Abstract

The lack of a regular maintenance schedule system and millennial farmers' lack of knowledge about maintaining tobacco shredding machines are the issues facing Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Magelang.  This scenario results in less than ideal shredded quality and frequent machine failures.  Enhancing farmers' knowledge and proficiency in maintenance, repair, and information technology use for scheduling machine maintenance is the aim of this community service project. The implementation approach consists of training in the use of basic digital programs to record and arrange maintenance schedules, hands-on machine maintenance and repair practice, and teaching through the supply of materials.  Thirteen ladies and seventeen males made up the 30 participants in the exercise. With participants' average comprehension rising from 22% prior to the activity to 86% following it, the outcomes discussed shown a notable improvement. It has been demonstrated that machine maintenance results in finer and more consistent shredded tobacco, and the application of information technology facilitates efficient and sustainable scheduling for participants.  The community service project was successful in enhancing the quality of the shredded output, maximizing machine performance, and motivating millennial farmers to be more flexible when it comes to using information technology in tobacco farming.

Abstract

The Vocational High School students often face challenges in transitioning from the academic environment to the workforce, particularly in non technical skills. To address the crucial need for soft skills development, a One Day Workshop was implemented focused on professionalism, ethics and safety culture for the students. The workshop entitled “From School to the Workplace: Professionalism, Ethics and Safety,” was held at SMKN 1 Muara Teweh  and employed interactive methods, including direct instruction on growth mindset and personal branding, case study discussions and group brainstorming sessions. A Pre-Test and Post-Test were conducted to measure changes in knowledge and perceptions. Key findings revealed a 13% reduction in fixed mindset misconceptions, a 10% increase in the recognition of work integrity and 10% improvement in understanding the purpose of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). Perception of failure as a learning opportunity increased by 24%, belief in the ability to develop skills improved by 14% and a sense of responsibility for safety rose by 10%. Participant feedback on the workshop’s quality was positive in all categories, with mean rating scored 4.6 out of 5 point scale. This workshop proved to be an effective and engaging method for enhancing vocational students’ conceptual understanding of soft skills. The outcomes highlight the necessity of embedding such targeted and interactive refreshment or training sessions within the vocational education curriculum.

Abstract

In Indonesia, child protection is specifically governed by Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning the Amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 on Child Protection. Mojokerto recorded a total of 49 cases of violence against women and children in 2024. According to data from the Integrated Service Center for Women's and Children's Empowerment (P2TP2A) of Mojokerto City, the majority of the victims were children, specifically 37 individuals ranging in age from toddlers up to 16 years old. This activity was aimed at enhancing the understanding, knowledge, and awareness of family law, with a particular focus on child protection and rights. The methodology involved observation, socialization, and relevant discussions. The session involved 27 participants who are members and board members of the Public Participation Forum for Women's and Children's Welfare (PUSPA), operating under the Mojokerto City Social Service. The outcome demonstrated that 85.2% of the participants understood and applied the Child Protection regulations and laws within their family lives. With this high level of understanding and implementation, there is an opportunity to create an effective intervention model that can help optimize child protection in Indonesia.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the MEK PCM Rungkut area face challenges in digital literacy, particularly in searching for information online, accessing relevant websites, and using email for business communication. These limitations hinder their operational activities, reduce opportunities to utilize digital platforms, and restrict access to broader market opportunities. This community service program is designed to improve the basic digital skills of MSMEs through digital literacy training on the use of internet and email. The methods employed include observation and interviews to identify partner needs, training on information searching, website access, and email usage, as well as evaluation through pre- and post-tests. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive approach and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that 18 out of 20 participants experienced an increase in their post-test scores, with all final scores reaching ≥ 70, indicating that the minimum competency standard had been achieved. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.012 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant improvement in participants' understanding before and after the training. In addition, participants demonstrated positive changes in independently seeking information and using email for business purposes. This study concludes that the program was effective in improving basic digital literacy among MSMEs. Further recommendations include continuous mentoring to support participants in developing more advanced digital skills, particularly in digital marketing and the utilization of other technology-based services.
