Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common comorbid conditions found in patients undergoing surgical procedures. In both major and minor surgeries, anesthesia is a crucial stage of perioperative management. Spinal anesthesia is a form of regional anesthesia performed by injecting a local anesthetic agent into the subarachnoid space. This study aimed to determine and compare the mean time required to achieve Bromage Score 3 in ASA II and ASA III patients undergoing spinal anesthesia with a Subarachnoid Block technique. This study employed a quantitative research method, as the data obtained were numerical in nature, specifically the time required to achieve Bromage Score 3. An observational analytic design was used, which is intended to analyze relationships or differences between variables without providing any intervention to the research subjects. The results of the Mann-Whitney test demonstrated a statistically significant difference between the ASA II and ASA III groups in achieving Bromage Score 3, with a p-value of 0.002 (<0.05). The mean rank value in the ASA III group (13.17) was higher than that in the ASA II group (5.85), indicating that the time required to achieve Bromage Score 3 tended to be shorter in ASA II patients than in ASA III patients.

Abstract

Early childhood health literacy is essential for shaping clean and healthy living habits, yet children often struggle to understand health messages due to limited receptive and expressive language skills. This study aimed to describe the implementation of the storytelling method in improving the receptive and expressive language abilities of group A children in relation to health literacy. The research used a descriptive qualitative case study approach involving 14 children at RA Manda. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers, and documentation of children’s developmental portfolios. The findings show that contextual storytelling stimulated children’s ability to listen to storylines, understand PHBS instructions, answer guiding questions, retell the story, and express emotions and messages from the characters. The auditory and visual stimulation structured by the teacher helped children transform abstract health concepts into concrete understanding. The study concludes that health-literacy-based storytelling is an effective linguistic bridge for optimizing early childhood receptive and expressive language development.

Abstract

SMP Negeri 2 Kretek is located in a zone identified as having a potential tsunami inundation depth of 6-10 meters, as it lies 2.500 meters from the coastline. Student preparedness in dealing earthquakes and tsunamis is influenced by various factors, one of which is attitude. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between attitude and preparedness in dealing earthquakes and tsunamis among students of SMP Negeri 2 Kretek. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method with a cross-sectional study approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, involving a sample of 82 students. Data collection methods included an attitude questionnaire adapted from General Disaster Preparedness Belief (GDPB) and a preparedness questionnaire adapted from LIPI/UNESCO/ISDR. The results showed that the attitude level of students at SMP Negeri 2 Kretek showed an average of moderate attitude in 63 students (76.8%). The students' preparedness level predominantly demonstrated moderate preparedness in 64 students (78%). A significant relationship was found between attitude and preparedness, indicated by a significance value (p=0.000) with a correlation coefficient of 0.549, which falls into the moderate category. The school is advised to be more active in promoting earthquake and tsunami preparedness to students through training and counseling.

Abstract

Achieving suboptimal exclusive breastfeeding rates remains a challenge in supporting maternal and infant health. Contributing factors include mothers insufficient awareness of the importance of exclusive breastfeeding. The use of digital technology via QR codes offers a more flexible and accessible alternative for health education. This study aimed to analyze the impact of using QR code-based educational materials on mothers' knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding in Palenca Raya. The study employed a simple experimental design with pre- and post-intervention measurements on a group of participants. Thirty mothers who met the study criteria participated in the activity. Participants' knowledge was measured using a questionnaire distributed before the education and again one week after they accessed the materials via QR codes. Due to the non-normal distribution of the data, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used for analysis. The results showed an increase in knowledge after the intervention, with most participants experiencing an increase in their scores on the final assessment. The difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). These results suggest that QR code-based educational materials have the potential to be used as a health promotion tool to improve mothers' knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding and to advance digital health education in primary healthcare.

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior is a critical public health indicator. In Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, only 58.3% of households practiced clean and healthy living behavior, falling short of the 70% provincial target. Family-based health promotion is considered effective, yet quantitative evidence in the Indonesian local context is limited. Research to analyze the effect of family-based health promotion on community knowledge of clean and healthy living behavior in the working area of Sungai Lokan Public Health Center. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. A total of 97 respondents (household heads and neighborhood leaders) were selected by total sampling. Intervention consisted of two structured health education sessions (90 min each) using leaflets and flip charts. Data were collected via validated questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Prior to the intervention, 73.2% of respondents had poor knowledge. Post-intervention, 71.1% attained good knowledge. Wilcoxon test yielded Z = -8.521, p < 0.001, effect size r = 0.864 (large effect). Family-based health promotion significantly improved PHBS knowledge with a large effect size. It is recommended to integrate this approach into the Healthy Indonesia Program with a Family Approach program at health centers.

Abstract

Perineal sutures in postpartum mothers require proper care to prevent infection and promote faster wound healing. One complementary therapy that may be used is boiled ramie leaf (Boehmeria Nivea), as it contains bioactive compounds with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. This study aimed to determine the effect of boiled ramie leaf (Boehmeria Nivea) on accelerating perineal suture wound healing among postpartum mothers at TPMB Ngadillah, Pakis District, Malang Regency. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 32 postpartum mothers selected through purposive sampling and divided into an intervention group (n = 16) and a control group (n = 16). The findings showed that the mean REEDA score in the intervention group was 2.75, whereas the control group had a mean score of 6.88. The Mann-Whitney test yielded a p-value of less than 0.05, indicating a statistically significant effect of boiled ramie leaf administration on accelerating perineal suture wound healing. Therefore, boiled ramie leaf (Boehmeria Nivea) was proven to be effective in promoting faster healing of perineal sutures in postpartum mothers, as demonstrated by lower REEDA scores compared with the control group.
