Abstract

As a boarding school-based educational environment with intense activities, Islamic boarding schools have high potential risks in terms of safety, health, and the environment, thus requiring systematic and integrated risk management. This Community Service activity aims to empower students and managers of Al Mizan Islamic Boarding School in Lamongan through the application of participatory and digital technology-based Digital Risk Mapping. The method used is a participatory approach through focus group discussions, counseling and training on hazard identification and risk analysis, as well as assistance in compiling a digital risk map. The results of the activity show an increase in the knowledge and awareness of students and boarding school administrators regarding K3 and environmental risk management. Additionally, an OSH risk map for the boarding school environment was developed, which includes high-risk areas, types of hazards, and risk levels, and is ready to be used as a basis for risk control and emergency preparedness. It was concluded that this program contributes to building a risk-aware culture and strengthening the internal capacity of the boarding school towards more systematic and sustainable risk management.

Abstract

Teacher training is an important strategy for improving the quality of early childhood education particularly in implementing learning approaches that emphasize meaningful experiences. This article aims to describe the evaluation results of an Experiential Creative Learning module training for early childhood education teachers and to examine teachers’ understanding expectations implementation challenges and the initial impact on classroom practices. The training was conducted in Temanggung Regency and involved 30 teachers from playgroup and kindergarten levels who are members of HIMPAUDI. A descriptive approach was employed with data collected through post training evaluation questionnaires. The findings indicate that most teachers demonstrated a good level of understanding of the Experiential Creative Learning concept after participating in the training. Teachers expressed expectations that learning activities would become more meaningful interactive and capable of encouraging children’s active participation and creativity. However several challenges were identified including limited time workload demands shifts in teacher mindset and insufficient institutional and facility support. These findings suggest that Experiential Creative Learning training has the potential to strengthen meaningful learning practices in early childhood education although sustained mentoring and systemic support are necessary to ensure long term implementation.

Abstract

Many elementary school teachers have not implemented BK in the classroom. On average, this is because teachers have not yet honed their abilities in implementing guidance and counseling in elementary schools. There are not many self-development activities or training regarding the implementation of BK in elementary schools. The same thing was also found during research at SDN 1 Kekeri. Based on this fact, the Mataram University service team took the initiative to hold a workshop on revitalizing the implementation of Guidance and Counseling in elementary schools. One of the main tasks of the tri dharma of higher education is to serve. The form of activity chosen was a workshop on strengthening the role of elementary school teachers as counselors as well as strengthening the implementation of BK in elementary schools. To achieve the objectives of counseling and training as implied in the title of this community service, several methods are used, namely lectures, questions and answers or discussions and mentoring. The result of the service is a workshop held at partner elementary schools on Friday, June 16 2023 at 09.00-12.00 WITA. The participants were 13 teachers and 1 principal of SDN 1 Kekeri. The workshop was divided into 3 sessions, namely opening, presentation of material, and questions and answers. The material presented is: (1) the concept of guidance and counseling; (2) the scope of BK in elementary school; (3) the form of guidance and counseling services in elementary schools; (4) BK management in elementary schools; and (5) challenges and supports for implementing BK in elementary schools. The activity went smoothly and the initial aim was to increase the understanding of teachers at SDN 1 Kekeri regarding the implementation of guidance and counseling services in elementary schools.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology requires teachers, including pre-service elementary school (SD/MI) teachers, to integrate interactive learning media into the teaching process. However, preliminary observations showed that most pre-service teachers had limited understanding of utilizing Quizizz, resulting in low pedagogical creativity and skills. To address this issue, an applicative and participatory workshop was conducted to enhance pedagogical competence, specifically technical mastery and creativity in developing Quizizz-based learning media, while providing direct hands-on technology integration experience. This activity utilized a Participatory Action Research (PAR) method emphasizing active student involvement. The subjects were 29 pre-service elementary teachers from the PGMI Study Program at UIN Mataram. Data were collected via pre-test and post-test questionnaires, observation sheets, and media product analysis, which were then evaluated using descriptive quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results revealed a significant improvement: before the workshop, most students only had basic knowledge (68.2% moderate, 18.2% no understanding), whereas post-workshop, 72.4% stated they had a very high understanding. Furthermore, 75.9% considered the workshop highly beneficial for designing interactive and innovative lessons. The resulting media products also showed remarkable improvements in design, interactivity, and content relevance. In conclusion, the Quizizz-based workshop effectively enhanced pedagogical competence for the digital era.

Abstract

The 2018 Lombok earthquake left profound psychological trauma among the residents of East Salut Hamlet. To address this condition, the EC3 Mataram Team and SHEEP Indonesia collaborated to conduct holistic psychosocial mentoring. This program aimed to alleviate post-disaster fear and build community mental resilience. The intervention methods applied included participatory social mentoring, group gymnastics, and interactive trauma-healing games. The results demonstrated a significant reduction in anxiety, the restoration of social cohesion through physical activity, and the return of children's cheerfulness. This strategic collaboration successfully transformed residents from passive victims into resilient survivors, establishing collective mental resilience for the post-disaster rehabilitation.
