Abstract

Empty oil palm bunches (EOPB) are a type of solid waste produced in large quantities during oil palm processing and have not yet been optimally utilized in Padang Panjang Village, Semidang Gumay Subdistrict, Kaur Regency. This community service project aims to provide education, training, and guidance to the community on processing EOPB into environmentally friendly briquettes as an alternative fuel with economic value. The methods used included preparation, outreach, training and hands-on briquette-making practice, simple testing, and evaluation. The results of the activity showed an increase in the community’s knowledge and skills in processing FFB through the processes of drying, carbonization, grinding, mixing with tapioca flour as a binder, molding, and drying. The resulting briquettes are solid in form, do not crumble easily, burn well, and produce little smoke. The utilization of empty oil palm  bunches into briquettes contributes to reducing environmental pollution while opening opportunities for increased community income. However, its development still requires support in the form of equipment, capital, and market access to ensure sustainability.

Abstract

The rise of digital games has led to children playing traditional games less and less. This community service initiative aims to guide children in Juwiring Village in learning about and playing traditional games, as well as to provide a creative space through the Juwiring Folk Festival. The program was held on July 10–12, 2026, using a participatory approach that included community education, demonstrations, hands-on activities, competitions, and workshops to celebrate National Children’s Day. Participants included 33 children in the game introduction session, 32 children in the competitions, 30 children in the money box painting workshop, and 20 PKK mothers in the workshop on decorating tablecloths with patchwork fabric. Evaluation was conducted through observation, documentation, artwork, and informal feedback. The results showed that nearly all the children had mastered engklek and dakon but were not yet familiar with jump rope, gobak sodor, bakiak, and sandal toss. After the mentoring, the children were able to play five of the six games independently, while jump rope still required practice. All the money boxes were completed, and the game inventory was handed over to the village government to support the sustainability of the activity.

Abstract

Monitoring hemoglobin levels and understanding blood group identity are essential aspects of supporting physical health and medical literacy among school-aged adolescents. This community service project aimed to facilitate blood health education (covering ABO systems, Rhesus factor, and anemia prevention), map ABO blood group phenotypes, and detect hemoglobin status among state Islamic senior high school (MAN) students. The implementation combined visual-based interactive education and health screening (blood pressure, direct agglutination ABO grouping, and digital capillary Hb testing). Education was attended by 59 students, with 28 students (47.46%) consenting to health screening, while 31 students (52.54%) declined due to needle phobia (trypanophobia). ABO screening results revealed phenotype distribution dominated by type O (39.29%), A (32.14%), B (25.00%), and AB (3.57%). Hemoglobin testing showed 78.57% normal and 21.43% anemic (17.86% mild; 3.57% moderate). Education and screening effectively expanded blood health awareness and provided baseline student health data in school settings.

Abstract

Strengthening community economic institutions is a crucial strategy for enhancing economic self-reliance in archipelagic regions. A community service initiative in Tafaga Village, Moti District, Ternate City, aimed to build the capacity of the Merah Putih Cooperative’s management and the local community in areas such as institutional governance, business planning, financial management, and marketing. Conducted in July 2026, the program involved 30 participants, including village officials, cooperative administrators, MSME operators, and community members. The activities employed a mix of outreach, training, and participatory discussions, alongside evaluations using pre- and post-tests. Results showed an increase in the participants' average knowledge score from 50.4 to 86.5—a rise of 36.1%. The initiative also produced an organizational structure, a division of duties, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and a cooperative business plan based on local potential. Participant satisfaction exceeded 93% across all evaluation aspects. These findings demonstrate that participatory training and mentoring are effective in strengthening cooperative institutional capacity and fostering sustainable community economic empowerment.

Abstract

Clinic accreditation is an important instrument for ensuring the quality of healthcare services and patient safety. As a newly established primary clinic, Siti Walidah UMSI Clinic in Sinjai Regency faces challenges in meeting accreditation standards, particularly in documentation, staff understanding, and quality management systems. This community service activity aimed to evaluate the clinic’s readiness for accreditation and provide technical assistance to strengthen its quality management system. The implementation used a participatory and educational approach through initial observation, document evaluation, assistance in developing and revising quality documents, document-tracing simulations, and formulation of quality improvement recommendations. The results showed that approximately 80% of the assessment elements were available; however, some had not been systematically documented, and several SOPs had not been updated according to the latest regulations. The assistance resulted in the establishment of an internal quality team, improvement of approximately 80% of policy and SOP documents, and increased staff understanding of accreditation and patient safety.

Abstract

Early marriage remains a social problem that affects adolescents’ health, education, and well-being. The high rate of early marriage in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province indicates the need for preventive efforts starting at school age. This community service activity aimed to improve adolescents’ knowledge and awareness regarding the causes, impacts, and prevention strategies of early marriage. The program was conducted on July 27, 2026, at the Computer Laboratory of SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Besar and involved 43 eighth-grade students. The methods included interactive lectures, slide presentations, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The results showed that participants were enthusiastic, actively asked questions, and demonstrated a better understanding of the risks of early marriage related to health, education, economic conditions, and social life. In addition, students showed increased awareness of prioritizing education and planning their future more carefully before marriage. School-based education can serve as an effective preventive strategy to support efforts to reduce early marriage rates in Central Bangka Regency.
