Abstract

Purpose – Gadget addiction is a condition where a person is said to be a gadget addict when they spend most of their time playing gadgets. Gadget addiction is a condition in which a person experiences excessive dependence on the use of electronic devices, such as cell phones or tablets, thus disrupting their daily life and health. The purpose of this study is to find out how the condition of gadget addiction in students and to find out the role of Catholic religious education teachers in overcoming gadget addiction in students.Method – The research method conducted by the author is Using qualitative methods, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation.The result of observations and interviews Data processing techniques through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.Findings – The research findings show the high level of gadget addiction in students and in overcoming students' gadget addiction, teachers play five roles, namely as role models by giving examples of deactivating gadgets before learning, as learning managers by making lesson plans and using methods that are suitable for students, as motivators by motivating students such as giving positive praise and punishment, as facilitators by preparing books, and as facilitators by preparing books for students. Research Implications – The implication of this study shows that the high gadget addiction among SMA Negeri 1 Delitua students affects their academic productivity, mental health, and social interaction. PAK teachers act as role models, learning managers, motivators, facilitators, and mentors, which are effective in reducing gadget addiction in students.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to examine Catholic families' strategies in building effective communication patterns and educating their children with moral, intellectual, and religious values in the digital era.Method – The method used is qualitative research with observation, interviews, and documentation conducted at Stasi Santo Matias Rasul Simpang Empat Paroki Santo Pius X Aek Kanopan. Primary data was obtained from interviews and direct observation of the family, while secondary data was obtained from relevant literature.Findings – The research findings show that Catholic parents play an important role as faith educators by encouraging participation in mass celebrations and religious activities, and teaching the importance of prayer both individually and corporately. In addition, parents as providers of love teach good manners, respect for others, and responsibility through modeling good actions. Parents also serve as role models in communication by teaching good and polite ways to communicate, and building openness in communication to create a good relationship between parents and children. Research Implications – The implication of these findings is that the strategies implemented by Catholic parents can shape children's characters into independent and qualified individuals in the future. By implementing these strategies, Catholic families can create harmonious communication and support the moral, intellectual, and spiritual development of their children in facing the challenges of the digital era.

Abstract

Purpose – Several phenomena have been observed, including a notable lack of active student engagement, which has led to poor learning outcomes. Consequently, this research aims to investigate the enhancement of student learning outcomes through the implementation of the TGT (Teams-Games-Tournaments) cooperative learning model in eleventh-grade mathematics education.Method – The research method employed is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which comprises two cycles, each encompassing four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research instrument consists of test questions designed in accordance with the learning objectives. The success indicator for this research is that 75% of the students achieve learning mastery.Findings – The integration of the TGT (Teams-Games-Tournaments) cooperative learning model can improve student learning outcomes. Based on the research results and data analysis in cycle 1, the percentage of students achieving learning completeness was 42%. Since this did not meet the success indicators, the research continued into cycle 2, where an increase of 36% was observed. The percentage of students achieving learning completeness in cycle 2 was 78%, thereby meeting the success indicators, and thus, the research concluded at cycle 2. Research Implications – The implications of this research highlight the importance of selecting a learning model that promotes active student participation in the learning process to enhance students' learning outcomes in vector material. However, a limitation of this research is the restricted sample size, as it focuses solely on one school.

Abstract

Purpose – Knowledge of sexuality is crucial from an early age because it can help children avoid sexual harassment and prevent gender bias. This study aims to find out whether Ritatoon media can affect sexual knowledge of children aged 5 to 6 years in PAUD Melati 2 in Jambi City.Method – The research was conducted using a pre-experimental design of One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design, total sampling, and a non-probability approach, purposive sampling type. The data analysis techniques used included t-test hypothesis testing with prerequisite tests of homogeneity and normality..Findings – The research results show that the average pre-test score is 15.111 and the average post-test score is 21.889 with a total score of 197. The t test results show that the value of t count is 30,500, which is the same as the t table of 2.365, so t count > t table shows that there is The influence is on strong interpretation with a value of 3.17 which is in the range > 1.00 with strong interpretation (Strong Effect). Calculated results showed that the average pre-test score was 15.111 with a total score of 136, and the average post-test score was 21.889 with a total score of 197. The average final test score was higher than the average initial test score of 6.778, which shows that Ritatoon media has an impact on children's sexual educationResearch Implications – The study's findings suggest that ritatoon media can be utilized as a teaching tool to help kids between the ages of five and six build their sexual literacy by giving them more insight into and information about learning activities that can help them become more sexually knowledgeable. via media and education, and serve as a resource for educators doing exercises aimed at promoting early sexual education.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to determine the feasibility of the Android-based "guizzer" application in mathematics learning for fifth grade elementary school. The lack of teacher innovation in the use of learning media, especially mathematics, makes students less enthusiastic. Therefore, researchers developed an Android-based Guizzer application to improve the quality of fifth grade elementary school mathematics learning.Method – This research uses Research and Development (R&D) research with the ADDIE development model including the Analyze, Design, Development, Implement and Evaluate stages. This research was carried out at Waturoyo State Elementary School with the research subject being class V. Data collection techniques used included observation, interviews and questionnaires. The data analysis used is in the form of validity.Findings – The research results show that the results of media validation by validator 1 were 78.3% and validator 2 were 85%, resulting in an average of 81.65% (very feasible). The results of material validation by validator 1 obtained a percentage of 83.3% and validator 2 of 81.7%, so an average of 82.5% was obtained (very feasible). The results of the trial, namely student responses, obtained a percentage of 97.1% (very feasible). It can be concluded that the "guizzer" application is very suitable for use in the learning process. Research Implications – Based on the research results, the Android application "Guizzer" is suitable for use in the fifth grade elementary school mathematics learning process. The implication is that students are interested and enthusiastic in the learning process, thereby making a positive contribution to achieving learning goals.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to explore the effect of Problem-Based Learning Model (PBL) on the learning outcomes of students in grade XI of SMAN 4 Medan in writing an explanatory text in Indonesian language subject. By focusing on the effectiveness of PBL in improving students' writing skills, this study provides theoretical contributions to the development of learning theories as well as practical benefits for teachers and schools in improving the quality of learning.Method – The study used a quasi-experimental design with an experimental group and a control group. The approach was Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model. The research was conducted at SMAN 4 Medan involving students of grade XI. Data were collected through an explanatory text writing test conducted before (pretest) and after (posttest) the application of PBL. The analysis was conducted by comparing the posttest results between the experimental group using PBL and the control group using conventional learning methods. The results were analyzed to assess the effectiveness of PBL in improving students' writing ability.Findings – The results showed that the Problem-Based Learning Model (PBL) significantly improved students' learning outcomes in writing explanatory texts. Proven by the average value of posttest in the experimental group which is higher than the control group, which proves the effectiveness of PBL in the context of Indonesian language learning in class XI SMAN 4 Medan. Research Implications – The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model enhances students' writing skills in explanatory texts at the senior high school level. This study, limited to one school, does not reflect broader educational variations in Indonesia. It focused solely on PBL's impact on writing skills without a thorough exploration of other influencing factors. Future research should expand the sample size and include diverse contextual elements to more robustly verify these results.

Abstract

Purpose – The objective of this study is to examine the correlation between the use of Canva-based SKI instructional videos and student motivation at MAS DDI As-Salman Allakuang. It aims to determine how Canva's integration influences aspects of student motivation such as interest, effort, and perseverance, providing insights into the effectiveness of digital learning tools in enhancing student engagement and motivation.Method – This study employs a quantitative correlational design to measure the impact of using Canva-based SKI instructional videos on student motivation at MAS DDI As-Salman Allakuang. A purposive sample of 54 students was selected. Data were collected using a validated motivation questionnaire covering aspects like interest, effort, and perseverance. Pearson correlation statistics were used to analyze the relationship between the use of Canva-based SKI instructional videos and student motivation.Findings – This study found a significant moderate positive correlation (r=0.617, p=0.001) between the use of Canva-based SKI instructional videos and student motivation in Aqidah Akhlak learning at MAS DDI As-Salman Allakuang. This indicates that more frequent use of Canva-based videos is associated with higher student motivation. These findings confirm the hypothesis and demonstrate that digital learning tools like Canva can enhance student motivation. Research Implications – Using Canva-based instructional videos in Aqidah Akhlak learning can practically enhance student motivation. However, to confirm this effect, more diverse, experimental, and long-term studies are needed due to limitations in causation and potential biases.

Abstract

Purpose – Teacher-centered learning models and a lack of variety limit students' opportunities to be active and think critically, affecting their concept comprehension and collaboration skills. This study aims to investigate the role of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on fifth-grade students' understanding of the human respiratory system and organs.Method – This quasi-experimental study used a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design, involving experimental and control classes of fifth-grade students from a public elementary school in Harjamukti District, Cirebon City. Data was collected using testing and non-testing methods. Test instruments used to determine students' concept understanding using pretest and posttest assessments and non-test data is collected using observation.Findings – The results showed that the implementation stages of PBL were carried out very well; both the experimental and control classes showed an increase in concept comprehension, with PBL having a more significant impact. PBL increased concept understanding with an average N-Gain of 57.7% compared to 35.2% in the control class, and increased student collaboration with a percentage of active participation of 84%. Research Implications – The implication in this study is that the PBL model runs very well so that it can significantly improve students' understanding concepts in the material of the human respiratory system and organs. Can also develop students' collaboration skills so that they are more active in class. However, it is limited by its focus on a small sample and specific material. Broader research with diverse samples and materials, or additional variables, is needed for more comprehensive conclusions.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to describe the use of computer laboratories, identify the challenges faced by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) teachers in utilizing these laboratories, and understand the efforts made by the school to address these challenges. The study seeks to enhance students' foundational computer knowledge through the effective use of computer laboratories.Method – The research employs a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, conducted at the Private Islamic Senior High School of Perguruan Hidayatul Islamiyah in Kuala Tungkal. The study's participants include the principal, the vice principal for facilities and infrastructure, the computer laboratory coordinator, ICT teachers, and students. Data collection techniques involve observation, interviews, and documentation, with data validity ensured through triangulation. The data analysis process includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.Findings – The findings demonstrate that computer laboratories significantly enhance students' basic computer skills at the Private Islamic Senior High School of Perguruan Hidayatul Islamiyah in Kuala Tungkal. Students gain practical experience, reinforcing theoretical knowledge, while collaborative tasks in the lab foster problem-solving and engagement. However, challenges such as outdated equipment and internet issues limit the full potential of laboratory use. Despite these obstacles, ICT teachers incorporate lab activities effectively to create an engaging learning environment. Research Implications – Although facilities meet minimum standards (Indonesian Ministry of Education Regulation No. 24 of 2007), there is potential for improvement. Regular updates to equipment, improved internet access, and teacher training would enhance learning outcomes. This context highlights the importance of equipping madrasah students with essential digital skills for their academic and professional.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using Google Sites-based multimedia as a learning medium on students' conceptual understanding in understanding economics lessons. This is motivated by a lack of student motivation to learn due to monotonous learning facilities.Method – This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method, which is the approach used to develop and test a product. And using the ADDIE development model proposed by Lee Owens, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and questionnaires. Testing includes pre-test and post-test assessments to measure students' level of understanding.Findings – The results of this research in the trial, students were given a pre-test with a class average score of 56.43. Meanwhile, the posttest results obtained a percentage score of 83.24. This is proven by the N-Gain Score results which obtained a score of 0.63 in the quite effective category. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence in the use of Google Sites-based multimedia on students' understanding. Research Implications – This research proves that Google Sites-based multimedia can significantly increase students' understanding of concepts in economics lessons. Attractive learning facilities will make it easier for teachers to convey learning material and students will more easily understand and master the learning material. The implication is that students play a more active role in economic learning activities and are enthusiastic in participating in learning so that learning objectives can be achieved well.
