Abstract

This training activity was carried out with the aim of providing training for grade XI students of SMA Negeri SIAK HULU on reading poetry. This community service uses a descriptive method, meaning it is descriptive in nature by describing what it is. The results of the community service activities on poetry reading training have achieved their targets well with details of the activities in the form of providing material to students about poetry then continued with discussions and questions and answers about the discussion followed by poetry reading practice activities, the activity ended with poetry reading practice. The most important thing is that the students have been able to understand poetry reading techniques and are able to practice reading poetry. The benefits that can be seen in terms of readiness in the form of high self-confidence possessed by students so that they are able to appear in front of the audience by paying attention to important aspects in reading poetry. Based on the community service activities, it was concluded that the activities went smoothly with the results that students were able to read poetry well.

Abstract

Socialization of motorcycle gang crimes among teenagers that are increasingly rampant in the community where the perpetrators are minors who are members of motorcycle gang community groups. What is more interesting about the phenomenon of motorcycle gang groups is that the actions they take are brutal and disrupt public order, there are many violations that have an impact on the community. Therefore, it is necessary to convey to the community the legal aspects of motorcycle gang crimes and sanctions for motorcycle gang perpetrators, because motorcycle gangs are groups of young people (teenagers) who mostly have the same background, are still in school and are underage, who are members of a community of two-wheeled motor vehicle users. The method used in Community Service activities is a method of providing counseling, namely delivering material, which is then carried out in-depth discussions with participants from the mosque congregation and residents of Hamlet X, Medan Krio Village. The discussion began with the presentation of material on Motorcycle Gang Crimes among teenagers. Furthermore, residents of Hamlet X, Medan Krio Village asked questions, then continued an intense discussion with the speaker regarding the problem of motorcycle gang crimes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of reading interest in students at SDN Kalianget Barat II and the factors that can influence it. By using a qualitative descriptive method with data collection through interviews and observations at SDN Kalianget Barat II. The survey results show that most students at SDN Kalianget Barat II have a low level of reading interest. With the majority of students preferring to use gadgets to play games. So that this can be a challenge and a problem that must be faced by students and teachers in the learning process. There are many factors that influence this, namely lack of family support, lack of motivation and environmental factors. This study is expected to be a reference for schools and the government to increase students' reading interest in the digital era.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) continues to be a significant public health concern worldwide, including in Indonesia. The highest incidence of fatal cases due to dengue fever is observed among school-aged children. Consequently, the eradication of mosquito nests (PSN) is imperative to prevent dengue fever. The efficacy of the prevention program is attributable to its success in empowering the community, including educational institutions, through the establishment of jumantik cadres. The objective of this initiative is to enhance the knowledge and attitudes of jumantik cadres, specifically the "Sobat Lawan Jentik" group, in the prevention of DHF disease through mosquito nest eradication (PSN). The method employed entails the delivery of health education pertaining to dengue disease, with a particular emphasis on its prevention, and the implementation of the mosquito nest eradication program (PSN). The evaluation strategy encompassed a pre-test and post-test phase, complemented by a response questionnaire that addressed the activities undertaken. The results of this activity have succeeded in significantly increasing the knowledge of participants (p value = 0.001). This activity has been demonstrated to have a substantial impact on the attitude value of participants (p=0.001). This activity has been shown to positively influence participants' knowledge and attitudes. According to the findings of the questionnaire, the majority of the participants regarded this activity as highly beneficial.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of reproductive health issues associated with risky sexual behaviors and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) identities among adolescents continues to rise each year. This trend is compounded by the persistently low level of accurate understanding among adolescents regarding these topics. The objective of this community service activity was to provide educational outreach on reproductive health issues for SMAN 6 Manado City students. The activity was carried out by the Community Service (CoS) team, focusing on reproductive health education for students at SMAN 6 Manado City. The implementation of this activity utilized a combination of counseling and mentoring approaches tailored to high school students. The event was conducted on September 20, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM (WIB) until completion, and took place at SMAN 6 Manado City. The educational delivery was conducted through presentations, incorporating both video materials and PowerPoint slides to facilitate understanding. The findings demonstrated a 45-point increase in knowledge scores following the educational intervention. A paired sample t-test indicated a statistically significant difference in students' knowledge before and after the counseling session. The educational intervention had a significant and positive impact on students' understanding of reproductive health.

Abstract

7 components of the Radiation Safety Management System (Radiation SMK3) that must be applied in the use of radioactive substances or other radiation sources. Implementation at the Bhayangkara Hospital Radiology Installation in Seamarang contained components that were not optimal, including storage and education and training. The aim of this activity is to increase the knowledge of radiation officers about the 7 components of radiation SMK3. The methods used are lectures and discussions. The results of community service activities for radiation workers are increased knowledge and understanding of the counseling material provided. This can be seen from the discussion and question and answer sessions given to the audience who were able to respond and answer the questions given well according to the material provided by the service team.

Abstract

The main issue faced by Kelompok Tani Pelangi (Pelangi Farmer Group) in lowland rice cultivation is the frequent attack of pests and diseases, such as brown planthopper, rice stem borer, and rice bug. To control these pests, most farmers still rely heavily on synthetic pesticides without considering their impacts on beneficial organisms and the environment. This Community Partnership Programme aims to enhance farmers' capacity in environmentally friendly pest management through educational outreach and field-based practices. The methods employed in this programme include educational sessions, hands-on field demonstrations, interactive discussions, and questionnaire-based evaluations. The material delivered covered the identification of pests and diseases in rice, the introduction and implementation of eco-friendly pest control strategies, correct use of synthetic pesticides, and the role and function of refugia plants in conserving natural enemies. Evaluation results indicated a positive impact on the knowledge of farmer group members: 98% were able to identify pest types and their symptoms, 67% recognised predators in the field, 50% understood the principles of appropriate pesticide use, 60% comprehended the negative impacts of pesticides, and 44% recognised the benefits of refugia plants in the rice agroecosystem. The active participation of farmers during discussions and practical sessions reflects a behavioural shift towards sustainable farming practices. This Community Partnership Programme (PKM) has proven effective in improving ecological awareness and technical skills among members of Kelompok Tani Pelangi and is recommended as a model for empowering farmers in surrounding areas through the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach.

Abstract

In the context of entrepreneurship, especially for micro, small and medium enterprises, the implementation of financial transparency is one of the main pillars in the management of accountable and trustworthy UMKM finances. Cash expenditure audits play an important role in increasing this transparency by ensuring that every cash expenditure transaction is recorded accurately, supported by valid documents, and in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations. Through the audit process, auditors evaluate the recording, authorization, and reporting of cash expenditures, and test the effectiveness of internal controls implemented by the organization or company. Cash expenditure audits also help detect and prevent fraud, embezzlement, or misuse of funds, so that all financial activities can be monitored and accounted for openly to interested parties. The implementation of routine and systematic cash expenditure audits has been proven to increase the trust of stakeholders such as micro, small and medium enterprise owners or investors, strengthen accountability, and encourage the creation of better and more transparent financial governance.Referring to the identified business, participants are guided to carry out accounting records, starting from the initial stage of the business, namely the first investment, procurement of production materials, outcomes, income, and other related transactions.

Abstract

MSMEs play a significant role in Indonesia's economy development, however, many small business owners still struggle with managing their finances, especially in calculating the Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGM) correctly. This community service activity aimed to help the owner of Burger Salsabila, an MSME located in Tarakan City, in calculating COGM. The method used is participatory, involving the business owner in every stage of the activity, from preparation to evaluation. The outcome of the program indicated that previously, the business owner set the selling price of products solely based on market prices without thoroughly calculating the costs incurred during the production process. After receiving training and mentoring, the business owner was able to calculate COGM more comprehensively and accurately. Accurate COGM calculations have provided a better understanding of production cost structures and helped in setting appropriate selling prices to achieve the expected profit.

Abstract

The purpose of the community empowerment activity with the theme "Strategi Pengajaran Sakubun Tingkat Dasar" is to provide knowledge and understanding to Japanese language teachers, especially at the senior high school level or its equivalent, on how to use digital media to teach sakubun. This activity was conducted through a two-day webinar (on October 23, 2023, and February 24, 2024) using the zoom meeting platform. Participants in this Community Empowerment webinar gained insights into effective ways digital media can be used to support classroom teaching, particularly in writing Japanese compositions, or sakubun. The goal of this webinar was not only to provide knowledge to Japanese language teachers but also to address common challenges in teaching sakubun, which is a demanding learning activity that requires considerable time and effort to give students meaningful feedback. By participating in this webinar, it is hoped that these challenges can be reduced, ultimately benefiting learners of the Japanese language.
