ABDIRA (Journal of Community Service): Journal of Community Service contains the results of community service and empowerment activities in the form of application of various fields of science including health, education, engineering, agriculture, agriculture, social humanities, computers, entrepreneurship and economics. This journal is published regularly twice a year in April and October. The purpose of this journal is to disseminate ideas and results of the dedication and research conducted by universities that can be applied in society. ABDIRA contains various activities carried out in handling and overcoming various problems that occur in society by applying science and technology which can then be useful for improving community welfare.

Abstract

Green open space has ecological, social and aesthetic functions. Green open space is very important in improving the quality of a healthy, aesthetic and sustainable environment, especially in urban areas which are experiencing rapid growth. Pagar Alam City has physically met the need for green open space, because most of the land use is protected forest. However, Pagar Alam City still has to maintain the existence of urban green open spaces. The sosialization and mapping activities aim to increase public awareness and understanding of the importance of green open spaces, both from an environmental, social and economic perspective, as well as identifying the existence of green open spaces in Pagar Alam City. Socialization is carried out through direct counseling, interactive discussions, and the distribution of educational media to the community in the Pagar Alam City area. Participatory methods are applied so that the community is involved in planning, utilizing and preserving green open space. The results of the activity show an increase in public knowledge about the benefits of green open space and community initiatives to support nature conservation have emerged. Mapping activities provide skills to the community in identifying green open spaces.

Abstract

This community service project aims to enhance non-cash financial literacy among female students (santriwati) at Al Falah Islamic Boarding School Puteri Banjarbaru through education on e-wallet usage. The program employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which focuses on empowering existing community assets. Activities were carried out through discovery, dream, design, delivery, and evaluation stages. The results showed improved understanding of non-cash transactions, readiness of the pesantren cooperative to manage top-up systems, and strong enthusiasm from the community for implementation. This project confirms the effectiveness of the ABCD approach in building an inclusive financial system within the pesantren environment.

Abstract

The creative economy is an economic concept that relies on creativity, innovation, and the utilization of ideas as the main factors in creating economic added value. The main objective of the creative economy is to optimize the potential of human resources in producing products and services that are unique and highly competitive. Many of the congregants are housewives who are still very productive in producing a work, which is able to support the creative economy, from here then the Community Service Team of Duta Bangsa University tries to provide training on making jenang dodol snacks made from dragon fruit skin. The aim of providing assistance to partners in order to be able to foster creative economies with the business of processing dragon fruit peel waste into healthy food, namely jenang dodol.

Abstract

This research discusses the influence of the School Literacy Program (PLS) on elementary school students' critical thinking abilities.  The results of the literature study show a positive relationship between literacy and critical thinking, where adequate literacy is the foundation for better critical thinking skills.  The success of PLS, however, is highly dependent on several key factors: relevant and interesting program design, the quality of reading materials, the active role of teachers as facilitators and role models, and access to adequate technology.  Barriers to access and relevance of reading materials are challenges that need to be overcome. A holistic and integrated approach to PLS implementation is crucial to achieving optimal results. Further research is needed to empirically test these relationships and identify more effective strategies.

Abstract

This tutoring program was organized to provide assistance in learning English for elementary school children, as an effort to improve their ability to communicate in English. This community service activity was carried out at SD IT Imam Syafi’i in Pekanbaru. The program involved 25 elementary school students from grades 4 to 6 at the school. The tutoring sessions were conducted over a period of two months. The methods used in the implementation of this program included socialization, training, and mentoring.The results of the activity showed that the children were very enthusiastic and interested in the program. Before participating in the program, the initial test results showed that only 1 out of 25 students passed, with an average score of 55. This indicated the need for additional guidance in English. After participating in the tutoring program, the final test results showed a significant improvement: all participants successfully passed. According to the data, 9 children scored between 60–69, while 13 children scored between 70–79, with the overall average score increasing to 70.Thus, this English tutoring program has proven to significantly improve the learning abilities of elementary school children.

Abstract

The formation of a cooperative cannot be separated from the cooperative's articles of association itself, the cooperative's articles of association are guidelines or rules of the game for all activities and operations of the Cooperative. The agreement that has been stated in the articles of association and of course adjusted to the Cooperative's SOP. The Berkah Sejahterah Bersama producer cooperative is a forum for developing the businesses of MSMEs, most of whom are producers who have businesses that produce food and beverages. The implementation method is by holding a meeting held at the place of one of the Cooperative members with direction given by the STIESIA Academics such as digital marketing, data analysis and Accounting, then to follow up on the event, comprehensive assistance is provided for all MSME actors involved, providing supervision based on Cooperative law. The results of community service activities for MSME members in the city of Surabaya have gone well. This activity is quite important for cooperative members on how to run according to the rules agreed upon together and is useful for improving the welfare of Cooperative members

Abstract

As educators, they contribute greatly to starting to develop children's abilities through play by choosing and implementing the right strategies and media as learning methods or models that are in accordance with the development of students. One of the learning methods that can be chosen by teachers to improve the ability to educate children through play. This community service is carried out through workshop activities with PAUD teachers and parents. The teachers and parents are very enthusiastic about the implementation of this PKM. They asked a lot about how early childhood education through play. They admitted that there was a lot of homework and improvements made for children's education through play.

Abstract

Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by higher than normal blood sugar levels in the body. This disease is common in the elderly. Given that diabetes is a dangerous disease, treatment is needed to overcome this problem. One of the preventive efforts that can be done is by conducting screening through blood sugar level checks, as well as providing health information about diabetes. This activity aims to determine the blood sugar levels of the elderly so that diabetes can be detected early and increase the elderly's understanding of diabetes mellitus. The method used is blood sugar examination and health education. It is known that the elderly with random blood sugar levels ≥ 200 mg / dl are 19 people (30%). Evaluation of health education is carried out through questions and answers, most participants can answer questions well related to diabetes. It is necessary to carry out blood sugar examination activities and diabetes health education periodically so that it is hoped that the elderly can be motivated to carry out positive health behaviors in efforts to prevent or treat diabetes.

Abstract

Learning religious practices is an important part of Islamic religious education that functions to shape students' religious character from an early age. However, its implementation in elementary schools still faces various obstacles, such as low student understanding, lack of teacher guidance, and less interesting learning methods. This community service program was implemented at SDN 2 Wates by nine students of Darussalam Gontor University from various study programs with the aim of improving students' understanding and skills in practicing religious practices. The activity method includes three stages, namely: (1) preparation through partner coordination, preparation of pre-tests, and teaching materials; (2) implementation with a participatory approach and direct practice adjusted to student competencies; and (3) evaluation through observation, questionnaires, and post-tests. The results of the program showed an increase in students' understanding of the procedures for worship and a growing awareness of the importance of worship in everyday life. This activity shows that an interactive and collaborative approach is effective in improving the quality of learning religious practices at the elementary level.

Abstract

Marriage readiness requires not only physical and economic preparedness but also spiritual aspects, which serve as an essential foundation for building a harmonious household. This community service activity aimed to strengthen maturity in preparing for marriage through spiritual health education integrated with biological maturity, specifically targeting individuals of premarital age. The methods used included interactive lectures, followed by group discussions and QA sessions, as well as evaluation through pretests and posttests. The participants of this program were 48 individuals aged 17 to 28 years. The Wilcoxon analysis showed a significant difference before and after the intervention, with the average knowledge score increasing from 83.96 to 94.17. These findings indicate that education based on spiritual values plays a crucial role in equipping the younger generation for marriage preparation. We should develop a sustainable youth development program that strengthens the spiritual aspect to help prevent future household conflicts.
