Abstract

Indonesian government is targeting one million halal product certification in 2023. And the government is targeting that by 2024 all products in Indonesia will be halal certified. This certainly needs support from various parties. Indonesian government through the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) appoints the Halal Product Process Assistance Agency (LP3H) which acts as an extension and assists business actors (micro - small) through assistance in the halal certification process. However, data on the halal information system shows that only 749,971 products have been declared halal in 2022 and there is still a need for massive socialization efforts so that government programs are realized. To support this program, LP3H ITB AD conducts activities for prospective Halal Product Process (PPH) assistants to help verify and validate the halal process for business actors. The aim of the research is to disseminate basic information and knowledge to prospective PPH assistants regarding the legal basis, verification, validation, materials and processes for halal certification. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. Data collection was obtained from the results of the questionnaire. The results of this study show that on average 66% of the participants understand the information material related to the halal process and 79% are very satisfied with the presentation of the resource persons.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to propose a model of empowering global refugees by utilizing zakat and waqf through Islamic microfinance institutions. The model introduced is an extended model of the model developed by Kachkar (2017) and Indrawan et al. (2018). A thorough review of relevant literature is conducted to develop this model. The proposed approach, referred to as the Integrated Zakat and Waqf Model for Refugees (IZWMR), introduces the zakat element as an extension of the previous model. Additionally, the waqf component of the model includes not only cash waqf but also land waqf, thereby enabling the optimal utilization of idle waqf assets to empower refugees and support their livelihood. This study aims to raise awareness within society about the challenges faced by refugees, provide a comprehensive model to address the global refugee crisis, and create opportunities for the more effective and impactful utilization of Islamic social finance instruments, such as zakat and waqf.

Abstract

The development of Islamic banks is now progressing no less than conventional banks. Conventional banking is more known as interest rate system while Islamic banking adopts profit sharing system. The problem facing Islamic banking today is that the public's knowledge of Islamic banking is still low due to the existence of conventional banking products, so Islamic banking is still viewed by eyes. The purpose of this study was to find the local community’s perception about Islamic banking in Sekamis village, Cermin Nan Gedang district, the capital city of Sarolangun. The research method used is a qualitative field study with a descriptive research approach. The results show that the respondents' level of knowledge about Sharia banks in Sekamis village is not good. Most of the public does not know and it is often difficult to distinguish between a Shariah bank and a regular bank, not only in terms of contracts but also in terms of products, systems and benefits. Generally, if the public knows about it, then the public will be interested in becoming a customer of Sharia banks as they are based on Islamic Sharia principles. And the community only knows about the existence of Islamic banks, but people do not understand the details of Islamic banks. However, only some people understand Islamic banking, and there are also people who do not understand Islamic banking at all. Most people do not know what products are available in Islamic banks. The lack of understanding of the community in Sekamis village is due to the lack of information obtained and the lack of access of Islamic banks in conducting socialization in the village.
