Abstract

This study aims to explore and document the mathematical concepts (ethnomathematics) contained in the Pahudu Andung motif (human motif) on the Pahikung woven cloth typical of Melolo, East Sumba. Through an ethnographic approach, this study explores the cultural, historical, and technical dimensions of the motif's creation, which have been passed down through generations. Data were collected through participatory observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with three expert weavers (tenabi) in the Umalulu region. The results show that the Pahudu Andung motif is not merely a decorative element, but rather a visual representation rich in the geometric concepts of transformation and plane shapes. Ethnomathematic analysis identified the application of the principle of bilateral symmetry (reflection) in the body structure of the motif, translation in the repetition of the "X" pattern, and dilation (scale) in the rhombus shape. In addition, the use of basic geometric shapes such as a trapezoid as a foundation, a rectangle on the trunk, and a rhombus on the head with precise acute-angled details was found. This study concludes that local weavers have intuitively applied complex geometric concepts in preserving the philosophical values ??of victory and strength through woven art.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers’ resistance toward the implementation of the deep learning approach within the Merdeka Curriculum and to examine the role of growth mindset in reducing such resistance in order to support the achievement of national education goals. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach supported by quantitative data obtained through a closed-ended questionnaire distributed to teachers across several regions in Indonesia via Google Forms. The instrument consisted of ten questionnaire items representing the variables of resistance to deep learning and growth mindset. Data were analyzed using simple descriptive statistics. The findings indicate that teachers’ resistance should not merely be interpreted as a form of rejection, but rather as a rational response to various challenges, including limited pedagogical competence, insufficient professional training, heavy administrative workloads, and inadequate educational facilities and infrastructure. In addition, some teachers perceived that the deep learning approach had not yet demonstrated significant differences compared to previous instructional approaches, particularly in improving academic achievement and fostering students’ character development. This condition reflects a gap between policy expectations and classroom realities, suggesting that the implementation process remains in a transitional phase. Nevertheless, growth mindset plays a significant role in reducing teachers’ resistance, as educators with a growth-oriented mindset tend to be more open to change, adaptive, and reflective in improving the quality of learning practices. Therefore, the successful implementation of deep learning largely depends on teachers’ readiness, systemic support, and the transformation of educators’ mindsets through comprehensive efforts, such as simplifying administrative demands, improving the quality of professional development programs, and strengthening the learning ecosystem to ensure that educational practices can be implemented effectively and sustainably

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between a Qur’anic values-based Deep Learning approach and junior high school students’ Mathematics Academic Competency Test (ACT) outcomes. The study responds to a critical instructional issue in mathematics education: learning is often reduced to procedural fluency, while contemporary academic assessment requires conceptual understanding, reasoning, reflective judgment, and knowledge transfer. In Islamic educational contexts, this issue is particularly significant because Qur’an-memorizing students possess disciplined learning dispositions that can be pedagogically activated through meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning experiences. This quantitative correlational study involved 40 junior high school students who had memorized at least Juz 30 of the Qur’an. The data consisted of Qur’anic values-based Deep Learning scores and Mathematics ACT scores. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Spearman’s rho correlation, and simple linear regression. The findings showed that the Deep Learning score had a mean of 71.00 (SD = 12.82), while the Mathematics ACT score had a mean of 77.33 (SD = 11.74). Since the data were not normally distributed, Spearman’s rho was applied. The analysis revealed a very strong and significant positive relationship between the variables (rs = 0.991; p < 0.001), with regression explaining 98.2% of the variance in Mathematics ACT outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the achievement of formative test results of fifth grade students on the main idea of paragraphs based on Bloom's taxonomy (C1-C6) in elementary schools. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The subjects of this study were 15 students of grade V.B of SD Negeri 1 Makarti Jaya. The instrument used was a formative test in the form of essay questions arranged based on Bloom's taxonomy cognitive level. The research data were obtained through formative test results which were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and percentage of achievement. The results showed that the average score of students was 75 with a median of 77, mode of 75, minimum score of 37, and maximum of 95, and a standard deviation of 17.8. A total of 11 students had achieved learning mastery, while 4 students had not yet completed and needed remedial. After remedial and enrichment, the final results showed that 13 students (86.67%) were in the very good category and 2 students (13.33%) were in the good category. Based on the cognitive level analysis, students' abilities at the low to intermediate levels (C1–C3) are classified as good, while those at the high levels (C4–C6) still need improvement. Thus, it can be concluded that students' formative test results on the main idea of paragraphs are generally in the good category, but efforts are needed to improve higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

This study analyses the influence of digital literacy on the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) competencies of high school students. Digital literacy is one of the key 21st-century competencies that plays a role in helping students access, evaluate, and utilize digital information to support STEM learning. The study employed a quantitative approach using a survey design that involved 133 high school students as respondents. Data were collected using digital literacy and STEM competency questionnaires that met validity and reliability criteria. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and linear regression. The results indicate that students’ digital literacy levels fall into the high category (M = 3.968; ? = 0.890), and their STEM competencies also fall into the high category (M = 3.618; ? = 0.899). Correlation analysis showed a positive and significant relationship between digital literacy and STEM competencies (r = 0.661; p < 0.001). Regression results indicate that digital literacy has a positive and significant effect on STEM competencies (? = 0.694; t = 10.078; p < 0.001), contributing 43.7% (R² = 0.437). These findings suggest that strengthening the digital literacy can be an effective strategy for improving students’ STEM competencies and supporting their readiness to face 21st-century challenges.

Abstract

In the era of digital transformation and the green economy, women's participation in STEM fields as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is essential to achieving gender equality and meeting labour market needs. Gender differences in STEM education and employment continue to exist in many countries despite various laws intended to boost women's involvement. The purpose of this project is to investigate research trends, participation types, obstacles, and career development tactics for women in STEM and TVET between 2022 and 2026. The PRISMA 2020 guidelines were followed for conducting a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Using keywords like women, STEM, TVET, gender equality, and career development, articles were located in the ScienceDirect database. The results show that there has been an upsurge in study on women in STEM and TVET, with an emphasis on career development, mentorship, role models, gender hurdles, and women's involvement. Gender stereotypes, discrimination, poor self-efficacy, and restricted access to mentors and professional networks are the most commonly mentioned obstacles. Strengthening mentorship programs, offering female role models, fostering digital capabilities, and enacting more equitable labour and education laws are among suggested tactics. The findings of this study have significance for developing gender-equitable vocational education programs that support women's long-term employment in STEM fields.
