Abstract

Economic uncertainty encourages students to be prepared to face workplace challenges and to contribute to entrepreneurial activities. However, some students still feel hesitant to start a business despite having received a business education. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between business education and increased entrepreneurial interest among students in the Faculty of Economics at the State University of Medan (UNIMED). This study employs a quantitative, correlational survey method. Data collection was conducted using a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to students of the Faculty of Economics at the State University of Medan (UNIMED). Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and simple linear regression. The results showed that business education has a positive and significant effect on students' entrepreneurial interest in the Faculty of Economics at the State University of Medan. Simple linear regression analysis yielded a coefficient of 0.447 and a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that improving the quality of business education is associated with increased student entrepreneurial interest. Validity tests showed that all statement items had calculated r values greater than the table r, so the instrument was declared valid. The reliability test yielded Cronbach's alphas of 0.842 for the business education variable and 0.856 for entrepreneurial interest, indicating that the research instrument is reliable. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.564 indicates that business education explains 56.4% of the variation in students' entrepreneurial interest, with 43.6% attributable to other factors outside the research model. These results indicate that business education makes a fairly strong contribution to shaping entrepreneurial interest. However, it is not the sole factor, as psychological and environmental factors still influence it.

Abstract

This study examined how speaking self-efficacy and speaking proficiency developed through Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) in an undergraduate EFL classroom at STAI Ma’arif Magetan, Indonesia. A qualitative case study design was employed. Data were collected from repeated classroom observations across an eight-session CLT unit, semi-structured interviews with twelve students, instructional documents, and students’ speaking task recordings rated descriptively with an analytic speaking rubric. Observational evidence showed increasing student talk time, frequent pair and group interaction, and growing negotiation of meaning as tasks progressed from information-gap exchanges to problem-solving discussions and short presentations with Q&A. Thematic analysis revealed five pathways of self-efficacy growth: mastery experiences from successful task completion, peer support, supportive feedback, systematic scaffolding, and emerging self-regulation strategies. Performance evidence from recordings indicated noticeable improvement in fluency and interactive communication, alongside gradual gains in intelligibility and vocabulary range, while grammatical accuracy improved more modestly. Triangulation across interviews, observations, and performance samples suggested a positive cycle in which higher self-efficacy increased willingness to speak and persistence, thereby expanding practice opportunities and strengthening proficiency. The study concludes that CLT, when implemented as a coherent system of progressive tasks, scaffolding, and constructive feedback, can effectively support confidence-building and speaking development in higher-education EFL settings. Pedagogically, instructors are encouraged to sequence tasks from low-stakes interaction to higher-stakes performance, provide language support, and use feedback that prioritizes intelligibility and next steps. Limitations include a single-site case and a short observation window; future studies may compare multiple classes and track longer-term retention of gains.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the condition of Barito Kuala Regency, which experiences major flooding every year and has a serious impact on vulnerable groups, especially people with disabilities and blindness who have limited mobility. Based on interviews with the Head of the Barito Kuala Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), there is currently no inclusive, disability-friendly disaster management service flow. This problem is exacerbated by the lack of cross-sector collaboration among BPBD, the Social Service, the Health Service, and the Education Service, as well as the absence of a service flow for people with disabilities during disasters. This research uses a qualitative approach, applying the Research and Development (R&D) method for 3D models (Define, Design, Develop), adapted from 4D by Thiagarajan et al. Data sources include BPBD Barito Kuala, the Social Service, the Health Service, lecturers specializing in special education, and people with disabilities and people with blindness. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and documentation, while data analysis is conducted both qualitatively and quantitatively. The study's results indicate that the Barito Kuala Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) does not yet have an inclusive disaster management service system; as a result, residents with disabilities are not accommodated during floods. The service flow developed in this study includes three main phases: pre-disaster, during the disaster, and post-disaster, with adjustments to the needs of people with disabilities that were deemed appropriate by three validators, and were assessed as easy to understand, accessible, and appropriate to the needs of people with disabilities according to users. The final product of this study is expected to serve as an operational guideline for the Barito Kuala BPBD in creating an adaptive, equitable, and disability-friendly disaster management system.

Abstract

This study investigates how school principals manage the implementation of the zoning-based New Student Admission (PPDB) policy as a strategy to promote equitable access to education. Using a qualitative case study design, the research was conducted at two public senior high schools in Ciamis Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that principals’ managerial and leadership capacities strongly influence effective policy implementation. Successful practices include systematic planning, collaborative task distribution, transparent communication with stakeholders, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. However, several challenges were identified, including community resistance, infrastructure disparities, technical limitations in the online registration system, and increased administrative workload. To address these issues, principals adopted adaptive strategies, including stakeholder engagement, service improvement, and staff capacity building. The study concludes that zoning policies cannot achieve educational equity without strong school leadership and institutional readiness. This research contributes to the literature by emphasizing the managerial role of principals as a critical mediator between policy design and implementation outcomes, and by offering practical implications for strengthening leadership capacity in educational reform.

Abstract

This study examines how literacy program management contributes to improving students’ reading interest in elementary schools. Using a qualitative descriptive case study design, the research was conducted at SDN 1 Rawa and SDN 2 Lumbungsari in Ciamis Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the effectiveness of literacy initiatives is strongly influenced by principals’ managerial and leadership capacities rather than solely by the availability of facilities. Strategic planning, clear task organization, consistent daily reading routines, and continuous evaluation enabled the embedding of literacy practices into everyday school activities and learning processes. Despite challenges such as limited resources, low student motivation, and time constraints, schools adopted adaptive strategies, including collaboration with stakeholders, material rotation, and creative literacy activities, to sustain engagement. The study concludes that literacy development should be viewed as a systematic and school-wide management process. This research contributes to educational management literature by highlighting principal leadership as a key mediating factor linking literacy policy to sustainable reading culture in elementary education.

Abstract

The growing urgency of character education in the digital age is closely tied to the challenges faced by Generation Z, who are shaped by rapid technological and social change that contributes to identity instability, cyberbullying, and mental health pressures. Addressing these issues requires a framework that integrates spirituality, ethical awareness, and digital literacy to cultivate integrity, responsibility, and psychological balance. This study examines Jean Twenge's technological–psychological perspective alongside Al-Ghazali's spirituality-based character framework to design a curriculum relevant to the Indonesian context. Using a systematic literature review, the research synthesizes primary works by Al-Ghazali, including Tahafut al-Falasifah, Al-Maq?ad al-Asn? f? Shar? Ma??n? Asm?? All?h al-?usn?, and I?y?’ Ul?m al-D?n with contemporary scholarship on mental health and digital ethics. Data were analyzed through thematic coding centered on five domains: character education, mental well-being, digital ethics, curriculum design, and spiritual morality, using stages of comparison, contrast, and critique. The findings propose an integrative curriculum model combining digital literacy and emotional resilience with moral purification and spiritual grounding, structured around three pillars: character formation, responsible technology engagement, and spiritual development. Although implementation presents challenges related to multicultural adaptation, teacher preparedness, and assessment of character outcomes, the model offers a holistic pathway for nurturing balanced learners. The study recommends pilot implementation in schools and Pesantren, the development of assessment tools for mental and moral growth, and longitudinal research to evaluate the long-term impact across diverse educational settings.

Abstract

Students’ learning outcomes in algebra, particularly in the addition and subtraction of algebraic expressions, remain relatively low. This problem is mainly caused by students’ limited understanding of like terms, variables, and algebraic operations due to the predominance of conventional teaching methods. Therefore, the use of innovative and concrete learning media, such as the algebra box, is expected to improve students’ conceptual understanding and learning outcomes. This study employed an experimental, quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 14 seventh-grade students of MTs Al-Mizan. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments to measure students’ learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the algebra box media. The data were analyzed using the chi-square normality test and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test because the data were not normally distributed. The findings showed a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of the algebra box media. The average pretest score increased from 37.71 to 85.46 in the posttest. The Wilcoxon test results indicated that Wcount = 105 and Wtable = 21 (? = 0.05), meaning that the null hypothesis (H?) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H?) was accepted. The use of algebra box media significantly improves seventh-grade students’ learning outcomes in the addition and subtraction of algebraic expressions at MTs Al-Mizan. This learning media can serve as an effective alternative to support students’ conceptual understanding in algebra.

Abstract

Programming learning success is an important indicator in information technology education; many students still struggle to understand algorithmic concepts, logic, and code implementation. This problem indicates that a data-driven approach is needed to identify students' initial successes and failures in programming learning. The purpose of this study is to develop and validate a predictive model for programming learning success using Support Vector Machine (SVM), a classification algorithm. This research method includes steps such as data collection and preprocessing, feature selection, splitting the dataset into training and test sets, training the SVM model with parameter optimization, and evaluating performance using the test set. The results show that the SVM model achieves good classification performance with an accuracy of 87.5%, precision of 85.7%, F1 score of 87.8%, and AUC of 0.91, placing it in the excellent category. These findings indicate that the model has strong discriminatory power in distinguishing between successful and unsuccessful students. Therefore, the SVM method has been proven effective as a data-driven prediction system. This also allows for the development of more targeted and adaptive learning intervention strategies and academic decision-making.
