Abstract

Talent and interest are important components that are interconnected in helping children develop, especially in achieving educational goals. Talent is an innate potential that needs to be trained and developed in a structured manner, while interest is an individual's tendency to focus on things they like. Lack of attention to children's talents and interests can hinder the development of their potential. In addition, lack of facilities and pressure from schoolwork are often the main obstacles. Psychoeducation is one of the effective interventions to help children and teachers recognize and develop children's talents and interests optimally. This community service activity was carried out at SDS Punna Karya, Curug, Tangerang, involving students in grades 1–6 and teachers as participants. This activity is intended to provide students with a new understanding of the importance of identifying their interests and talents to discover their potential, set goals, and stay motivated to learn. For one month (October 11 to November 2, 2023), this program was implemented with a qualitative approach through the psychoeducational method. The results of the community service showed that providing psychoeducation helped students understand their interests and talents, increased their motivation to learn, and encouraged them to be more confident in exploring their potential. In addition, support from the school, teachers, and the surrounding environment plays an important role in the success of developing children's talents and interests. By maximizing their potential, children are expected to be able to achieve optimal results in their education and life.

Abstract

Mental health issues among university students have become an increasingly urgent concern, including at Duta Wacana Christian University (UKDW) Yogyakarta, which currently has around 3,500 active students. This community service program aimed to enhance social support and promote preventive efforts against mental health problems through the establishment of peer counselors within the campus environment. The program was implemented from January to March 2024, with student participants from the Counseling Division of LPKKSK UKDW as the main target group. The implementation was carried out in several stages: participant selection, basic counseling skills training conducted over three sessions, roleplay practice, and a final stage involving the socialization of the counseling service flow and referral system. The results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge and counseling skills, as evidenced by the paired samples t-test, which yielded a p-value of 0.016. The rise in average scores from pre-test to post-test, along with reduced score variance among participants, reflects the uniform effectiveness of the training provided. The implication of this program highlights that involving peer counselors can serve as an effective solution to the limited availability of professional counselors on campus. Moreover, it strengthens a community-based support ecosystem, empowers students as agents of change, and offers a scalable model for psychosocial intervention that could be replicated in other higher education settings.

Abstract

Seniors need to exercise to stay healthy and fit. This community service program aims to encourage seniors to practice a series of healthy exercises that are easy for them to implement in their daily activities and also to measure their body composition, so that they are more enthusiastic about improving their physical wellness. This healthy exercise training for seniors focuses on the composition of their muscles, fat, and bones. Body composition measurements use a Smart BMI Scale that can measure body weight, body fat, water content, muscle mass, physical rating, calorie needs, cell age, bone density, abdominal fat, fat content, bone mass, and posture. The results showed that most seniors had difficulty following the trainer's instructions during healthy exercises due to stiff bodies and a lack of structured movements. In addition, some seniors' body composition was less than ideal. This exercise made seniors happier and more energetic. Through these two activities, seniors committed to implementing light exercise in their daily lives and maintaining body composition by paying attention to diet, regulating mindsets, and improving movement patterns.

Abstract

Sumedang Regency is a regency in West Java with potential for UMKM development. One of the UMKMs operating in the culinary sector in Sumedang Regency is Limasan's Finest. This restaurant, which carries the theme of traditional food, has two sub-brands named Kinca Ipung and Nose Radar. However, there is a problem where Limasan's Finest does not yet have a complete and consistent visual identity. This issue can be seen from the existence of two completely different menu book designs. For this reason, the community service team provided assistance and developed a new visual identity for this restaurant. The implementation method consisted of an initial survey process, observation, visual identity design, menu book and uniform design, printing, and submission of the results. A total of eight employees, including the restaurant owner, received guidance on the importance of visual identity for a restaurant. The result of the visual identity development is a new logo with a stronger design and a color palette that aligns with the restaurant's philosophy. Both are applied to the menu book design and employee uniforms. In the future, the team will try to collaborate again with Limasan's Finest in developing its new visual identity into other media such as signage, social media, and restaurant interior decorations.

Abstract

The development of financial technology (fintech), especially online loans (pinjol), has provided easy access to financial services, but also poses risks, especially for students who are vulnerable to the trap of illegal pinjol. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of digital financial literacy socialization activities through the "Pinjol Goes to Campus" webinar in increasing students' understanding and critical attitudes towards online loans. The activity was carried out online on May 21, 2024, presenting experienced speakers from the banking industry and academics. A total of 93 students from Universitas Kristen Teknologi Solo and other universities participated in the webinar. The research method used a quantitative approach with a pre-test and post-test design, as well as qualitative analysis of participant feedback. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of 14 of the 15 statements analyzed (p-value <0.05), with an average increase in scores ranging from 0.14 to 1.11. Qualitative analysis showed a positive response from participants to the quality of the material, the professionalism of the speakers, and the relevance of the content. The webinar was proven to be effective in increasing students' digital financial literacy. This activity can be a model of educational intervention to prevent students from getting caught up in detrimental online loan practices.

Abstract

Arjasa Village, Jember Regency, is an independent village with the main potential in the agricultural sector but faces various social and economic challenges. As many as 33% of the population is aged 15-35 years, but the unemployment rate reaches 21%, with 22.5% of families still dependent on social assistance. Most of the population works in the agricultural sector (52.6%), but the majority (62.7%) are farm laborers with limited access to land ownership. In addition, the achievement of the village's SDGs, especially in the aspects of Zero Hunger Villages (SDG 2), Environmentally Aware Villages (SDG 12), and Quality Village Education (SDG 4) is still relatively low. To overcome this challenge, the empowerment of village youth communities through sustainable food and agriculture literacy to realize zero hunger and environmentally aware villages program is designed to increase youth's awareness, skills, and participation in sustainable agriculture and community-based food processing. This program is implemented with a phased approach, starting with strengthening human resources, socialization, implementation, and mentoring. The activities include sustainable agriculture training, agricultural product processing workshops, the formation of youth farmer groups, and the development of community reading gardens to improve food and agricultural literacy. With this program, village youth can act as agents of change in realizing food independent, environmentally friendly, and prosperous villages.

Abstract

Strengthening village governance through local wisdom and simple digital technology is a strategic approach to addressing participation and transparency challenges. This community engagement program was implemented in Busalangga Barat Village, Rote Ndao Regency, aiming to revitalize the local value of madene and introduce a Microsoft Excel VBA-based village administration information system. The program utilized community education, technology simulation, advocacy, mediation, and consultation methods, structured into four stages: problem identification, material development, core implementation, and remote monitoring and evaluation. The program began with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving traditional leaders, village officials, youth, and women's groups. The discussion generated a shared awareness that madene—as a cultural expression of mutual cooperation—remains relevant in restoring participatory governance and village deliberation practices. The system training enabled village officials to manage population data and generate administrative documents automatically. The application also integrates real-time population updates, such as changes following birth, death, or migration events. This activity demonstrates that cross-regional collaboration combining local values with appropriate digital technology can drive social transformation and improve public service delivery at the village level. This model is adaptable and replicable in other rural contexts with appropriate adjustments.

Abstract

This community service activity targets a home industry known as Rumah Produksi Sirup Jeruk Terusan, located in Desa Terusan, Musi Rawas Utara Regency, which serves as a center for citrus cultivation. The primary issues faced by the partner include limited understanding of modern management, especially in financial management, business planning, and human resource management; underutilization of digital marketing; and challenges related to access and management of digital technology. The objectives of this activity were to enhance the managerial skills of the partner through modern management practices, optimize the use of digital marketing technologies such as social media, websites, and WhatsApp API integration, and strengthen the competitiveness of local products in broader markets. The implementation method consisted of systematic stages: socialization, training, technology application, mentoring, evaluation, and program sustainability efforts. The results of the activity showed a significant improvement in the managerial capacity of the partner. Based on the pretest and posttest evaluations, the recap indicated a considerable increase. The average improvement in managerial skills after participating in the series of training and mentoring activities reached 35.3%. This improvement confirms that the implemented program successfully delivered a tangible impact on enhancing the partner’s knowledge and skills in applying modern management practices.. Furthermore, the partner successfully developed an active e-commerce website integrated with a WhatsApp API Gateway system to facilitate swift and efficient communication and product ordering. The website is accessible at https://siruplimau-desaterusan.com/. The adoption of this digital platform is expected to drive the expansion of Sirup Jeruk Terusan's market reach and enhance business professionalism. This activity confirms that integrating modern management with digital technology can effectively improve marketing efficiency and the competitiveness of MSME products. Future development is recommended to focus on strengthening human resource capacity and expanding integration with other e-commerce platforms to increase market penetration.

Abstract

Limited land and low digital literacy are major problems for women in rural areas in developing productive economic activities. This Community Service Program (PkM) aims to empower members of the PKK (Family Welfare Movement) in Sidorame Hamlet, Gunungan Village, Dawar Blandong Subdistrict, Mojokerto Regency through the application of Internet of Things (IoT)-based Fish Farming in Buckets (Budikdamber) technology and Smart Online Marketing training. The implementation method uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach that emphasizes the active participation of partners in every stage of the activity, from equipment installation, cultivation training, to digital marketing. The results of the activity show that the application of IoT technology increased catfish production efficiency by up to 30%, while online marketing training increased partners' digital literacy and social media engagement by 250% in the first two weeks. Socially, this activity encouraged the formation of a Budikdamber management group and a digital marketing team that act as local drivers in home-based businesses. This program proves that the integration of appropriate technology and digital marketing can increase the economic independence of rural women while strengthening family food security. Moving forward, activity development can be directed toward diversifying processed fish products and integrating aquaponics systems to create more sustainable economic added value.
