Abstract

Kitosan adalah derivat deasetil dari biopolisakarida kitin yang  merupakan bioplimer kedua yang melimpah di alam setelah selulosa, dan dapat ditemukan pada eksoskeleton krustasea dan serangga. Kitosan bersifat biokompabilitas, biodegradabilitas, dan tidak beracun, dan memiliki  aktivitas antimikroba yang banyak diaplikasikan  diberbagai bidang seperti industri makanan, industri tekstil, kosmetik, kedokteran dan kedokteran gigi.  Pseudomonas aeruginosa  merupakan bakteri gram negatif penyebab utama infeksi nosokomial dan sering ditemukan di saluran air pada dental unit.    P. aeruginosa  bersifat patogen dan resisten terhadap beberapa bahan antibakteri  yang ada. Staphylococcus aureus merupakan  bakteri gram positif, yang dapat menyebabkan infeksi fasial, periapikal atau periodontal abses dan  denture sore mouth. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kemampuan kitosan dengan  derajat deasetilasi (DD) dan konsentrasi berbeda dalam menghambat  pertumbuhan     P. aeruginosa   dan  S.  aureus  dalam rongga mulut. Pada penelitian ini digunakan metode difusi cakram, kitosan dengan derajat deasetilasi  89% dan 93%  dimasukkan ke dalam   paper disk   dengan   konsentrasi 0,25%, 0,5%, 0,75%, 1%, 1,25% selama 24 jam dalam suhu 37oC . Zona hambat  yang terbentuk diukur dengan jangka sorong. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan kitosan dengan derajat deasetilasi  dan konsentrasi  berbeda memberikan zona hambat yang berbeda baik pada  P. aeruginosa  dan  S. aureus. Zona hambat  P. aeruginosa   dan  S. aureus   terbesar terbentuk pada konsetrasi 1%, sedangkan kitosan dengan DD 93% memperlihatkan zona hambat lebih besar dibandingkan dengan kitosan DD 89%.   Kata Kunci : Kitosan, Derajat Deasetilasi, Psedomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

Education is a means of creating a generation that is capable of coping with 21st- century challenges. The generation of the 21st century must master various skills that support high-order thinking. One of those skills is collaboration skill. This study aims to analyze the assessment profile of collaboration skills performed by Junior High School science teachers and Senior High School biology teachers in Solo Raya. This research employed a survey method involving 125 samples, comprising 49 Junior High School science teachers and 76 Senior High School biology teachers in Solo Raya. Collecting data use an instrument which was a development of the collaboration skill aspect based on NEA and P21. The data analyzed using the Rasch model. It was found that the items of the questionnaire in each construct had varied discriminatory powers showing that the instrument had a measuring ability. The overall analysis result of the respondents’ opinions was above the mean logit score (+0.00 logit) which proved that the teachers had implemented the assessment of collaboration skills. The results of the univariate analysis based on the respondents’ characteristics concluded that Junior High School science teachers (39.2%) had assessed the students' collaboration skills

Abstract

Metacognitive skills is seen as one of the factors that influence the cognitive learning. Relations metacognitive skills and cognitive learning outcomes can be achieved through the use of specific instructional strategies. Thus the relationship has been much studied. However, the study of the relationship of metacognitive skills and cognitive learning outcomes in learning biology curriculum implemented in 2013 is still lacking. This study is a correlational study revealing the relationship metacognitive skills of students with cognitive learning outcomes on the use of scientific learning strategies. The study was conducted during the semester. The study population was class X SMA Negeri 1 Malang, Indonesia. Samples taken as a single class taught using scientific learning strategy which is often known as 5M. The results show that there is a relationship metacognitive skills of students with cognitive learning outcomes in the application of scientific learning. The regression equation based on the results of the data analysis is y = 0,493x + 20.37 with the reliability value of  0.549  which means donations metacognitive skills of students on the cognitive learning is 54.9%, while 45.1% are other factors besides metacognitive skills. Conclusions based on these results that the students' metacognitive skills associated with cognitive achievement on the use of scientific learning.Keywords: metacognitive skills, the cognitive learning, learning scientific

Abstract

Salah satu bentuk pembelajaran kontekstual yang dilakukan dalam mata kuliah taksonomi  vertebrata  adalah melakukan penelitian proyek yang membahas kaitan antara etnozoologi  di daerah asal mahasiswa dengan ilmu taksonomi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk 1) mendeskripsikan materi taksonomi vertebrata yang dapat dipelajari dari kegiatan penelitian proyek etnozoologi; 2)  mendeskripsikan ragam etnozoologi yang digunakan dalam kegiatan penelitian proyek etnozoologi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang menggunakan bahan berupa data-data dari hasil penelitian proyek mahasiswa pada semester Gasal 2012/2013. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah melakukan telaah dan analisis data. Abstract

Kecenderungan petani menggunakan bahan agrokimia untuk  budidaya tanaman, terutama pupuk anorganik dan pestisida dalam jangka panjang dapat menimbulkan penurunan kualitas tanah. Penggunaan pupuk organik sangat diperlukan untuk memperbaiki kualitas tanah, terutama yang terkait dengan jumlah bakteri yang bermanfaat bagi pertumbuhan tanaman dan peningkatan produksi tanaman. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Jakenan dari bulan Nopember 2015 - Maret 2016, menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok lengkap (RAKL) dengan 6 perlakuan 3 ulangan. Tanaman yang digunakan adalah padi varietas Ciherang. Jarak tanam yang digunakan jajar legowo 2:1 dengan jarak dalam baris (20 x 20) cm. Ukuran plot yang digunakan adalah (10 x 5) m. Populasi bakteri dihitung menggunakan test kid bacterial SANICHECK. Dosis pupuk organik yang gunakan 10 ton dan 20 ton ha-1. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan populasi bakteri dan produksi tanaman padi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pupuk organik meningkatkan populasi bakteri tanah dari 102 menjadi 107. Produksi padi tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan penggunaan pupuk organik 20 ton ha-1 yang ditambah dengan pupuk NPK gabah kering panen sebesar 7,3 ton/ha diikuti penggunaan pupuk organik 10 ton/ha + NPK produksi mencapai 7,0 ton/ha. Kata Kunci        : pupuk organik, populasi bakteri, produksi padi

Abstract

Malapari (PongamiapinnataL.) is widespread in Indonesia and is a highly prospective priority species to support the national biofuel development program. The P. pinnata development program as one of the alternative biofuel producing species has begun at BBPPBTH through exploration and collection of genetic material from various provenances spread across Indonesia. Evaluation and analysis of the best provenances based on the yield of crude oil has been completed. To meet the needs of short-term seeds in 2018 has been the development of provenance seed sources using genetic material based on the best provenance. Another important urgent stage is the establishment of a P. pinnata breeding strategy that will be a provide direction to productivity improvement activities. Breeding strategies are crucial to optimize genetic acquisition effectively. Initiating the preparation of P. pinnata breeding strategies in the early stages, evaluating the fulfillment of elements of a breeding strategy that includes (1) the setting of breeding objectives, (2) preparation of the basic population and breeding population, (3) the selection methode, (4) the genetic test and 5) relationship management. Based on preliminary evaluation, there are still elements of breeding strategies that have not been met, such as the presence of basic populations that have wide genetic diversity, the selection of the most appropriate selection mothode, the implementation of genetic testing and the implementation of relationship management. For resource and time efficiency the focus and priority of P. pinnata breeding activities of the next phase should be directed to meet the four elements. In addition, attention to the determinants of P. pinnata breeding strategies should also receive attention such as the mastery of reproductive biology, understanding the role of additive and non-additive genes, hybrid potentials as well as interactions of genetic factors and location of development.

Abstract

The Karimunjawa National Park with lowland tropical rain forest ecosystems, coastal forest ecosystems, mangrove ecosystems, seagrass ecosystems and coral reef ecosystems rich in biodiversity needs conservation in order to avoid species extinction. The purpose of this research is to know the implementation of conservation policy of preservation and sustainable use of biological natural resources and its ecosystem in the Karimunjawa National Park 2012-2016. The research was conducted by qualitative method, processing secondary data from Karimunjawa National Park and interview with key informant. The results showed conservation through preservation activities held by the management of plant and animal species along with their habitat and ecosystem recovery. While conservation through sustainable utilization activities conducted with three activities of research and development of science, education and increasing awareness of nature conservation and the utilization of environmental services with nature tourism. Implementation of conservation policy requires the support of various parties, in addition to Karimunjawa National Park Authority as the manager of the area, the participation of Jepara regency, Central Java Provincial Government, the community, NGOs, researchers, developers and tourism actors is necessary. The involvement of related parties is expected to improve the successful implementation of conservation policies for preservation and sustainable use of biological natural resources and their ecosystems.

Abstract

The Mesofauna’s soil is a soil fauna which has a body size of 100 µm-< 2 mm its population has been rare because of applying an intensive agriculture system, which is based on the chemical equipment, such as chemical synthetic of fertilizer and synthetic insecticide. Other problem is less information about the diversity of soil mesofauna, especially in the agriculture apples at Tulungrejo, Bumiaji, Batu. The aim of this research is to determine of the species of soil mesofauna, ecology parameter, index of diversity, evenness index and soil fertility in the research area. The research used descriptive quantitative research. Descriptive research aims to describe an event and the events that occurred, quantitative research aims to explain numbers of data analysis using statistical. The research carried in the morning with the plot method (squares). Data were collected by direct observation of the population investigated. The results showed that soil mesofauna were found to consist of a kind Ascocyrtus sp, Homidia cingula, Isotomurus palustris, Pseudacorutes javanicus, Pseudisotoma sensibilis, Sphyroteca dawydoffi, and Macrocheles robustulus. Soil mesofauna of ecology parameters are: (1) density ranged from 0,592 ind/m2–131,556 ind/m2, relative density between of 0,002–0,484. The highest density species Homidia cingula and the lowest is Isotomurus palustris (2) frequency ranged between 0,037–0,926 the relative frequency ranged from 0,012–0,344 with the highest frequency value species Pseudisotoma and the lowest is Isotomurus palustris (3) the highest importance index value species Homidia cingula 0,756, and lowest is Isotomurus palustris 0,013. The index of diversity value Shannon wiener (H’) 1,368 or categories is low diversity values, so the soil fertility degree in the area of the research is low. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a standardized test instrument cognitive science subjects 7 junior class in accordance with steps of developing tests based on lattice UN year 2015/2016. Study Cognitive tests include the dimensions of factual knowledge, conceptual and procedural accordance with the revised Bloom cognitive levels. This type of research is the development of research. The data collection was done by using the test and non test. Source of data obtained from the results of the test answer sheets study, questionnaires and interviews with teachers and students in grade 7 junior in Banjar district. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and data analysis done qualitatively covering material, construction and language. Quantitative data analysis were performed using the MICROCAT Bigsteps 2:30 version. Results of the research is a description of the procedural process and product development are developed. The steps used to develop test instruments is to determine the purpose test, preparing test specifications, penulisansoal, a qualitative analysis by 9 experts (3 experts material, 3 experts construct, and 3 linguists), the revised phase I trials practicality in 4 teachers, a revised phase II, simulated use of the product in 3 students, the revision phase III, trial products on a single class of students from each school samples, analysis of items, and the revision stage IV. Learning achievement test instruments developed have excellent content validity based on the review of experts and high reliability butirsoal the 0.95. The end product development test research results in the form of 29 questions multiple choice test that can be used as a question bank and ready to be implemented.Keywords: Development of test instrument, Natural sciences, Junior high school, Kabupaten Banjar

Abstract

This paper offers several insights regarding the principles of qualitative research method, defining how itshape the empirical process as well as knowledge acquisition in biology and science research. The first partof the paper will briefly compare the assumptions, techniques, strengths and weaknesses of the quantitativeand qualitative research paradigms.These paradigms are examined in terms of past trends in biology andscience education research indicating a shift in approach from quantitative to qualitative over the last severaldecades. The core thesis of the paper contends the emerging trends of qualitative research to advance ourunderstanding of what it takes to more systemically and effectively improve programs, curriculum, tosynthesize new directions for research and to communicate a straightforward and unified message about theimpact and success in Biology and Science education. To conclude, issues on the horizon that represent newchallenges, opportunities, strategies, and technologies in qualitative research will be addressed anddeliberated.
