ABDIRA (Journal of Community Service): Journal of Community Service contains the results of community service and empowerment activities in the form of application of various fields of science including health, education, engineering, agriculture, agriculture, social humanities, computers, entrepreneurship and economics. The purpose of this journal is to disseminate ideas and results of the dedication and research conducted by universities that can be applied in society. Abstract

Domestic Violence (DV) and psychological trauma remain significant social and public health concerns that require comprehensive interventions, particularly among coastal communities with limited access to information and protection services. This Community Partnership Program (PKM) was designed to enhance the knowledge, awareness, and capacity of the coastal community of Lake Wette'e in preventing domestic violence and addressing psychological trauma through health education and digital technology-based interventions. The program was implemented through stakeholder coordination, module development, community outreach, health education sessions, cadre training, community mentoring, and the implementation of the SIPAKALEBI application (Empathy-Based Protection Information and Ready-to-Report System) as a platform for education, reporting, and referral services. The results demonstrated a substantial improvement in participants' knowledge, with the average score increasing from 58.4 in the pre-test to 85.7 in the post-test (a 45.0% increase). Community cadres and participants showed enhanced competencies in the early detection of domestic violence, identification of psychological trauma symptoms, and understanding of reporting and victim support mechanisms. The implementation of SIPAKALEBI received positive responses from participants as an innovative community-based digital solution for strengthening the protection of women and families. These findings, consistent with the broader evidence base on technology-assisted and community health worker-delivered interventions, indicate that the integration of health education, community empowerment, and digital technology is an effective strategy for strengthening domestic violence prevention and psychological trauma management at the community level.

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is an important effort in establishing healthy habits from an early age. However, students' low understanding of PHBS behavior, particularly regarding proper handwashing with soap (CTPS) and proper tooth brushing, remains a problem. This community service activity aims to improve students' knowledge and skills regarding PHBS through the Lecture, Demonstration, and Practice (CPDL) method. The activity was held at MI Ma'arif Seworan and KB Ananda Ceria in Seworan Village, Grabag District, Magelang Regency, and involved 56 participants. The activity included preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Education was delivered using PowerPoint presentations, videos, tooth models, liquid soap, and interspersed with games. The activity results showed that most participants were able to practice the steps of CTPS and proper tooth brushing techniques correctly and demonstrated increased understanding based on the socialization and question-and-answer sessions. The CPDL method, combined with hands-on practice and interactive media, effectively improved students' knowledge and skills in implementing PHBS in their daily lives.

Abstract

Limited community knowledge regarding first aid for choking and snakebite emergencies remains a significant public health concern because delayed or inappropriate initial management may increase the risk of complications. Therefore, health education is needed to strengthen community preparedness in responding to emergency situations. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge of Karang Taruna members in Sumurgayam Village regarding first aid for choking and snakebite cases. An interactive lecture using a one-group pre-test–post-test design was conducted with 30 participants. Knowledge was measured using questionnaires administered before and after the educational session and analyzed descriptively. The mean knowledge score increased from 54.67 to 89.83, representing a 64.32% improvement, while the proportion of participants with a high level of knowledge increased from 13.33% to 93.33%. These findings demonstrate that health education effectively improves participants' knowledge and contributes to strengthening community preparedness in providing appropriate first aid during emergencies.

Abstract

One of the fish farming groups in Beji Village is the Banyu Bening fish farming group. This group comprises 15 members who own land for fish farming. The fish farming group faced difficulties because the counting process was carried out manually. This process is time-consuming and lacks accuracy; consequently, the community service team proposed the use of the GURATIS (GURami Automatic CounTIng System) application. This application is used to count gurami fish eggs automatically, thereby simplifying the counting process for fish farmers. Training and guidance are required for the use of this application so that fish farmers can utilise it properly and effectively. The aim of the training was to provide gurami fish farmers with an understanding of how to use the GURATIS application. The method employed comprised three stages: the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the evaluation stage. The outcome was that the farmers gained an understanding of how to use the GURATIS (GURami Automatic CounTIng System) application, thereby simplifying the process of counting gurami fish eggs.

Abstract

Organic waste management in Jatiurip Village, Probolinggo Regency, is still dominated by open burning, so the potential of organic waste as a resource has not been utilized optimally. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of residents and the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) managers in utilizing Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae to process organic waste. The activity consisted of initial assessment, coordination, socialization, training, cultivation practice, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. The results show that participants gained direct experience in sorting organic materials, preparing rearing media, maintaining larvae, and harvesting. The pilot cultivation unit produced approximately 2 kg of maggots in the initial cycle. The harvested maggots can be utilized as an alternative feed ingredient, while the residual frass can potentially be used as organic fertilizer. The activity provides an initial model of bioconversion-based waste management that can be further developed by BUMDes on a sustainable basis.

Abstract

The high cost of commercial fish feed and the underutilization of local resources remain major challenges for fish farming in Tegal Yoso Village, East Lampung Regency. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of local communities in producing fish feed based on taro leaf (Colocasia esculenta) meal as an alternative local feed ingredient. The program employed lectures, science and technology dissemination, demonstrations, and hands-on training involving 25 members of the Fish Farmers Association (Gapokdakan). The results showed improved participants' understanding of fish nutrition, feed formulation, and pellet production techniques, as well as their ability to produce fish feed independently. The formulated feed contained 30.27% crude protein, indicating its potential to meet the nutritional requirements of freshwater fish. This program strengthened community capacity and promoted self-reliance in fish feed production through the utilization of locally available resources.

Abstract

Nusuk Village, in Semidang Gumai Subdistrict, Kaur Regency, Bengkulu Province, generates large quantities of organic waste, including oil palm empty fruit bunches, rice husks, and livestock manure, traditionally burned or left to accumulate, posing environmental risks. This community service program (KKN) aimed to improve residents' knowledge and skills in processing this waste into compost using EM4 bioactivator, palm sugar solution, and dolomite lime as a pH buffer. The program ran for 45 days through a participatory approach, comprising socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation, targeting farmer groups, PKK women's groups, and villagers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and pre-test/post-test questionnaires, then analyzed descriptively, qualitatively and quantitatively. Results showed increased participant understanding and successful production of mature compost with a C/N ratio meeting SNI 19-7030-2004. This activity reduced organic waste volume in Nusuk Village while opening economic opportunities through community-based compost production.

Abstract

The Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDMP) plays a strategic role in strengthening community-based local economic development. However, its implementation in archipelagic regions faces challenges such as weak governance, limited business and financial management capabilities, underutilized local economic potential, and restricted access to markets and digital technology. This community service initiative aims to optimize the role of KDMP in Tafaga Urban Village, Moti District, Ternate City. The methods employed were Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Community Development, encompassing preparation, needs assessment, training, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. The activity involved 30 participants, including cooperative administrators, local government officials, MSME players, and community members. Results showed an increase in the average score from 58.63 (pre-test) to 84.37 (post-test), with a statistically significant paired-sample t-test result (p 0.001). The program successfully strengthened governance, work and business planning, financial administration, and digital promotional media based on local potential, thereby supporting sustainable community economic empowerment.

Abstract

The Student Community Service (KKN) program is a form of student service aimed at helping to resolve various issues faced by local communities. One issue identified in Sinar Surya Village was the low level of nighttime driving safety, caused by inadequate street lighting and a lack of proper road signage. These conditions limited visibility for road users and potentially increased the risk of traffic accidents. To address this, KKN students implemented a road reflector installation program as a preventive measure to enhance road user safety. The implementation process involved field observations, the identification of accident-prone areas, coordination with the local community, raising awareness about the importance of traffic safety, and installing reflectors at strategic locations. The results demonstrated that the installed reflectors improved nighttime visibility, helping road users more clearly identify road boundaries, curves, and surrounding conditions. Furthermore, the initiative raised community awareness regarding the importance of driving safety. This program is expected to contribute to reducing the risk of traffic accidents and serve as an exemplary model of community service that benefits the public.

Abstract

This community service program was carried out through the Book Capt application to address limitations in information accessibility, service transparency, digital promotion, and technological literacy within the Captain SingaLodra (CSL) community. The program aimed to enhance the captains' capabilities in account management, scheduling, and digital marketing. Participatory approaches, including socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation, were employed throughout the implementation. The results demonstrated improvements in digital literacy, more professional service delivery, and higher tourist satisfaction. Of the 30 respondents, the majority reported that they found it easier to access information on pricing, schedule availability, and transparent services. Overall, the program strengthened the competitiveness of the CSL community in the technology-based marine tourism industry.
