Abstract

Background: Hypertension is still one of the major health problems in Indonesia, especially in women of childbearing age (WUS). Management of hypertension through non-pharmacological methods such as exercise and spiritual approaches has proven to be effective and efficient. Brisk Walking Exercise (BWE) and Dzikir Asma'ul Husna (DAH) Meditation are promising interventions in holistic blood pressure control. Objective: To determine the efficacy of the combination of Brisk Walking Exercise and Dzikir Asma'ul Husna Meditation (BWE-DAH) on systolic and diastolic blood pressure in women of childbearing age with hypertension. Methods: The research design is quasi-experimental with pre-post test control group design. The sample amounted to 34 women of childbearing age who were divided into two groups, namely the intervention group (BWE-DAH) and the control group (BWE alone). The intervention was conducted for 2 weeks. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: The intervention group showed a significant reduction in systolic (mean reduction 17.4 mmHg) and diastolic (mean reduction 7.7 mmHg) blood pressure (p<0.05). The control group only showed a significant reduction in diastolic pressure (mean 3.4 mmHg). Comparison between groups showed significant differences in systolic blood pressure, but not in diastolic blood pressure. Conclusion: The combination of Brisk Walking Exercise and Dzikir Asma'ul Husna Meditation is more effective in reducing systolic blood pressure than Brisk Walking Exercise alone. These results suggest that a spiritual approach can strengthen the effectiveness of physical interventions in the management of hypertension.

Abstract

Introduction: The length of a baby's birth can describe linear growth during pregnancy. If a baby is born with a short body length, it indicates a disorder during pregnancy which usually indicates a state of malnutrition suffered by the mother. Short birth length is a risk factor for stunting Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between short birth length and the incidence of stunting Methods: The type of research used was correlation analytic with a cross-sectional design. The research location was at the Bengkuring Health Center, Samarinda City, East Kalimantan Province. The number of samples was 30 people with inclusion criteria, toddlers aged 2-5 years who experienced stunting with a history of mothers giving birth at term. The sampling technique used was Purposive Sampling. Data collection used KIA books, Microtoise to measure toddler height, scales to measure toddler weight, KMS sheets to see the baby's birth length, and nutritional reports at the Health Center. Data analysis techniques used univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test Results: Most of the children's birth weight is normal (2500-4000 gr) totaling 23 people (76.7%), then the birth length of the children is mostly short (<48 cm) totaling 20 people (66.7%). All toddlers in this study were classified as stunted, namely 30 people (100%). Bivariate analysis using the chi-square test with a ρ-value = 0.000 Conclusions: There is a relationship between short birth length and the incidence of stunting

Abstract

Hypertension is often referred to as the "silent killer" because it frequently shows no symptoms. In Indonesia, hypertension continues to rise year after year, with the incidence in 2018 reaching 658,201 cases (34.11%). The causes of hypertension are closely related to age and gender factors. Therefore, non-pharmacological nursing interventions are needed to address this, such as the five-finger hypnosis technique. Five-finger hypnosis involves focusing the mind on images or memories created while touching each of the five fingers in sequence, all in a relaxed state. This study aims to analyze the application of five-finger hypnosis in nursing care for hypertensive patients. The research method used is a case study with the implementation of the five-finger hypnosis nursing intervention. The respondents in this study consisted of five participants diagnosed with hypertension. The patients were taught the five-finger hypnosis technique for approximately 15 minutes. The results showed a decrease in blood pressure after the five-finger hypnosis therapy, with the five respondents (100%) showing an average systolic blood pressure of 146 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure of 91.6 mmHg, and mean arterial pressure (MAP) of 109.74 mmHg. It can be concluded that the five-finger hypnosis therapy is effective in reducing the blood pressure of hypertensive patients. Future researchers are encouraged to extend the duration of five-finger hypnosis therapy for hypertensive patients to achieve a more significant reduction in blood pressure.

Abstract

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease, which involves lasting impairment of kidney function, can cause respiratory issues among various other systemic complications. Breathlessness is a common symptom that patients face, and if it goes unaddressed, it can worsen their overall health condition.. Objectives: The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of the semi-Fowler position in boosting oxygen saturation and decreasing the respiratory rate in chronic kidney disease patients receiving treatment in the Emergency Department. Methods: This investigation adopted a descriptive case study method focusing on two individuals who experienced breathing difficulties due to chronic kidney disease. Interventions included the provision of oxygen and repositioning the patients into the semi-Fowler position for four hours of monitoring. The gathered data included oxygen saturation levels and respiratory rates measured before and after the intervention. Results: After being positioned in the semi-Fowler setup, both patients exhibited notable improvements in oxygen saturation and reductions in respiratory rates. Oxygen saturation levels rose from 83–94% to 99–100%, while the respiratory rate declined from 30–32 breaths per minute to 26–28 breaths per minute. Conclusions: Positioning patients in the semi-Fowler posture has been shown to effectively enhance respiratory function in individuals with chronic kidney disease within the emergency setting. This method can serve as a first-line non-invasive nursing intervention to promote patient comfort and help maintain the stability of their condition.
