Abstract

Government policy in education is implemented by implementing an independent curriculum at all school levels. How prepared schools are to implement the independent curriculum needs to be known in terms of readiness, implementation, challenges and the future of the implementation in elementary and secondary schools in Palangka Raya. The objectives of this study include (1) challenges in implementation, (2) describing the implementation of the independent curriculum in schools, and (3) evaluation after the implementation of the independent curriculum. The method used in this study was a survey and needs assessment. The sample used was random sampling to 25 schools. The results of the study found that the challenges faced were socialization and training only online, so at the beginning of the implementation, they still did not understand, but continued to implement the independent curriculum while studying, preparing intracurricular and co-curricular lesson schedules, preparing formations in classes and cross-interest subjects with existing teacher human resources so that they are evenly distributed, compiling CP and teaching modules, because, in the previous curriculum, there were KI and KD teachers only reduced them to indicators and learning objectives, implementing the Pancasila student profile, independent curriculum teaching materials were not yet available, and administration in compiling the Operational Curriculum of Education Units (KOSP) or Madrasah Operational Curriculum (KOM). The implementation of the independent curriculum has 25 schools that have carried out the independent learning stage, 22 schools have been at the independent change stage, and 10 schools are at the independent sharing stage. 88.9% of teachers stated that the biggest challenge is the difference in learning components between the independent curriculum and the previous curriculum. Evaluation from teachers showed that 77.8% of the implementation of the independent curriculum improved students' hard and soft skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the inclusiveness of information for users with disabilities at the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province. The main focus of this study is to identify obstacles, facilities, and efforts made by the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province in providing access to information that can be accessed by people with disabilities. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method conducted at the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews with library officers, direct observation of existing facilities and services, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that although several inclusive steps have been taken, such as the provision of braille books and physical accessibility, there are still obstacles in terms of the use of more disability-friendly technology and the lack of training for library officers related to services for people with disabilities. Therefore, this study recommends improving technological infrastructure, increasing training for library staff, and developing more comprehensive policies to support the inclusiveness of information for all users, especially people with disabilities. This study is expected to contribute to the development of inclusive policies and practices in the field of libraries and archives, as well as raising awareness of the importance of equal access to information for all groups. This study concludes that to achieve better information inclusivity, there needs to be an increase in the provision of disability-friendly facilities, training for officers, and increased use of technology that supports information accessibility for users with disabilities.

Abstract

In the context of higher education, work stress is an important issue faced by lecturers; work stress is a challenge faced by lecturers in higher education and can have a negative impact on the quality of teaching and human resource development. This study aims to develop a constellation model of influence between variables that contribute to reducing the work stress of lecturers at XYZ Private Higher Education. The research method used is a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, including surveys, interviews, and path analysis, to identify the relationship between independent and dependent variables. In addition, this study applies the Scientific Identification Theory to Conduct Research in Education Management (SITOREM) method to find the optimal strategy for reducing the work stress of lecturers. The results of the study indicate that several variables have a significant influence on the level of work stress of lecturers, including workload, social support, job satisfaction, and work-life balance. High workload tends to increase stress, while social support from colleagues and leaders, as well as high job satisfaction, can reduce stress levels. SITOREM analysis found that job security policies, fairer workload management, and increased social support and welfare facilities can be strategic solutions to reduce the work stress of lecturers. The conclusion of this study confirms that optimizing positive factors such as social support, work anxiety, and work-life balance can effectively reduce lecturers' work stress. The implications of these findings are expected to be the basis for university policies to improve lecturers' welfare and quality.

Abstract

One form of implementation of technology and digitalization in education is integrating social media sites such as TikTok Edu into the education curriculum. In addition to functioning as entertainment, this software provides students with an engaging and dynamic learning tool. The purpose of this study was to analyze how the use of the TikTok Edu application and the participatory role of students contribute to improving their academic abilities in the context of the Independent Curriculum. With a survey methodology involving 200 students, this study used quantitative techniques. Using a multiple linear regression approach, the survey measured how much students utilize TikTok Edu and actively participate in education. The study results show that using the TikTok Edu application significantly improves students' understanding of academic material because this platform provides a more interactive, interesting learning method based on students' learning styles in the digital era. Students' active participation in learning through online discussions, collaboration in creating educational content, or reflection on the material presented also improves their understanding and academic achievement. Based on these findings, the study recommends the broader use of TikTok Edu in the world of education as a supporting tool in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, which emphasizes student independence in determining the most effective way of learning for them, increasing creativity in absorbing and conveying information, and encouraging active participation in various learning activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of cognitive load and learning fatigue on students' success in solving Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions. Mental fatigue due to extensive and rigorous learning is known as learning fatigue, while cognitive load refers to the mental stress experienced by students when absorbing new material. This study used an experimental and quantitative technique. For this study, 120 students were used, half in the control group and the other half in the experimental group. Data were collected through cognitive load surveys, HOTS tests, and learning fatigue. The study's findings showed a correlation between cognitive load and students' performance on the HOTS test. Critical thinking and analytical skills, essential for answering HOTS questions, were often lacking in students with high cognitive load. Another factor that decreased students' efficacy in solving problems was learning fatigue. When students do not get enough sleep or do not spend enough time studying, they become mentally exhausted and lose focus more easily. This fatigue reduces their ability to persist in working on challenging tasks. As a result, students have difficulty applying their information in a higher and more integrated context, even though their knowledge is quite good. The importance of effectively managing cognitive load and learning regarding students' effectiveness in solving HOTS problems cannot be overstated.

Abstract

Science is one of three subjects tested as a national standard exam for the elementary school level. Science learning is not only oriented towards knowledge, but it also has an important connection with the daily life of every living thing and the environment. Science is expected to be a vehicle for students to learn about themselves, the environment, and prospects for further development and apply them in their daily lives. This study aims to determine the learning outcomes of students in science after using the inquiry training model and its application in class V SDN 122366 Pematangsiantar. This research was conducted in September 2024 on teachers and students of class V SDN 122366 Pematangsiantar City. This qualitative research uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The learning instruments in this study consisted of the syllabus, lesson plans, and student worksheets. Data collection techniques used tests, observations, and interviews. Based on the test results in each cycle, the results showed that student scores increased, namely before applying the inquiry training model at the pre-cycle stage 53.44 with a percentage of completion of 12.5% ??included in the less category. At the cycle one stage after applying the inquiry training model, the average score of students was 69.37, with a percentage of completion of 43.75% in the sufficient category.Furthermore, at the cycle II stage, students' average score was 80, with a completion percentage of 87.5% in the outstanding category. Learning has achieved completion through the established success indicators. Student activity also increased; in cycle I, it was 45.31%, and in cycle II, it was 71.87%.

Abstract

Culture is the result of human thought that can be in the form of objects or actions, which need to be preserved in order to maintain the nation's historical heritage. This study focuses on the introduction of two ethnic groups, namely Batak Toba and Batak Karo. In Batak Toba, marriage customs are one of the prominent cultures in the lives of the Batak Toba people. Meanwhile, Batak Karo has a typical food, namely Cimpa. The uniqueness of these two cultures enriches the diversity of Indonesian customs that attract the attention of many people, including foreign speakers. BIPA teaching research aims to help foreign learners achieve the ability to communicate in Indonesian well and correctly. The focus of this study is to introduce the culture of North Sumatra, especially the Batak Toba and Batak Karo cultures, through the Kincir Angka game. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, namely an approach that aims to explore or describe the social situation as a whole. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the Kincir Angka game is effective in helping BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) learners understand and get to know the culture of North Sumatra, especially the culture of the Batak Toba and Batak Karo tribes. The results of the trial showed that the use of this game can improve learners' memory of cultural elements, such as traditional Batak Toba clothing and typical Batak Karo food. The application of the Kincir Angka game as a learning medium helps overcome the limitations in teaching culture that are often faced by BIPA teachers and makes it easier for learners to match visual information with words in Indonesian.

Abstract

This study aims to determine several factors that cause difficulties experienced by Informatics Engineering Students at Pamulang University in studying the material in the Basic Physics course. The research method used in qualitative descriptive research where the data taken using interview techniques related to learning difficulties faced by students and the results of student tests from several basic physics lecture materials such as vector resultants with a percentage of students experiencing difficulties of 96.87%, particle motion dynamics 87.50%, conservative force 90.65%, waves 78.16%, and electricity mustsn 62.50%, where the data taken came from 1st semester students of the Informatics Engineering study program at Pamulang University. The results showed that students' learning difficulties in understanding the materials in the introductory physics course were caused by several factors, including weak mastery of basic mathematics, low understanding of physics material concepts, low learning motivation, less than optimal fighting spirit, and also lack of independent practice of basic physics questions outside of lecture assignments. Based on the results of the data, providing motivation and reinforcement of the material more intensively at each lecture meeting is a note to lecturers so that they can continue to increase interest, raise motivation and fighting spirit of students in understanding fundamental physics material and lecturers need to create strategies for lecture activities to be more interesting to students so that they can also improve learning outcomes optimally.

Abstract

This study aims to find out efforts to increase the sense of nationalism through the comic media Cermat Bhineka at the 'Aisyiyah Pandan Guidance Studio, Malaysia. Nationalism is an important value in the formation of national identity that must be instilled in the younger generation, especially in a multicultural context. Cermat Bhineka's comic media was chosen as a tool to convey national messages in a more interesting and easy-to-understand way for children. This study uses a qualitative approach with the classroom action research method, which involves planning, implementation, observation, and reflection activities in certain cycles. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation during the learning process at the 'Aisyiyah Pandan Guidance Center. With the subject, namely 22 students. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in students' sense of nationalism after the implementation of Cermat Bhineka's comic media. At the pre-action stage, most of the students were in the low category, with a percentage of 41.4%. However, after the application of the Cermat Bhineka comic in Cycle I, there was an increase with a better average score of 60.8%. Further improvements were recorded in Cycle II, where all students were in the high category with an average excellent score of 85.3%. In addition, the assessment of the practicality of Cermat Bhineka's comic media showed that the use of this media was very practical in improving student understanding, with the percentage of practicality reaching 90.75%. The use of Cermat Bhineka comics can increase students' understanding and sense of nationalism, which is reflected in increased participation, discussion, and appreciation of cultural diversity and national values. Based on these findings, it is recommended that comic media continue to be developed and used as one of the learning methods to arouse the spirit of nationalism in the younger generation, especially in a multicultural environment such as Malaysia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the difficulties in learning mathematics in simple fraction materials experienced by grade VI students at Nida Suksasat School Elementary School, Satun, Thailand, and to explore the effectiveness of using fractional card media in overcoming these difficulties. This study uses a case study approach with 30 grade VI students who have difficulty understanding the concept of simple fractions. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and tests before and after using fractional card media. The results show that students' main difficulties are understanding the concept of dividing equal parts in fractions and performing mathematical operations such as addition and subtraction of fractions. Using fractional card media has proven to be effective in helping students visualize the concept of fractions and improve their understanding. This media also helps students understand the relationship between parts and the whole, making solving fractional problems easier. This study suggests that fractional card media is used regularly in mathematics learning to reduce learning difficulties in simple fractional material in grade VI of Elementary School. Most students have difficulty understanding simple fraction material, especially in recognizing the concept of fractions, performing basic operations such as addition and subtraction of fractions, and simplifying fractions. Students also have difficulty understanding the relationship between fractions, decimals, and percents.
