Abstract

This study examines the role of evidence in proving intent in murder cases within the criminal justice system. Intent is an element in distinguishing between different types of homicide, such as premeditated murder and manslaughter. The complexity of proving intent is influenced by the types of evidence available, including direct, circumstantial, forensic, and testimonial evidence. Direct evidence, such as confessions or eyewitness testimony, is the most definitive but is often unavailable, making circumstantial evidence essential in many cases. Forensic evidence, particularly autopsy results, provides significant insights into whether the actions were deliberate or accidental. Motive also plays an important role in strengthening the case for intent, offering contextual understanding of the perpetrator's reasons for committing the crime. Witness testimony, although important, requires careful evaluation to ensure its reliability. Psychological factors, such as emotional distress or provocation, can further complicate proving intent, as they may reduce the level of premeditation and influence the legal classification of the crime. This paper argues that proving intent in murder cases requires a comprehensive approach that integrates multiple forms of evidence to ensure accurate legal outcomes and fair justice.

Abstract

Business competition that is increasingly dynamic, complex, and uncertain emphasizes company managers to think creatively and innovatively. Product quality plays an important role in maintaining customer trust and loyalty, so companies must focus on developing and controlling product quality to increase competitiveness and achieve competitive advantage. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause product failure and examine strategies in improving quality at SMEs Tahu Gunung. The research method uses the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method by identifying and reducing potential failures to improve product quality through RPN values. The results of the analysis show the calculation of the highest RPN value of 210 is in the soybean soaking process with the risk of failure due to soaking carried out less or more than the specified time and the water in the soaking tub is not replaced with new water, then obtained the second highest RPN value of 192 in the tofu delivery process. From the results of the RPN calculation, improvements are focused on the soaking and tofu delivery stages, by emphasizing to employees to drain the water reservoir regularly and install a cover for the water tank. In the tofu delivery process, improvements that can be made are checking the tofu before the tofu is sent, using a cover box for the tofu container, and routinely cleaning the mold and box after use.

Abstract

Congenital talipes equinovarus (clubfoot), if left untreated, can result in significant physical disability. While the Ponseti method has demonstrated high efficacy as a primary treatment modality, its long-term success depends substantially on consistent postoperative management and brace compliance, factors potentially influenced by social support systems. This study examines the impact of social support structures on treatment outcomes in clubfoot patients managed with the Ponseti technique at a tertiary referral center. We conducted a cross-sectional analytical study involving 80 pediatric clubfoot cases (mean age: 29.05±35.11 months; male predominance: 57.5%). Through structured interviews and retrospective medical record review, we evaluated multiple dimensions of social support (family engagement, community resources, healthcare accessibility) and their correlation with long-term therapeutic outcomes (recurrence rates, bracing adherence, functional assessments). Statistical analysis employed chi-square tests and multivariate logistic regression models. Our findings revealed significant associations between robust family support systems (p=0.015) and community-based assistance programs (p=0.032) with favorable long-term outcomes. Multivariate analysis identified consistent primary caregiver involvement (p=0.008; prevalence ratio [PR]=4.12) and access to rehabilitation services (p=0.022; PR=2.89) as independent predictors of treatment success. Socioeconomic indicators showed no statistically significant correlation. These results underscore the critical role of multidimensional social support in optimizing Ponseti method outcomes. We recommend integrating family education initiatives and community support networks into standard clubfoot management protocols. Further multicenter prospective studies are warranted to validate these findings across diverse sociocultural contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the application of Accounting Information Systems (AIS) on the effectiveness of internal control in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Sorong City. The background of this research is based on the need for MSMEs for a reliable financial management system and a control system that is able to minimize the risk of errors and fraud. The method used is an associative quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis techniques using SPSS. The population in this study were active MSME players in Sorong City, with a sample of 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling technique. The independent variables in this study consist of four dimensions of AIS, namely system reliability, ease of use, data security, and reporting accuracy. While the dependent variable is the effectiveness of internal control as measured through the five components of the COSO framework. The results showed that all AIS indicators simultaneously had a significant effect on the effectiveness of internal control. Partially, the accuracy of reporting is the dominant factor in influencing the effectiveness of internal control. The findings also highlight the importance of employee training and the role of information technology in supporting effective AIS implementation. Thus, the strategy to increase the effectiveness of MSME internal control must include strengthening information systems, increasing human resource capacity, and adaptive and sustainable digital transformation. This research provides practical implications for policy makers and MSME actors in managing more accountable financial governance.

Abstract

Spinal tuberculosis (TB) is a rare but severe infection that can lead to deformities, back pain, and neurological deficits. Preoperative administration of anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT) is commonly used to reduce bacterial activity and inflammation before surgery. However, the optimal duration of OAT preoperatively is still debated. This study aims to systematically review and analyze the relationship between preoperative OAT duration and clinical outcomes post-surgery in patients with spinal TB. A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed on studies comparing the effects of different OAT durations preoperatively in spinal TB patients. Data were collected from PubMed, Scopus, and EMBASE. Key outcomes evaluated included Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), wound healing, and bone fusion. The meta-analysis showed that preoperative OAT duration of 1 to 2 weeks significantly reduced inflammation, with a notable decrease in ESR and CRP post-surgery (p = 0.006 for ESR, p = 0.02 for CRP). However, no significant differences in functional recovery or wound healing were observed between shorter (1-2 weeks) and longer (2-4 weeks) OAT durations. Bone fusion results were similar across both groups. A shorter duration of OAT preoperatively (1-2 weeks) is effective in reducing inflammation and improving postoperative recovery, though it does not significantly impact bone healing or fusion. Thus, a shorter preoperative OAT regimen can be considered a viable option in managing spinal TB patients.

Abstract

Quality hospital services are the main demand in the modern era that prioritizes patient satisfaction as the main indicator of the success of health services. This study aims to evaluate the quality of hospital services using a combined approach between the SERVQUAL and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) methods. The research was conducted qualitatively using in-depth interview techniques and participatory observation at one of the referral hospitals in Banten Province. The SERVQUAL method was used to identify gaps between patient expectations and perceptions of five service dimensions: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The results showed that the responsiveness and empathy dimensions had the most significant gaps, indicating the need for improvement in the aspects of service speed and attention to patients. Furthermore, the QFD method was applied to translate patient needs into technical specifications of hospital services through the preparation of the House of Quality (HOQ). Some of the key patient needs identified included improving the quality of staff communication, waiting room comfort, and utilization of digital service systems. The literature review supports that the combined approach between SERVQUAL and QFD is able to produce solutions that are applicable and oriented towards systemic improvement of health services. This research makes an important contribution to hospital management in designing strategies based on patient needs as well as a reference for sustainable service development. The results also highlight the important role of service innovation in improving hospital competitiveness at the regional level.

Abstract

Cloud computing has become a strategic solution in improving the efficiency of data management in the education sector, including in Banten Province. This research aims to explore the implementation of cloud computing and its impact on academic data management in educational institutions. Using a qualitative approach with case studies, data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations of institutions that have adopted cloud systems. The results showed that cloud computing accelerates administrative processes, increases flexibility of data access, and reduces administrative workload. In addition, the cloud supports the development of personalized learning and innovation of digital-based education services. However, the study also found significant challenges, such as limited digital literacy of educators and dependence on internet network infrastructure. Organizational support, through visionary leadership and regular training, proved to be a key factor for successful cloud implementation. On the other hand, data security is a major concern, requiring strategies such as multi-factor authentication, data encryption and role-based access control to reduce the risk of data breaches. By properly managing these challenges, cloud computing not only improves efficiency, but also encourages continuous educational innovation. This research recommends the need for synergy between educational institutions, cloud service providers and local governments to strengthen the education digital ecosystem. A secure, adaptive, and innovation-oriented cloud implementation is expected to accelerate the transformation of education in Banten Province towards competitive and inclusive global standards.
