Abstract

This study aims to analyze the English descriptive text writing ability of grade XI students at SMAN 3 Aceh Barat Daya and identify the factors that cause their low scores. Using a descriptive quantitative approach and supported by qualitative data through interviews, this study evaluated five aspects of writing according to Heaton's theory, namely: content, organization, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics. Data were collected through descriptive text writing tests and interviews with ten students who had the lowest scores. The results showed that most students had not mastered the structure and linguistic elements in descriptive text. The main problems found include grammatical errors, lack of relevant vocabulary, and irregularity in the organization of ideas. In addition, interviews revealed five main causes of low writing ability: limited mastery of grammar and vocabulary, lack of writing practice, low motivation and confidence, unsupportive learning methods, and lack of access to writing assistive technology. This study recommends the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning, the use of assistive technology, and the provision of formative feedback to improve students' writing skills. In addition, continuous writing practice programs and collaboration through peer review are also considered effective for building writing skills.

Abstract

An inguinal hernia is a condition of protrusion of an intestinal organ into a cavity through a defect or thin or weak part of the wall of the inguinal ring. The material that enters is more often the small intestine, but can also be fatty tissue or omentum. Inguinal hernias account for 75% of all hernias. The comparative incidence of inguinal hernia is 13.9% in men and 2.1% in women. The risk of incidence increases fourfold in patients with a family history of inguinal hernia compared to patients without a family history. The classification of inguinal hernia consists of lateral inguinal hernia, medial inguinal hernia, and pantalone hernia. Planned (elective) herniotomy surgery is the main management after diagnosis to avoid incarceration. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of female members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) in Sumbawa Regency during the 2019–2024 period through three main indicators: accountability, responsiveness, and effectiveness, as well as to identify the internal and external factors that influence their performance. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that accountability is reflected through transparent activity reporting and public openness. Responsiveness is demonstrated by their attention to public aspirations, particularly from vulnerable groups such as women, WRSE, and low-income communities. The effectiveness of legislative and oversight duties is relatively good, although they still face structural barriers and patriarchal cultural norms. Internal factors that influence their performance include motivation, capability, personality, and health conditions. Meanwhile, external factors encompass organizational culture, compensation systems, the use of technology, and support for training and development. This study concludes that the presence of women in the DPRD has made a real contribution to local political processes, although strengthening their substantive representation remains necessary to ensure their roles are not merely symbolic.

Abstract

Poverty is a condition of inability to meet basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, education, and health. The implementation of Sumbawa Regency Government Regulation Number 22 of 2022 concerning poverty alleviation in Sumbawa Regency is expected to reduce the poverty rate in Sumbawa Regency. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods and data collection techniques using observation, interview and documentation techniques. This study uses the theory of policy implementation from Ripley & Franklin. The results of the study show that the poverty line in Sumbawa can really be the center of attention. To measure the poverty line, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) uses the concept of the ability to meet basic needs (basic needs approach), namely the inability from an economic perspective to meet basic food and non-food needs as measured by expenditure. Referring to a survey conducted by the United Nations (UN), recording expenditure tends to better describe the economic condition/purchasing power of a household compared to information related to income which tends to be unreliable. The conclusion of this study is that in 2021, there was a spike in poverty due to the outbreak. However, the government optimized its efforts by creating programs to minimize the problem of poverty so that it did not increase significantly, one of which was the Direct Cash Assistance (BLT). This program, one of the programs implemented by the government in 2021, ran smoothly. According to the Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the poverty rate in 2022 again experienced a significant decline of 1.92% to 64,730 people. This decline in the poverty population in 2022 was the fastest compared to previous years.

Abstract

Learning Arabic for students at the Mutmainnah Batualang Elementary School (MI) is crucial for providing a foundational understanding of Islam and broadening cultural horizons. This learning aims to equip students with Arabic language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Learning Arabic for MI (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) students is crucial for helping them understand Islamic teachings, particularly the Quran and Hadith. Learning Arabic from an early age, especially at MI, can establish a solid religious foundation in children and foster a positive attitude toward Arabic. This study employed descriptive qualitative research methods and data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The conclusion of this study is that learning Arabic is often a daunting subject for students in schools and madrasas. Many students dislike Arabic lessons, despite the importance of Arabic in the Islamic world. However, many students still dislike Arabic lessons. Therefore, changes in the teaching of Arabic are needed. One of these is the need to change the teaching methods used to foster students' interest in Arabic. Once they are interested in Arabic, they will be able to participate enthusiastically without any coercion or pressure. This way, the Arabic learning process will proceed according to plan and students will absorb it easily and enjoyably.

Abstract

Rapid development in Banyuwangi Regency has presented a serious challenge in the form of increasing HIV and AIDS cases. This phenomenon is ironic for a region currently transforming into a leading tourist destination, and also illustrates the gap between the success of physical development and the community's social preparedness to face its negative impacts. The increasing number of people living with HIV (PLWHA) is not only a health issue but also an indicator of systemic failure in social protection and the effectiveness of public policies. This research is based on a qualitative descriptive approach. The purpose of the study is to describe and analyze the role of the Banyuwangi Regency Health Office, as the leading sector of the Banyuwangi Regency Government, in implementing Regional Regulation Number 5 of 2017 on HIV and AIDS management in Banyuwangi Regency. The study concludes that the implementation of Regional Regulation Number 5 of 2017 by the Banyuwangi Regency Health Office in addressing HIV and AIDS has been structured through a collaborative and integrative approach. However, significant challenges remain, such as the high number of PLWHA cases in Banyuwangi Regency, social stigma against PLWHA, limited access to health services, and suboptimal education and community participation.

Abstract

Lack of knowledge about the antibiotic DAGUSIBU can lead to drug resistance. This occurs because inappropriate use of the drug, inappropriate dosage, and a lack of understanding of the indications of the drug being consumed can cause the drug to not work properly in the body, thus causing harm. Therefore, the risk of drug resistance is unavoidable. Age, gender, residence, education, and income are all contributing factors to the level of antibiotic knowledge. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between sociodemographic characteristics and the level of knowledge about the antibiotic DAGUSIBU among the community in Bulu Village, Jepara. This study used a correlational analysis design with a cross-sectional study approach. The sample for this study was 115 respondents aged 15-50 years old, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The obtained data were analyzed using a correlation test, namely the chi-square test. After testing, the results showed that sociodemographic characteristics based on gender, age, highest education, occupation, and income were significantly associated with the level of knowledge about the antibiotic DAGUSIBU among the community in Bulu Village, Jepara. Further research using a questionnaire method and supplemented with leaflet education is needed to assess the community's level of knowledge about the antibiotic DAGUSIBU, both before and after the education.
