Abstract

This study aims to analyze sasi pala as a form of social ecology that contributes to preserving natural resources while strengthening community resilience. Sasi pala, a customary practice in Maluku, regulates nutmeg harvesting to ensure sustainability, maintain ecological balance, and reinforce social cohesion within the community. This research employs in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis using a qualitative approach. The study focuses on the Negeri Seith community, with data analyzed through environmental sociology and community resilience. Findings reveal that sasi pala is a conservation mechanism and a social contract that strengthens local governance and collective responsibility. It prevents overexploitation, facilitates intergenerational knowledge transfer, and ensures economic sustainability through continuous nutmeg production. However, this study is limited to sasi pala communities in Maluku, making its findings less generalizable to other ecological and socio-cultural contexts. Further research should explore sasi practices across different commodities and regions to broaden the understanding of sustainability rooted in indigenous wisdom. This research contributes to environmental sociology, indigenous resource management, and sustainable development discussions. Its insights can inform policymakers and scholars on integrating customary practices into modern conservation strategies. Unlike previous studies focusing primarily on conservation, this study highlights sasi pala as a dynamic socio-ecological institution that not only preserves biodiversity but also strengthens the social resilience of the communities that uphold it.

Abstract

Generation Z has a close relationship with the internet, leading to the emergence of various new habits, such as the fear of missing out (FoMO) behavior. In the digital context, this behavior is referred to as Online Fear of Missing Out (On-FoMO), which is the tendency to always stay connected to online activities due to the fear of missing out on information or trening topics. In social media usage, there are also norms or ethical rules that serve as boundaries for individuals' actions, commonly known as netiquette. Based on interviews conducted with guidance and counseling students, they admitted to experiencing FoMO, particularly in social media activities such as monitoring social media, adopting speech styles, following jokes, and keeping up with the latest news. However, in internet activities, some of them believe that ethical considerations are necessary, while others admitted to having acted outside these ethical boundaries. This study aims to analyze the relationship between On-FoMO and netiquette among students of the Guidance and Counseling Department at Lambung Mangkurat University. The results indicate that the majority of respondents have low to moderate levels of On-FoMO, whereas their netiquette levels tend to be high. Correlation analysis shows a value of r = -0.090 with p = 0.140 (>0.05). These results indicate that there is no significant relationship between On-FoMO and netiquette. Although there is a tendency for higher On-FoMO levels to correlate with lower netiquette, this relationship is very weak and cannot be concluded as significant. These findings suggest that other faktors influence netiquette more than On-FoMO levels. Therefore, future researchers are encouraged to include additional variabels to gain a deeper understanding of netiquette, such as digital awareness, social norms, self-control, and social media experience.

Abstract

This research explores using the Predict, Observe, and Explain (POE) model to enhance the learning process in elementary schools, particularly in biology lessons. The study conducted at SMP Berea Tondano with class VII focuses on how the POE model affects student understanding and engagement, specifically in classifying living organisms. A classroom action research (CAR) approach was employed in two cycles, each involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. Nine students from class VII participated in the study. Data were collected through observations, student activity sheets, and tests at the end of each cycle to evaluate the impact of the POE model on learning outcomes and student engagement. The research findings revealed significant improvements in student engagement and learning outcomes across the two cycles. In the first cycle, 55.56% of students achieved the learning goals, which increased to 88.89% in the second cycle. Similarly, student activity levels rose from 35.71% in the first cycle to 78.57% in the second cycle, reflecting greater participation and motivation. The study concludes that the POE model effectively enhances student learning outcomes and promotes active engagement. By involving students in prediction, observation, and explanation, the POE model aids in better understanding and retention of biological concepts. Further research is suggested to explore its application in other subjects and educational contexts.

Abstract

Mathematics education in Indonesia, particularly in high schools, faces significant challenges in improving students' understanding of abstract concepts, especially in statistics. The lack of practical application and the focus on memorization of formulas hinder students' ability to relate mathematical concepts to real-life situations. To address these challenges, Project-Based Learning (PjBL) is proposed as an effective approach that engages students in real-world projects, encouraging active participation, critical thinking, and the application of mathematical concepts. This study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) to develop a Student Worksheet (LKPD) based on PjBL for teaching statistics in class XII at SMK Kesehatan Bulawan. The development process includes analyzing the curriculum, student characteristics, and learning goals, followed by designing, validating, and revising the LKPD. The product is then implemented in a small group trial and evaluated for its validity, practicality, and effectiveness through expert validation, practical questionnaires, and student learning tests. The LKPD received very high validity, with expert validation scores of 95% for content and 90% for design, resulting in an average score of 92.5%. Practicality assessments showed a 91.5% average, indicating the LKPD was easy to use by both teachers and students. The effectiveness of the LKPD was confirmed by an 80% average student achievement rate, with 80% of students meeting the KKM (Minimum Completeness Criteria). The developed LKPD based on PjBL is highly valid, practical, and effective for improving students' understanding of statistics, making it a suitable tool for enhancing mathematics education in SMK.

Abstract

Education at the elementary school level is a crucial stage for children to recognize and understand letter symbols as a basis for reading and writing. For this reason, reading and writing skills are closely related to a person's language or communication skills in their social environment. The role of teachers in providing services for students with intellectual disabilities in reading and writing is not only as an educator but also as a facilitator and motivators in helping students achieve their best potential. This study uses literature study research by analyzing by comparing the results of previous studies through journals that are relevant to the study of the problems being studied. Language in social communication (the relationship between language, society, and ecology) Students in schools more often use regional languages, namely Malay, in communicating both during learning in the classroom and the school environment. This habit causes students' Indonesian language vocabulary to be lacking, impacting the following lessons. This can be seen in students who have difficulty understanding interactive communication during the learning process even though they use Indonesian and understand the contents of the reading. The impact of this difficulty is that students' learning achievements are often below the KKM. This student does not understand the punctuation in a text, writes irregularly, is not fluent in reading, and even has difficulty communicating with his interlocutor. The role of teachers can overcome the difficulties of students who experience intellectual barriers academically in reading and writing at SDN 004 Teluk Durian Elementary School by implementing various strategies and appropriate approaches.

Abstract

This study analyses the influence of learning models, cognitive abilities, and facilities on students' academic achievement. Improving student learning outcomes heavily depends on the learning model used in the teaching and learning process. Both internal and external factors influence academic achievement. Internal aspects include students' cognitive capacity, while external factors include the availability of facilities. Students' cognitive capacities contribute to their understanding and application of the concepts taught, and selecting an appropriate learning model can enhance the efficacy of the learning process. Conversely, a better learning environment is supported by sufficient facilities. This study used a quantitative methodology based on survey research. Questionnaires distributed in senior high schools were used to gather data. In particular, the study found that student's academic achievement improved when they were more actively involved in and understood the content through technology-based learning models that were interactive and centred around technology. Compared to pupils with lower cognitive abilities, those with higher cognitive abilities tend to do better in school. Comfortable classrooms, access to technology, and sufficient teaching materials are all examples of full and high-quality learning facilities that positively affect student learning results. Using multiple linear regression analysis, we find that all three factors, the learning model in particular, contribute significantly to students' performance in the classroom. These results show that to raise the bar for education, we must enhance learning strategies, help students hone their cognitive capacities, and build better classrooms.
