Abstract

Dialectical encounters among denominational diversity with all its uniqueness are completely unavoidable. The Church of Christ the Lord (GKT) is one of the denominations that has its own uniqueness to be thanked and celebrated in the midst of denominational diversity with all its uniqueness. This research argument is compiled using a qualitative research method based on a literature review approach. This article intends to look at the uniqueness of GKT (The Church of Christ the Lord) in the midst of the diversity of existing denominations based on a Heideggerian perspective.

Abstract

Ecological damage resulting from a lack of awareness about the integrity of creation continues to occur in Indonesia, particularly in Maluku. The destruction of nature by non-natural forces is evidence of this reality. The devastation of nature should be a common concern of the church and society. The church should examine texts from an ecotheological perspective, such as Psalm 8:1-10 and Colossians 1:15-23. Therefore, this article aims to reinterpret the two biblical texts through an ideological critique approach. The analysis reveals that the context of each text influences the narrative on ecology and reflects the author's ideology, which has not fully and comprehensively considered the gap between God, humans, and nature. Ultimately, the article highlights the fundamental importance of holistic, whole creation in addressing ecological injustice.

Abstract

This paper examines Elijah's spiritual struggles and emotional regulation using an interdisciplinary hermeneutic approach and literature review. Elijah struggled with fear due to the conflict with Jezebel and the Israelites about the spread of Baal worship (interpersonal struggles). The situation shook Elijah's spirituality and led to his disappointment with God (divine struggles). The pressure on his mind showed intrapersonal struggles, which culminated in a desire to die. Elijah's emotion regulation process can be seen since he chose to flee as a form of situation selection. To relieve emotional pressure, he modifies the situation by resting and sleeping (situation modification). Eating and drinking in response to the angel's gift reflects attentional deployment. Elijah's cognitive change occurred through God's intervention in the form of a divine encounter and reinforcement. This process reached its final stage in response modulation, where Elijah forgot his desire to die and chose to continue his prophetic duties.

Abstract

Harmony in the family is an ideal principle in building a household, but this principle is not easy in practice due to various factors, one of which is the problem of ego. The aim of this research is to examine the influence of ego in the turmoil of Christian family life, which on the one hand can create disharmony, nevertheless on the other hand can create harmony. This depends on how to measure ego so that harmony is created among family members. The theological perspective is used in this research as a lens for solving the problem of family harmony. The method used is literature method through analyzing the text according to the research problem. The results of the research shows that ego plays an important role in building family harmony, nevertheless it must be based on theological awareness about the Christian family. However, the ego’s vulnerability to bad influences can harm family harmony, so it must be measured properly to create balance between family members. This can be established through good communication relationships, as well as loving relationships between family members that are based on God’s love.

Abstract

AbstractThe Book of Job is a book about suffering, centered on its main character, Job, a righteous man who experiences great suffering. Scholars generally discuss Job’s extraordinary pre-tragedy condition, the intense suffering after the tragedy, and the improved condition following God's restoration. However, scholars have paid less attention to Job’s suffering before the tragedy and after the restoration. Using a psychological approach, this article aims to complement previous studies by exploring Job’s suffering both before the tragedy and after his restoration. The author argues that even before the tragedy, Job had to endure a certain kind of hardship or suffering, as his "obsessional personality" made him an outsider within his own family and a loner. Job also found it difficult to gain true friends or companions because of his extraordinary success and wealth. The divine restoration at the end of the book does not free Job from suffering. The seven sons and three daughters granted to him as part of the restoration certainly cannot erase his memory about the children he lost in the previous tragedy. Likewise, the return of his brothers and acquaintances cannot erase Job’s feelings of pain from facing such a great tragedy in his solitude, as they had previously abandoned him. The study of Job’s life concludes that throughout human life, suffering is always present.

Abstract

Abstract

The flexing culture is a growing contemporary phenomenon where many young and old people can get caught up in this trend. Most flexing behaviors are very much oriented towards excessive flaunting of wealth, and some people even deliberately create an image to look rich. Interestingly, Proverbs 11:28 clearly states that the act of trusting in wealth will result in the consequence of experiencing a fall. The action-consequence pattern is a structural pattern in the book of Proverbs that takes into account actions based on choices and decisions that result in consequences that will be received. There is no research that specifically discusses this. Therefore, this article will discuss how to deal with the onslaught of flexing culture based on the warning of God's Word through analyzing the pattern of action-consequence words in Proverbs 11:28 using qualitative methods with sub interpretative design, especially wisdom literature hermeneutics. This study found that first, trusting in wealth is foolish and leads to downfall; second, wealth cannot guarantee that one's life will remain good and peaceful; and third, being righteous (trusting only in God) is the key to success and success. The results of this study serve as a warning to anyone who wants to live in a flexing culture so as to avoid the fall.

Abstract

This article explores the symbols of suffering in Job 2:8, namely ashes, potsherds, and grief as expressions of human suffering. The study aims to analyze the theological meaning of these symbols within the context of Job’s suffering and their implications for understanding God’s justice and human experience of suffering. The method used is a qualitative biblical exposition with a literature study approach, examining the original Hebrew text and its historical-cultural background. The findings show that ashes and potsherds function as tangible signs of sorrow and brokenness, while grief represents the deep emotional experience of suffering. Overall, these symbols convey a profound theological message about the human condition and God’s presence amid suffering. This article concludes that the symbolism in Job 2:8 invites readers to face suffering with honesty and faith, recognizing that suffering is part of the relationship between God and humanity that shapes spiritual resilience in hope.
