Abstract

This qualitative descriptive study employing socio-pragmatic analysis aimed to analyze teachers' utterances using Spencer-Oatey's Rapport Management Framework, essential for improving teacher-student relationships and enhancing classroom dynamics. A 6-hour classroom observation and interview with 10 teachers were conducted to collect the data. The framework includes face and social rights. In terms of face, it involved the quality face, which comprised well-being concern, dialogue encouragement, openness to diverse perspectives, respect for diverse opinions, feedback and encouragement, fairness and humility; social identity face, which comprised of behavioral guidance, authority establishment, group engagement, effort encouragement, participation seeking, attention direction, guidance of understanding, correctness assurance, and support reinforcement; and relational face, which comprised of managing classroom dynamics, gentle correction, commitment to personalized support, promotion of mutual support, validation and clarification strategy. On the other hand, sociality rights involved association and equity rights: the latter consisted of the principles of involvement, empathy, and respect, while the former consisted of cost-benefit consideration, fairness and reciprocity, and autonomy-control. The results imply that both face and sociality rights can be sources of offense. Face is important for maintaining students' personal/relational/social value, while sociality rights help ensure fairness, consideration and behavioral appropriateness. These elements are important for teachers when interacting with students because they promote respectful communication and strengthen teacher-student relationships. The inclusion of these concepts in the curriculum helps create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Abstract

The teaching methods of Prophet Muhammad SAW, as reflected in tarbawi hadiths, offer universal Islamic educational values that remain relevant across various contexts, including modern learning. This study aims to examine the implementation of the Prophet's teaching methods, highlighting Islamic educational values and their relevance to contemporary education. A qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytic method was employed. Primary data consisted of hadiths from standard collections such as Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, while secondary data included tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis) and sharh (commentary on hadith). Data collection was conducted through literature study, and thematic content analysis was utilised for analysis. The findings identified four main teaching methods of the Prophet: questioning, role modelling, storytelling, and hands-on practice. The questioning method fosters critical and analytical thinking, while role modelling is pertinent to character education. Storytelling facilitates understanding of concepts through narrative techniques, and hands-on practice aligns with experiential learning approaches. The study concludes that the Prophet’s teaching methods are highly relevant to modern learning, including problem-based learning, role modelling, and project-based learning. The study recommends integrating the Prophet’s methods into Islamic education curricula and developing educational technology grounded in Islamic values to support digital learning. Practical implications include educator training and technological innovation to enhance the quality of education in Islamic institutions. Future research is recommended to empirically test the application of these methods to measure their impact on learning quality and character development.

Abstract

This study examines the narrative and cultural representation of mental health and marginalization in the 2019 film Joker through a qualitative approach. Framed as a form of visual literature, Joker offers a profound lens to explore the stigmatization of mental illness and the societal alienation faced by marginalized individuals. Utilizing narrative analysis and cultural studies, our study investigates key elements such as characterization, symbolism, and thematic structures to uncover how the film critiques societal attitudes and systemic failures related to mental health. The findings reveal that Joker humanizes its protagonist, Arthur Fleck, while exposing the broader societal and institutional mechanisms that perpetuate stigma and inequality. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on mental health and cultural studies by emphasizing the role of visual media in challenging dominant narratives and fostering critical discourse. The implications extend to fields such as literature, cultural representation, and education, advocating for the use of media as a tool for promoting mental health awareness and social inclusion.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and determine the basis of the competitiveness of the economic sector of Pandeglang Regency in 2018-2023 using the Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), Shift Share, and Klassen Typology approaches. There are differences with previous studies, namely the area and time of the study. The results of the study using the LQ and DLQ methods show that there are five basic and prospective sectors, namely the Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries sectors; Mining and quarrying; Transportation and warehousing; Provision of accommodation and food and beverages; and Educational services. The processing industry sector shows great potential even though it has not become a basic sector. Based on the Klassen Typology analysis of Pandeglang Regency, five sectors are included in Quadrant I. The results of the Klassen typology analysis of Regencies/Cities in Banten Province show that Pandeglang Regency is relatively lagging in Quadrant IV. The results of the study using the shift share method show that the Mining and Quarrying sector is on average included in the non-progressive category, while the consistently progressive sectors are four sectors in a row. Based on the four analyses, the development of basic, progressive sectors, and the revitalization of lagging sectors have the potential to be key strategies in increasing regional economic competitiveness sustainably.
