Abstract

Onychomycosis is a disease caused by dermatophyte fungi, including Microsporum, Trichophyton and Epidermophyton, apart from that, there are also non-dermatophyte fungi, including Aspergillus sp., and Malessezia furfur. This study aims to identify dermatophyte and non-dermatophyte fungi in the toenails of fish traders at the Pusong Fish Market and identify factors that can increase the risk of fungal infections in the toenails of fish traders, such as sanitation conditions, personal hygiene, or other environmental factors. This research uses a descriptive method by taking nail samples from fish traders, then analyzing them using Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) culture media. The results of the study showed that 100% of the samples showed nail abnormalities, with the distribution of non-dermatophyte fungal infections reaching 63.2% consisting of 24 people and dermatophyte 36.8% consisting of 14 people. Based on risk factor analysis, it indicates that sanitation conditions and personal hygiene of fish traders play an important role in the spread of fungal infections. The conclusion of this research is that all fish traders at the Pusong market experienced nail disorders (Onychomycosis) due to being infected with dermatophyte and non-dermatophyte fungi with the most common type of fungus being Aspergillus Niger which is a non-dermatophyte fungal group.

Abstract

Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria are able to convert amino acids into isovaleric acid which causes unpleasant odors. This research aims to determine whether the essential oil of black cumin seeds (Nigella sativa L.) can be formulated into a deodorant spray physically stable and it has activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis which causes body odor. The research method was laboratory experimental using water distillation to extract essential oils and formulate deodorant spray preparations with concentrations of F1 (1%), F2 (3%), and F3 (5%). Evaluation of preparations includes organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, spray pattern tests, dry time tests, emulsion type tests, irritation and hedonic tests, stability tests and antibacterial activity tests of preparations. The results of the research showed that the evaluation of the deodorant spray preparation of essential oil of black cumin seeds (Nigella sativa L.) had a P value of >0.05 so that this preparation was physically stable, while the statistical results of the antibacterial activity test obtained a P value of <0.05 indicating that there was a significant difference. This preparation has different activity diameters, including F1 (1%) in the medium category at 8.47 mm, F2 (3%) and F3 (5%) in the strong category with activity above 10-20 mm. It was concluded that the essential oil of black cumin seeds (Nigella sativa L.) can be formulated into a deodorant spray that is physically stable and has activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis which causes body odor

Abstract

Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy are discomforts that are estimated to occur in 70-80% of pregnant women. Some pregnant women usually avoid chemical or conventional drugs as far as possible due to concerns about potential teratogenic effects, so there is an increasing trend towards alternative treatments. The use of herbal medicines is often not reported to health professionals and health professionals rarely question the use of herbal medicines. Lack of knowledge about potential toxicities and ability to interact with conventional treatments may impact the mother and fetus . This article discusses herbs that have the potential to relieve symptoms of nausea and vomiting using a systematic review method by searching, collecting, filtering and reviewing related articles that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. This article uses two databases, namely Pubmed and Sciencedirect. It can be concluded that ginger, peppermint, lemon, quince, pomegranate, chamomile and cardamom can be used as alternative herbal choices to reduce nausea and vomiting and are safe for consumption by pregnant women at the appropriate dose.

Abstract

Anorectal malformation is a congenital abnormality that shows a condition without an anus or with an imperfect anus. Anorectal malformation is a common congenital problem that occurs in 1 in 5,000 births. Anorectal malformation is a classification where anorectal malformations are divided into high and low locations, as well as whether or not a colostomy is necessary. Anamesis and physical examination are very important in establishing a diagnosis of anorectal malformations. Plain radiographs of the lumbar spine and sacrum should be taken to evaluate the hemivertebrae and sacruml spine. Generally, low-lying malformations can be corrected directly with Posterior Sagitttal Anorectoplasty (PSARP) or anoplasty, while high-lying malformations require 3 stages of surgery, including the creation of a temporary colostomy. A colostomy is needed for decompression and protection against the possibility of intestinal obstruction.

Abstract

During the child and adolescent years, internet and social media use has a significant impact on social, emotional and mental health development. UN research shows that 47 percent of the world's population uses the internet, with one-third of them under the age of 18. Intense social media use, such as checking more than 10 times per day, can have negative impacts, including threats to personal safety, sleep disturbances and addiction. However, the internet also provides extensive access to information and strengthens social relationships. The role of pediatricians is crucial in educating parents and providing wise guidance on children's use of the internet and social media, including supervising, setting limits, and providing information on cyberbullying and sexual harassment. With proper supervision, children and adolescents can utilize the internet and social media positively without harming their mental health and development.
