Abstract

This research is entitled “Mass Shooting in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as Seen in “Parkland: Inside Building 12” Documentary Film.” Mass shooting in America, especially in schools is widespread. The issue of gun law and gun ownership in America has become a matter of great concern. Individuals who have reached the age of 18 can easily purchase firearms from a retail without any prerequisites. The research was conducted to describe the motive of the perpetrator doing the shooting and the impact of the shooting on the victims of the Parkland shooting. The research method applied in this research was descriptive qualitative taking the main data the documentary film, videos on YouTube, and interviews from the internet. The behaviourism theory by John Broadus Watson and the Labelling Theory by Howard Saul Becker were applied, as well as the Trauma Concept by Judith Lewis Herman. The finding showed that the perpetrator, Nikolas Cruz has struggled to socialise with her friends from early life, got humiliated and felt rejected by his surroundings. These symptoms led him to trauma and strange behavior. These symptoms caused him to carry out the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. On the other hand, the victims of the Parkland Shooting suffered trauma as can be seen from their reactions and what they told the director of the documentary film. The parents’ victims were also traumatized.

Abstract

This research aims to provide simple tools for MSMEs to understand the market conditions they are facing. Moreover, this research also intended to provide information for MSMEs on where customers can buy their products and their ability to access the digital marketing platform they will use. The expected users of these tools are MSMEs. Hence, the important aspect of constructing the tools highlighted in this research is simple, general, and inexpensive. Three key questions try to answer in this research are (1) where the customers are; (2) whether there are potential customers for MSMEs; and (3) do they have the ability to access the digital marketing platform that the MSMEs will try to use in this pandemic. This research proposes two types of indicators for targeted digital marketing. The first indicator is the regional indicator, which shows the capacity of the regions to spend or consume. The second indicator is a household indicator that shows the purchasing ability to consume and the ability of a household to access a digital platform. The data is estimated at the provincial level using annual data obtained from Statistics Indonesia. The results show that the provinces in Java currently have the highest potential for accessing digital platforms. However, analyzing the data using the growth variables shows a big potential for provinces in Kalimantan and Sulawesi as the next destination for expanding the digital platform.

Abstract

The poem “Alang-Alang” by Abdul Wachid B.S. explores the struggle of the lyrical “I”, representing the Indonesian people, to break free from the shackles of the New Order political regime. By focusing on the voice of the lyrical “I”, this study aims to dismantle the prophetic structure of the poem by analyzing the aspects of humanization, liberation, and transcendence within it. Kuntowijoyo’s concept of prophetic literature serves as the primary analytical framework, employing a qualitative-descriptive method. The findings of this study are as follows: first, the aspect of humanization is depicted through the lyrical “I”s efforts to challenge the consciousness of power, aiming to restore the people’s conscience to its rightful place; second, the aspect of liberation is demonstrated through attempts to free the people from the constraints imposed by the New Order, including physical violence and ideological control; and third, the aspect of transcendence is reflected in the lyrical “I” awareness of God’s power (Sang Hyang or Allah Swt.), which surpasses human capabilities. This context establishes the lyrical “I” in the poem “Alang-Alang” as meeting the criteria of a prophetic subject in literary texts.

Abstract

The ability to endure and thrive is contingent upon the previous generation's preparedness in formulating a comprehensive strategy for the succession process. This study aims to identify the factors that influence business sustainability and to pinpoint effective strategies that successors can employ to enhance performance and competitive strength. The research utilizes a qualitative methodology, focusing on "Toko Berkah Saluyu," located in Kuningan Regency, West Java, with participation from the owner's child. Data was gathered through in-depth interviews with the potential successor. The analysis employed an interactive model approach. The findings indicate that the candidate successor is prepared to carry on the family business, which is characterized as a family-owned and managed enterprise designed to operate and expand across generations. However, it is uncommon for family businesses to have successors who are adequately prepared, possessing both a solid educational background and a strong motivation to continue the family legacy. Furthermore, the research suggests that "Toko Berkah Saluyu" should enhance its succession planning by recognizing the significance of motivation in the succession process, thereby allowing the next generation to cultivate innovative ideas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in shaping the inclusive character of students in secondary school environments. An inclusive character is considered important in fostering attitudes of mutual respect, tolerance, and the ability to coexist in the midst of diversity. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with PAI teachers, observations of the learning process, and analysis of related documents, such as syllabi and lesson plans. The results show that PAI teachers play a strategic role in shaping the inclusive character of students through three main aspects: (1) the use of discussion-based learning methods that encourage students to understand others' perspectives; (2) the role model demonstrated by teachers in exhibiting inclusive attitudes both inside and outside the classroom; (3) the integration of values of tolerance and respect for differences in the teaching materials and learning activities; (4) the use of a holistic approach, teaching religious, social, and moral values simultaneously, successfully instilling a deeper understanding of the concept of inclusivity. In addition, the study found that the success of shaping students' inclusive character highly depends on the competence of the teacher, the support of the school environment, and the relevance of the learning approach to students' social context. By optimizing the role of PAI teachers, students can better understand the importance of peaceful coexistence in the midst of diversity. The study concludes that PAI teachers are key agents in building students' inclusive character, and continuous training and development of teacher competencies are needed to support this role.

Abstract

Stunting is an issue that requires serious attention from the Central Government to the Regional Governments, particularly the Regional Government of Mandailing Natal Regency. This is because Mandailing Natal Regency is one of the regions in North Sumatra with a high stunting rate, reaching 47.7% in 2021, placing Mandailing Natal at the top rank in North Sumatra for stunting cases, according to the Indonesian Nutrition Status Study (SSGI). In 2022, Mandailing Natal dropped to third place with a stunting rate of 34.2%. However, this figure is still far from the national target set for Mandailing Natal, which is 14% by 2024. This study aims to analyze the policies of the Mandailing Natal Regional Government to reduce the stunting rate to 14% by 2024 and examine the various challenges faced. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive analysis. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants for this study included officials from the Mandailing Natal Health Office, Family Planning Office, village heads, and village assistants. The study found that the Mandailing Natal Government has implemented cross-sectoral policies, specific interventions, and the "Foster Father" program to reduce stunting. Success depends on policy continuity, program optimization, and increasing public awareness. The main challenges are limited funding, poor sanitation, and cultural barriers.

Abstract

In the current era, technological advancements significantly influence consumer attitudes and behaviors regarding the selection, consumption, and utilization of products perceived to possess high quality and standards. The purchasing decision is an integral aspect of consumer behavior, encompassing the study of how individuals, groups, and organizations choose, buy, and use goods, services, ideas, or experiences to fulfill their needs and desires. This research aims to examine the impact of product diversification (X) on purchasing decisions (Y) within the Meatrix business located in Pandeglang, Banten. The findings and discussions of this study lead to a general conclusion regarding the concept of product diversification, which is categorized as good based on consumer ratings. This indicates that the highest indicator within the product diversification variable is consumer needs and expectations, while the lowest indicator pertains to ready-to-consume products. Furthermore, the purchasing decision variable is also categorized as good, with the highest indicator being product selection and the lowest indicator related to the choice of distribution channels.

Abstract

This study examines the use of Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Tawang District, Tasikmalaya, focusing on its impact on transaction efficiency and service quality. QRIS, a digital payment system introduced by Bank Indonesia, enables cashless, contactless payments through smartphones, thus offering a solution to slow cash transactions and improving operational efficiency. The research aims to explore how QRIS adoption enhances MSME competitiveness by increasing market reach, reducing operational costs, and improving customer service, particularly in post-pandemic Indonesia. Data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation from MSME owners in the district reveal that businesses such as Rumah Papi Bakery, Warteg Kahrisma Bahari, Bosqu Barber, and Azka Laundry have benefited from QRIS in terms of transaction speed, customer satisfaction, and financial management. The study also addresses the challenges of QRIS adoption, such as the need for a stable internet connection and public understanding of the system.
