important because it provides a framework for directed and sustainable decision-making to improve the quality of education in schools.Method – This research is descriptive research using the literature review method. The data collection technique used is to collect as much theory and information as possible from library materials regarding research topics that are relevant and whose validity can be justified academically.Findings – The research shows that the main urgency for implementing strategic management principles in educational institutions is to help educational institutions formulate more appropriate strategies. Educational institutions in Indonesia have not been able to implement correct strategic management, resulting in the low quality of education in Indonesia. Strategic management is an integration process between formulating or planning, implementing, or applying, and evaluating, which leads to making organizational decisions that have an impact on organizational excellence. If educational institutions can carry out strategic management well, efforts to improve education will be realized, and educational institutions will become increasingly superior. Research Implications – This research implies that school principals who have comprehensive competencies will be better able to implement strategic management in educational institutions. Effective educational leaders in strategic management must be able to manage resources efficiently and have the ability to develop clear and consistent goals and direction, accompanied by good tactical planning.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to determine the competence of fiqh teachers in planning fiqh learning media in MAN 1 Medan starting from methods, suitability of achievement indicators following the conditions and situations of students, and constraints and solutions of fiqh teachers in planning learning media.Method – The research method that researchers use is qualitative research that produces descriptive data in the form of words from people and behavior that is being observed with a phenomenological approach. Data collection is used with observation, interviews, and documentation studies.Findings – The results showed that the competence of fiqh teachers in planning learning media in MAN 1 Medan showed good competence. The use of learning media carried out by MAN 1 teachers uses learning videos, PowerPoint slides, images or posters, and media from practical materials. The obstacles found by fiqh teachers in planning fiqh learning media in MAN 1 Medan are time constraints. This is less conducive to students. Lack of teachers' ability to use media that varies in access to knowledge and technology. The solution is using multi-strategy, multi-method, teachers must attend various trainings throughout digital learning media. Research Implications – This research makes a positive contribution to the school. To be able to improve the competence of fiqh teachers in planning learning media, which is carried out in various ways, such as by attending media training.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to present a new perspective on understanding Islamic educational leadership in a dynamic political era, focusing on the political challenges faced by Indonesia in 2024 and how Islamic leadership can anticipate and respond to these challenges.Method – The research method employs a literature review with a critical analysis approach, with data collected from sources such as books, articles, previous studies, and relevant documents.Findings – The research findings identify two main challenges faced by Indonesia in 2024: political polarization and the spread of hoaxes and hate speech. The phenomenon of political polarization involves division among pluralist and Islamic groups, while hoaxes and hate speech affect the integrity and the democratic process. The discussion highlights the importance of effective Islamic educational leadership in addressing these political challenges by reinforcing moderate and tolerant Islamic values and instilling critical thinking skills and digital literacy in the younger generation. Research Implications – The implications of this research underscore the need for Islamic educational leaders who can adapt to the dynamics of politics and society and play a crucial role in shaping a generation capable of critical thinking and facing contemporary challenges wisely.

Abstract

Purpose – The Merdeka Curriculum is a curriculum with diverse extracurricular learning where the content will be more optimal so that students have sufficient time to deepen concepts and strengthen competencies. However, in practice in schools, especially in junior high schools that have implemented the Merdeka curriculum, it turns out that there are still many students who experience difficulties in understanding and mastering learning. One of them is learning Indonesian. This research aims to analyze the application of the scramble-type cooperative model in learning news texts.Method – This research uses a qualitative descriptive research design. The sample in this study amounted to 170 respondents. The instruments used in this research are observation and interview instruments to collect data related to the research. The data validity technique used in this research includes testing the credibility of the data by triangulation by presenting the data in the form of narrative text.Findings – Based on the research results, it was concluded that the Scramble cooperative learning model could increase students' activeness, critical thinking, and interest, which ultimately influenced student learning outcomes in learning Indonesian in the classroom. The use of the Scramble learning model triggers student activity, thus changing a class of passive students into active ones. However, the Scramble cooperative learning model has several obstacles faced by teachers, such as the need for time to prepare, the difficulty of conditioning students, the teacher must understand the character and abilities of students and the class becomes noisy. Research Implications – This research implies that teachers need to further improve their professionalism, namely by improving teaching methods that are good and enjoyable for students.

Abstract

Purpose – The development of a dynamic cultural life marked by advances in science and technology is an inevitable reality. The curriculum is constantly evolving and improving due to various factors, such as the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. However, based on observations in several schools, especially in secondary schools that have implemented the Independent Curriculum, it is known that learning that considers the diversity of students is still rarely applied in the classroom, including in the Indonesian language subject. Teachers still tend to apply uniform learning. In the field, many teachers are still confused about how to implement differentiated learning. This study aims to analyze differentiated learning in the observation report text material at SMA Negeri 1 Kuta.Method – This research uses a qualitative descriptive research design. The sample in this study amounted to 72 respondents. The data instruments used are observations, observations, and interviews with data validity techniques using data credibility tests with reference materials, member checks, and triangulation.Findings – The results of this research state that the application of differentiated learning in the Observation Report Text material for Class X Students of SMA Negeri 1 Kuta has been carried out optimally and adapts to four basic elements such as content, processes, products, and student learning environments are following the expected goals. Research Implications – This research implies that differentiated learning can be used by teachers to further enhance the products, processes, content, and learning environment that are suitable for students' interests and talents. This aims to ensure students understand the material and achieve the learning objectives.

Abstract

Purpose – Blind people have limitations in accessing the outside world using their sense of sight. One of them is AR for the compound blind. This research aims to train AR to read and write braille using the left-code method.Method – The methods used are experimental methods with a Single Subject Research (SSR) research design with an A-B-A design. Data collection uses tests. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistics and displayed as tables and graphs.Findings – Using the left method technique, it was discovered that AR subjects could read and write braille for packages 1 to 3. An increase in the average level in each condition showed this. Starting from the baseline condition A1, which is a score of 1.3, the intervention condition gets a score of 9.6 and the baseline condition A2 gets a score of 16. So AR can read syllables, words, and sentences in package 1: a,b,k,l, package 2:c,f,m,p, package 3: e,h,o,r. Research Implications – The implications of this research indicate that the left coding method can be used to train compound blind subjects to learn braille. Time limitations, limited learning facilities, and limited intellectual conditions of the subjects mark the limitations of this research. Researchers suggest that for further research, considering the characteristics of compound blind subjects who are easily suspicious and irritable and have below-average intelligence, learning to read and write braille must be done in a calm situation. The condition of a comfortable place without interference from other people's voices also needs to be considered.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to determine the effect of using Canva media as a means of delivering material on students' ability to write negotiation texts. This is motivated by students' low writing skills, especially in negotiation text material.Method – This research uses a quantitative experimental method, namely the method used to find out how the independent variable, or in this research the use of Canva media influences the dependent variable, namely the student's ability to write negotiation texts. The population in this study was all class The data collection technique used is an assignment test to determine students' ability to write negotiation texts.Findings – The results of this research obtained an average of 78.78 for the experimental class and 66.12 for the control class. The results of the data requirements test show that the data for both classes are normally distributed and homogeneous. In the t-test, tcount > ttable = 6.3618 > 1.6698. Thus, it can be concluded that there was a significant effect of using Canva media on the ability to write student negotiation texts. Research Implications – This research proves that learning media is one of the important aspects of the success of teaching and learning activities. Interesting learning media will make it easier for teachers to convey material and students can also more easily understand and master learning. The Canva Application media which can stimulate images, and videos can make it easier for students to understand the material in searching for information and topics in written material, besides this, students play a more active role in learning activities to write negotiation texts.
