Abstract

This study analyzes the monumental painting titled "Lepas" using affect theory to understand how its visual elements trigger emotional and affective responses in viewers. Affect theory serves as a conceptual framework to explore the relationship between the visual aspects of the artwork and their impact on the subjective experience of the audience. Through a qualitative approach and aesthetic analysis methods, this research focuses on elements such as composition, color, scale, and symbolism within the artwork, and how these elements influence the viewers' emotional perception. The findings reveal that "Lepas" successfully creates a profound affective resonance, where viewers not only appreciate the visual aspects of the painting but also experience intense emotional reactions. The affect generated by this work transcends the boundaries of visual aesthetics, making "Lepas" an effective medium for emotional communication. This study contributes to a broader understanding of the role of affect in monumental painting, particularly in the context of visual art appreciation in Indonesia.

Abstract

Culinary in Indonesia is very diverse, including randang, which comes from West Sumatra. Randang is a typical Minangkabau culinary identity known for its deliciousness. Randang has a complex cultural background. In the context of Minangkabau culture, the presentation of randang has a deep symbolic value and cannot be replaced by other dishes, so the term "Kapalo Samba" main course emerged. In the science of Visual Communication Design, the design of information media can be realized in the form of designing a user interface and user experience website. This work can be a solution according to the information that needs to be resolved. The processes carried out include data collection through interviews, literature studies, and questionnaires. The analysis uses the 5W + 1H method so that the Randang Minang Website information media design is created with a mix of design media. The results obtained for the design of Randang Minang information media in the form of a website are informative for desktop, tablet, and mobile versions. The media mix used for Randang Minang is in the form of posters, display stands, social media, x-banners, brochures, and merchandise. Write your abstract here.

Abstract

Abstract

This creation is inspired by a hurricane lantern as the object of creation. The hurricane lantern is chosen as the object because it is one of the items that can remind me of my childhood memories with my father. These memories are from the nights spent in the fields peeling cinnamon bark (cassia vera). The purpose of creating this artwork is to express feelings of longing and affection for my father in the form of black-and-white relief print printmaking. The method used involves several stages: preparation, design, forming, and presentation. This creative process resulted in five black-and-white relief print printmakings, titled "Warmth," "Process," "Struggle," "Memory," and "Story."

Abstract

In the current era, the fashion industry is very developed, high market demand has resulted in mass production of clothing. To prevent the occurrence of fast fashion, world fashion players have now implemented a sustainability system which is done by producing clothes from fabrics made from natural fabric, minimal patterns, and using natural textile dyes. In Indonesia, people now know more about sustainable fashion, one of which is the application of natural textile dyes to fashion products. With abundant natural resources, especially plant species, it can be utilized and has the potential to be developed. One of them is cocoa, cocoa plantations in Indonesia are very developed, especially in Jembrana Regency, Bali, which is the largest cocoa producer in Bali. Cocoa shells are waste that has not been utilized much, in this paper we will present a new innovation in the form of textile dyes from cocoa shell waste, which is expected to help reduce chemical dye pollution in the environment and develop local regional potential in terms of the welfare of local farmers.

Abstract

Gentala Arasy Tower is an icon of Jambi City and a tourist destination that residents and domestic tourists widely visit. The government targets Jambi as one of the provinces that makes the tourism sector one of the priorities for regional development. However, the infrastructure in the tourist area is not yet adequate to encourage this achievement, one of which is the absence of signage or a sign system and directions in the Gentala Arasy area. Signage is one of the important facilities to support the mobility of tourists or even residents who have never visited and do not know what is in the Gentala Arasy tourist area. The design of signage in the Gentala Arasy tourist area is expected to help tourists easily access tourist locations and public facilities properly and communicate important information while in the tourist area. The signage design is not only intended as a sign system and directions but also as a strengthening of the image and visual identity of the Gentala Arasy tourist area. The signage design uses bright colours with sans-serif typography so that visitors can easily recognise and read the signage, along with the information content and signs. The placement of signage in the tourist area is adjusted based on the category of form and function.

Abstract

The creation of the poster “Masterpiece of West Java Culture” stems from the richness of Sundanese tradition, particularly “wayang golek”, which combines visual performance with oral heritage. The primary aim of this creation is to present a poster as a representation of Sundanese cultural identity through a reinterpretation of the oral essence and symbolic philosophy of “wayang golek” into a contemporary visual language. The creative process was carried out using a practice-based method that included exploration, experimentation, and visual recontextualization. The traditional forms and narratives of “wayang golek” were studied and transformed into modern graphic expression without eliminating their cultural depth. One significant visual decision was the use of eye colors—blue and red—symbolizing tranquility and wisdom on one hand, and vitality and passionate energy on the other. This duality reflects the philosophical values of balance and harmony deeply rooted in Nusantara culture. The resulting creation produced the poster ‘Masterpiece of West Java Culture”, which functions not only as a visual artifact but also as a cultural statement. This work bridges oral tradition with contemporary design, offering a new perspective for international audiences to appreciate Sundanese cultural identity in the modern era.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to apply ash glaze—specifically jackfruit leaf ash—to ceramic works in order to enhance their aesthetic value. The study involved expertise from both fine arts, particularly ceramic art, and chemical engineering, and was conducted using an inquiry-based research approach. An experimental method was employed, specifically a pre-experimental intact-group comparison design, with samples divided into four formulas containing different ash mixtures. In this study, organic ash was blended with Kebumen soil, Sukabumi soil, and ready-to-use transparent glazes (F.107 and F.3T). The results demonstrated that jackfruit leaf ash glaze produced unique textural characteristics and natural color tones (including white-gray, cream, beige, and brown), with transparent, opaque, and semi-matte glaze qualities. Furthermore, this ash glaze was applied as a decorative finish on functional ceramic craft products, either as a single formula, in combination with other jackfruit ash glaze formulas, or with the addition of oxide colorants. Adjustments were also made to the glaze composition percentages to achieve varied visual effects. The ceramics used in this study were made from Sukabumi clay, which proved to be well-suited to the jackfruit leaf ash glaze formulation.

Abstract

The Silungkang Art Center is a commercial hub that offers various Minangkabau handicrafts produced by local artisans. The purpose of this study is to explore: (1) the influence of brand experience on consumer brand loyalty, and (2) the influence of brand trust on brand loyalty at the Silungkang Art Center. The study is conducted using an explanatory design to identify causal relationships among variables, supported by a quantitative approach and statistical analysis. The empirical evidence suggests that brand experience (BE) has a positive association with brand trust (BT), as indicated by an initial sample estimate value of 0.756081. Furthermore, brand trust (BT) positively influences brand loyalty (BL), with an initial sample estimate value of 0.470450. These findings demonstrate that both brand experience and brand trust play significant roles in strengthening consumer brand loyalty toward the Silungkang Art Center.
