Abstract

The industrial site visit to PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (INALUM) was conducted to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in metallurgical engineering education. This study employed a descriptive-analytical approach to evaluate the effectiveness of the visit in enhancing students’ understanding of aluminum production processes, engagement levels, and career readiness. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Results showed significant improvements in students’ comprehension of metallurgical processes, particularly the Hall-Héroult process, casting operations, and quality assurance practices. Engagement ratings across activities were consistently high, and career interest in the aluminum industry increased from 56% before the visit to 82% after. The findings highlight the value of experiential learning in aligning academic curricula with industry demands. Future studies could explore larger sample sizes, longitudinal impacts, and the inclusion of hands-on activities to further enhance learning outcomes and career aspirations. This research underscores the importance of industrial partnerships in preparing skilled and sustainability-conscious metallurgical engineers.

Abstract

Borobudur chatra as an integral part of the architecture and symbolism of Borobudur Temple has a deep philosophical meaning in the culture and beliefs of the Indonesian people. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the Borobudur chatra model and the formation and strengthening of national belief values through a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. The research process was carried out by identifying, evaluating, and synthesizing relevant literature from various academic sources. This study reveals that chatra represents protection, sanctity, and the relationship between humans and the universe. This symbolic meaning plays an important role in shaping spiritual values, cultural pride, and the identity of the nation's children. The results of the study indicate that Borobudur chatra is not only a spiritual symbol, but also a tool to educate the younger generation about the importance of local cultural values in modern life. This study suggests the need for integration of Borobudur symbolism in the education curriculum to strengthen the sense of trust and cultural pride in the nation's children.

Abstract

Student learning achievement is one of the main indicators of success in the world of education. This achievement is not only influenced by internal factors of students, such as intellectual ability and motivation, but also by various external factors, including the quality of teaching provided by teachers and locus of control. This research is necessary to determine the degree to which teacher performance and locus of control are able to create an effective and supportive learning environment that ultimately has an impact on improving student learning achievement. Thirty teachers at Sultan Agung Private Junior High School Pematangsiantar participated in a survey as part of this study's quantitative methodology. Data is gathered by means of questionnaire distribution, recordkeeping, and interviews. SPSS is used to process the data. Quantitative descriptive analysis, which includes correlation and determination coefficients, F-test, t-test, multiple linear regression analysis, and basic linear regression analysis, is used to analyze the data. The study's findings demonstrated a strong positive correlation between locus of control and teacher effectiveness in raising student learning accomplishment. Enhancing student learning achievement is significantly impacted by both strong internal locus of control and effective teacher performance. This research provides important implications for education policies to improve the quality of teaching by paying attention to these two factors.

Abstract

The use of English in digital advertising in Indonesia is increasingly widespread as a result of globalization and modern marketing strategies, but this phenomenon raises questions about its influence on Indonesian syntactic structure and communication effectiveness. This study aims to analyze how English affects the syntactic structure and discourse in digital advertisements and its impact on marketing communication strategies. Using syntax and discourse analysis methods, this study analyzed 50 digital ads from various platforms, which were purposively selected based on industry categories. The results show that English influences word order, phrase usage and sentence structure in digital ads, creating hybrid patterns that are more concise and persuasive. In terms of discourse, English is used to reflect modernity and global appeal, although it sometimes creates a comprehension gap for certain local audiences. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of balance in the use of language blends to remain linguistically and strategically effective, as well as culturally relevant. This study contributes to the development of applied linguistics literature and provides insights for marketing practitioners in designing optimal communications.

Abstract

This study reports on the result of a needs analysis for English proficiency. in the Instrumentation program at State Vocational Institute A. It is done to improve syllabus alignment with professional demands. The primary objective of this paper to identify gaps in the existing syllabus by analyzing responses from 27 fifth-semester students who had completed English courses in their third semester and 50 alumni working at the field. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the case study collected data through a structured questionnaire that focused on identifying and addressing practical challenges in professional English usage. Results from students' responses revealed that while foundational English skills, such as understanding instructions and interacting in class, were rated positively, students experienced difficulties in technical writing, oral presentations, and expressing opinions related to their field. These challenges indicate that the existing syllabus may not fully equip students with the language skills required to perform complex tasks in professional contexts. Alumni responses further supported these findings, highlighting inadequacies in practical communication skills, especially in technical reporting and workplace interactions. The study identified emerging gaps between the English proficiency of both students and alumni and the demands of academic and professional environments. These findings suggest the need for curriculum revisions to address the specific linguistic challenges faced by students and graduates so as to ensure that future revisions align closely with workplace expectations.
