Abstract

Nonverbal communication is communication that is done only by using gestures, facial expressions and eye contact. The function of nonverbal communication for early childhood is to stimulate children's motor and sensory abilities, it can also increase children's imagination. There are several cartoons that use nonverbal communication, one of which is the Shaun The Sheep cartoon. In the Shaun The Sheep program, the researcher chose an episode of We Wish A Merry Christmas which tells a story where livestock owners feel sad because they don't have Christmas accessories, Bitzer and Shaun know that they and other sheep are working together to make Christmas accessories for livestock owners. This cartoon uses nonverbal communication in which it can increase the audience's imagination as well as teach children mutual cooperation, mutual assistance and tolerance. Researchers also use nonverbal theory to involve creating and interpreting messages using only body movements and facial expressions

Abstract

This research is a research and development (R&D) HOTS-based accounting E-LKPD teaching material. This re search uses the ADDIE research model which has five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed that the development of the accounting E-LKPD was declared efficient according to the results of media, material and language experts with an average of 84.29%. In terms of practicality, the one-to-one test averaged 89.91%, the criteria were very valid, and in the Small Group test, with an average result of 93.06%, the criteria were very valid. the average result is 73.33% good criteria and the post-test with an average result of 86.13% is very good criteria. So that there was an increase of 12.8% in the learning outcomes of class X AKL 2 SMK Negeri 5 Palembang. Effective when conducting research by obtaining an average observation of 88.84% very active criterion.

Abstract

Learning listening in academic context course aims to hone students' listening skills in recognizing main ideas and important information contained in academic texts. For this reason, students must be observant in listening while digging for the details. It needs the skill to help to recall and gain the knowledge: note-taking, a technique of to record a key information. Therefore, this study aims to describe the English as a Foreign Language (EFL)  students’ perception of applying two of note taking technique: linear note and mind mapping styles while doing listening tasks. A questionnaire were administered to probe the perceptions about the listening learning situation and attitude to the use of note taking on listening in academic context subject. Based on the data analyzed, note taking is very helpful and useful  for the students to record the information.

Abstract

The purpose of the teacher is to program the formation of character in Buddhist Sunday schools because the teacher is not yet perfect in forming non-formal character education. The finding of the teacher teaching in the implementation of meditation is because the teacher has difficulty assessing the character of the meditation students. Therefore the teacher is limited to playing an active role in programming student meditation that is relevant to modern life. This study used a qualitative approach focused on sitting, standing, walking and waking meditation. This research involved contributions from meditation teacher monks in Jepara. Data were collected by observation, interview, and documentation study techniques. The solution proposed in this study found that the role of implementing meditation on the formation of student character was in the factor of teacher readiness to teach at Buddhist Sunday schools. Obstacles in implementing meditation that occur become the most important problem in character building. The results of the discussion of this study show that the findings are on the formation of vipassana character and the formation of samatha character. The conclusion of the research on the inhalation and exhalation of breath as a character object for students to meditate.

Abstract

The implementation of character education in elementary schools needs to be carried out on all sides on an ongoing basis. To develop character education in mathematics learning, it can be done by developing the content of mathematics lessons, selecting approaches, methods, or learning strategies to be used, as well as the mathematics learning process. This research is a qualitative research that uses a normative descriptive approach. Data collected by conducting interviews, observation and documentation. The results show that the implementation of education in mathematics can be realized based on the targets to be achieved by the researchers. Character education that is built through this learning is the values ??taught based on subjects such as discipline, independence, cooperation, and responsibility. In addition, learning activities that activate students through projects or problem solving will provide space for students to develop character values ??in learning mathematics. Integration is done by combining the character values ??in the lesson plans and students' consistency in applying these values ??outside of school. In measuring results, the teacher gives an assessment book to students.

Abstract

Web-GIS was a mapping technology that could be used to support the learning process. Although in practice, the use of Web-GIS in learning is still low. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze (1) types of Web-GIS platforms in geography learning, (2) geography topics in Web-GIS-based learning, (3) methods of using Web-GIS in learning, and (4) the impact of Web-GIS on students' spatial thinking ability. The method used was a literature study with content analysis. There were 12 selected articles analyzed from Google Scholar. As a result, (1) the types of Web-GIS platforms that could be used in learning were Arc-GIS online, National Geography MapMaker, Digital Atlas, and Web-GIS INARISK. (2) Geography topics that could be used in Web-GIS-based learning were physical geography, human geography, regional geography, cartography, environment, and disaster. (3) Methods that could be used to use Web-GIS in learning were map investigation, project based learning, blended learning, inquiry, and demonstation. (4) The impact of using Web-GIS was very effective to improve students' spatial thinking ability. From research. Hopefully, in the future there will be more development research on Web-GIS-based media and teaching materials that could be used in geography learning.

Abstract

Membaca merupakan aktifitas pasif dalam belajar bahasa. Membaca merupakan salah satu dari 4 (empat) keterampilan yang harus dikuasai oleh pelajar bahasankarena membaca memberikan informasi baru dan pengetahaun baru kepada para pembaca.  Keterampilan membaca bukan hanya sekedar membaca untaian kata dan kalimat dengan suara yang keras, namun lebih dari itu bahwa aktifitas membaca meruapakan aktifitas untuk membahami bahan bacaan yang dibaca. Pembahaman membaca perlu dilatih dan dikuasai sehingga para pelajar sebagai pembaca akan memahami teks yang sedang dibaca. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan jumlah sampel penelitian sebanyak 31 (tiga puluh satu) orang dari siswa kelas IX-F SMP Negeri 28 Medan Tahun Ajaran 2022/2023. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk melihat peningkatan kemampuan siswa-siswi dalam membahami bahan bacaan khususnya teks berbahasa Inggris. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa implementasi strategi pembelajaran SQ4R dapat meningkatkan pemahaman bacaan bahasa Inggris siswa-siswi kelas IX-F SMP Negeri 28 Medan Tahun Ajaran 2022/2023 setelah dilakukan tindakan dalam 2 (dua) siklus sebagaimana keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran juga meningkat.

Abstract

The background of this research is the low student learning outcomes and the need for more activeness and motivation of students in learning chemistry. The development of guided discovery-based Flash media is crucial for supporting student learning outcomes and enhancing their understanding of chemical concepts. This study aims to determine students' and teachers' feasibility, effectiveness, and responses to the developed Flash media. Purposive sampling was used to select two classes for this research. These classes were chosen because the members were selected from the population based on the teacher's recommendation after evaluating the material covered in the sample class. The Guided Discovery model with Adobe Flash media made Class XI MIA 1 an experimental class. In contrast, the Direct Instruction learning approach made Class XI MIA 2 a control class. The results of research conducted at SMA Negeri 9 Medan can be concluded that there is an influence on student learning outcomes and activities when using Guided Discovery Based Adobe Flash media on class XI Buffer Solution material. These student activities contribute to aligned learning outcomes of 18.1 %. At the same time, 81.9% was caused by a lack of student interest in participating in teaching and learning activities, time allocation for implementation, and teacher willingness. The application of Guided Discovery learning media with Adobe Flash media can improve student learning outcomes in the experimental class compared to students taught with the Direct Instruction model

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan multiple intelligences dengan hasil belajar siswa kelas VII MTsN 3 Banda Aceh pada materi suhu dan perubahannya tahun akademik 2021/2022. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dan data diperoleh dari MTsN 3 Banda Aceh dengan menggunakan teknik survei. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII MTsN 3 Banda Aceh tahun akademik 2021/2022 yang berjumlah 110 siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan menggunakan teknik Simple Random Sampling (SRS) sehingga diperoleh sampel sebanyak 44 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuesioner multiple intelligences dan instrumen hasil belajar materi suhu dan perubahannya. Hubungan multiple intelligences dan sikap ilmiah siswa diperoleh dengan menggunakan analisis korelasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hubungan multiple intelligences dengan hasil belajar siswa digambarkan dengan nilai R sebesar 0,486 pada taraf signifikansi 0,01. Aspek multiple intelligences yang cukup korelasinya dengan hasil belajar siswa adalah kecerdasan verbal linguistik dengan nilai r sebesar 0,185; kecerdasan eksistensial dengan nilai r sebesar 0,167; kecerdasan interpersonal dengan nilai r sebesar 0,118; kecerdasan naturalis dengan nilai r sebesar 0,104; kecerdasan intrapersonal dengan nilai r sebesar 0,099 pada taraf signifikansi 0,01. Aspek multiple intelligences yang kurang korelasinya dengan hasil belajar siswa adalah kecerdasan visual spasial dengan nilai r sebesar -0,066; kecerdasan musikal dengan nilai r sebesar -0,077; kecerdasan kinestetik dengan nilai r sebesar -0,084; kecerdasan logika matematika dengan nilai r sebesar -0,168 pada taraf signifikansi 0,01.

Abstract

This study is a single case study that tries to examine the experiences of an English Foreign Language (EFL) teacher in employing Canva, a graphic design platform, as an instructional tool for vocabulary teaching and to investigate the experiences, benefits, challenges, and familiarity of integrating Canva into educational settings. The process of data collection encompassed qualitative methodology, specifically interviews and document analysis, which is the output of using Canva and is conducted by the participant, who is a teacher who has been actively involved in the use of Canva since 2015 and with a unique background of education, which is the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Notwithstanding, she enrolled in the Faculty of Teaching and Education, specifically in English Education. This study uses constructivism as the theoretical framework to explore her background, experiences, and familiarity in a Narrative Single Case study. The findings revealed that EFL vocabulary teaching strategies and the potential of Canva to enhance education. Canva provides a personalized visual constructivism platform, promoting vocabulary comprehension and retention. Canva also facilitates assessment strategies, which encourages student participation. Canva holds promise for the future of EFL vocabulary instruction and study. Further research is recommended to determine the long-term effects on learners' vocabulary acquisition and to explore potential strategies for overcoming the identified challenges. (9 pt).
