Abstract

Abstract Pineapple peel waste is generally not utilized optimally, posing a potential risk of environmental pollution, even though it contains beneficial nutrients and bioactive compounds. This community service activity aimed to increase public knowledge about the use of pineapple peel waste as a raw material for the probiotic beverage tepache and to encourage its utilization as a value-added product. The method used was face-to-face outreach to approximately 35 women from the PKK (Family Welfare Movement) through presentations, discussions, and QA sessions on pineapple peel waste management, the benefits of probiotics, and the tepache production process. The results of the activity showed that participants enthusiastically attended the training, actively participated in discussions, and gained a better understanding of the benefits of tepache for health, the environment, and economic opportunities. This activity demonstrated that training is effective in raising public awareness about processing pineapple peel waste into products that are beneficial, economically valuable, and environmentally friendly.

Abstract

However, proper handwashing practices among children remain suboptimal, particularly in soap use, correct handwashing steps, and duration. This community service activity aimed to improve children’s skills in practicing HWS through interactive songs at RA Al-Muyassar Miftahul Jannah. The activity was conducted on July 14, 2026, involving children aged 4–6 years using an edutainment approach through singing, dancing, demonstrations, and direct practice. Evaluation was conducted through participatory observation of soap use, accuracy of the six handwashing steps, and handwashing duration. The results showed that 100% of children used soap, approximately 85–90% were able to remember and perform the six steps correctly, and the 25–30-second song helped maintain handwashing duration. An educational poster was also installed near the handwashing area as a visual reminder. Interactive song-based education can be an engaging method for developing regular handwashing practices among preschool children as an effort to prevent diarrheal disease.

Abstract

Social interaction is a fundamental human need, yet residents at the Harapan Mulia Kedoya Social Rehabilitation Center (PSPBK) often experience loneliness due to limited mobility and a loss of emotional attachment to their families. This study aims to address the issues of loneliness and social isolation among these residents through the implementation of group dynamics methods. The community service method employed a qualitative approach using systematic observation and in-depth interviews with two WBS from different backgrounds (a former sex worker and a neglected child). The intervention was conducted over one month through 18 sessions structured as educational games (fun games). The results of the community service program indicate that group dynamics are effective as a means of distraction to break negative thought patterns and build social support among WBS participants. Participants became more open, communicative, and experienced increased group cohesion. However, this method was more effective in reducing situational social loneliness than chronic emotional loneliness. The conclusion of this community service project is that group dynamics successfully improved the social functioning and collective well-being of WBS participants; however, they need to be combined with individual counseling to address deeper-rooted psychological issues.

Abstract

The ability to write scientific papers is a crucial academic competency for students, yet in practice, many students still experience difficulties in composing systematic scientific articles worthy of publication in accredited journals. This community service activity aims to improve students' academic literacy through seminars on scientific writing and journal publication. The methods used include counseling, technical writing training, and mentoring in preparing articles for submission to scientific journals. The activity was carried out in three stages: preparation, seminars and workshops, and evaluation and follow-up mentoring. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of scientific article structure, citation techniques, publication ethics, and strategies for selecting appropriate journals, as evidenced by a comparison of pre-test and post-test results. In addition, several participants successfully drafted scientific articles ready for submission to journals. This activity is expected to become a sustainable model for building a culture of scientific writing and publication among students.

Abstract

Farmers' reliance on synthetic chemical inputs in Tegal Sari Village poses a major constraint in peanut cultivation due to economic limitations. This community service program aims to enhance the self-reliance of the Inti Sari Farmers Group in producing biological agents through training on the propagation of Trichoderma sp. on cracked corn media, based on the principles of the Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture (LEISA) system. The implementation method comprised theoretical socialization, practical demonstration (workshop), as well as monitoring and evaluation. The results indicated a significant 55% increase in farmers' cognitive understanding, with the average score rising from 30% (pre-test) to 85% (post-test). Furthermore, the farmers successfully mastered aseptic inoculation techniques, as evidenced by the growth of high-quality Trichoderma spores on cracked corn media produced through their independent practice. In conclusion, this training was effective in equipping farmers with appropriate technology skills, enabling them to reduce production costs while promoting more environmentally friendly and sustainable peanut farming practices in Pante Ceureumen District.

Abstract

The community service activity conducted through the Student Community Service (KKN) program in Karang Satu Village comprised two main initiatives: mapping village potential and planting 100 seedlings. The potential mapping aimed to identify and visualize the village's various assets and facilities across sectors such as education, social affairs, religion, agriculture, livestock, the economy, the environment, infrastructure, and governance. This process identified 15 key assets, which were subsequently compiled into the Karang Satu Village Potential Map to serve as an information resource and a tool to support village development planning. Meanwhile, the seedling planting programi nvolving species such as *sengon*, citrus, mahogany, and balsa across three hamlets was implemented to promote greening efforts and raise community environmental awareness. Both programs are interconnected, supporting village development that balances the utilization of local potential with environmental conservation. Sustaining the outcomes of these activities requires periodic updates to the map data, as well as ongoing maintenance and growth monitoring of the planted trees. Thus, these programs serve as a foundational step toward the more targeted, participatory, and sustainable development of Karang Satu Village.

Abstract

The problem of household waste management in Ketitang Village, Godong District, Grobogan Regency, is triggered by low public awareness, limited infrastructure, and the habit of littering and open burning which results in environmental pollution and health risks. An Nuur University's KKN Group 9 uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, conducting socialization, cooperative training to build a rocket stove incinerator from local materials (hebel bricks and iron), trial runs, and continued mentoring.  This technology burns dry waste at temperatures above 600°C efficiently, with a reduction in smoke emissions of up to 60-80% and a minimum volume of waste to ash. The results include increased awareness of the 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), community participation in RW 01-02, and the ability to manage independently sustainably. This innovation is an environmentally friendly model that deserves to be replicated with routine maintenance and support from the village government to create a clean and healthy environment.

Abstract

The use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has the potential to help teachers develop literacy and numeracy teaching materials effectively; however, limited teacher understanding remains a challenge to its utilization. This community service activity aimed to improve teachers’ understanding of using GenAI to develop literacy and numeracy teaching materials in elementary schools. The activity was conducted at UPTD SD Negeri 8 Belinyu, involving nine teachers through socialization, training, practice, mentoring, and evaluation using a Participatory Action Learning (PAL) approach combined with Project-Based Mentoring. Pretest and posttest results showed an increase in teachers’ average understanding from 63% to 83%, representing a 20-percentage-point increase. These findings indicate that practice-based training and mentoring can strengthen teachers’ understanding of using GenAI pedagogically and responsibly to support the development of literacy and numeracy teaching materials.
