Abstract

This case study aims to explore the challenges and benefits of school-family-community partnerships in early childhood education in Indonesia. The purpose of the study is to illustrate how the Indonesian Partnership framework can be used to build, evaluate and address the challenges of such partnerships. The method used is a case study approach, which examines a specific early childhood education setting. The study found that the Indonesian Partnership framework can help schools structure and initiate partnership programs, as well as evaluate and sustain the activities. The study also highlights the importance of reflection and evaluation in collaboration. The results suggest that teacher training programs on building partnerships with families and communities could equip teachers with communication skills, strategies to address challenges, and knowledge to evaluate and sustain partnership programs.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low speaking skills of children aged 5–6 years in expressing ideas, telling experiences, and using vocabulary coherently during learning activities. This research aimed to develop Storyboard DAB (Daily Activity Board) media and determine its effectiveness in improving the speaking skills of children. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The subjects of this research were 25 children in group B at TK Islam Al-Fatah. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, observation, and pretest–posttest assessments. Data analysis was conducted using the Paired Sample t-test and N-Gain test. The results showed that the Storyboard DAB media was feasible to be used in learning activities. The hypothesis test indicated a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, which means there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. The N-Gain value of 0.0536 indicates that there was an improvement in children's speaking skills, although it was still categorized as low. In conclusion, Storyboard DAB (Daily Activity Board) can be used as an alternative learning media to help improve the speaking skills of children aged 5–6 years.

Abstract

As the number of full-time working parents continues to rise, so does the demand for high-quality daycare services. However, many daycare centers still lack structured learning programs that support the holistic development of young children. This study responds to that gap by developing a creative learning model grounded in play-based learning, specifically designed for caregivers at Sunshine Daycare, an early childhood center under the management of the Early Childhood Education Department (PG-PAUD), UNESA. Using the ADDIE model within a Research and Development (R&D) framework, data were collected through observations and interviews with caregivers and parents. The results reveal that implementing play-based creative learning empowers caregivers to plan engaging daily activities and signature programs that foster children's development across multiple domains: language, cognitive, motor, moral-religious, and socio-emotional. These findings underscore the urgency of integrating structured, child-centered approaches in daycare settings to ensure purposeful and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.

Abstract

This descriptive qualitative study examines the effectiveness of counter-linguistic strategies implemented through interactive storytelling to address the imitation of age-inappropriate slang among early childhood students driven by massive digital media exposure. Data gathered through observations, interviews, and documentation reveal that creative narratives featuring polite characters effectively motivate children to adopt correct diction naturally. The two-way interaction inherent in storytelling allows children to clarify the meanings of slang terms encountered on social media, while the repetitive use of positive vocabulary within the narrative helps internalize politeness values without being preachy. The results demonstrate that this strategy successfully reduces slang usage by replacing it with more communicative and polite alternatives. The success of this intervention relies heavily on the teacher's creativity in weaving target vocabulary into engaging plots, leading children to voluntarily switch to more respectful language in their daily interactions, thereby fostering better character development and linguistic etiquette.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of optimizing playdough-based activities to enhance fine motor skills in children aged 4–5 years. Employing a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design, the research involved 28 children divided into an experimental group (, structured playdough intervention) and a control group (, conventional paper-based media). Data were collected using structured observation scales and performance rubrics, and analyzed via descriptive statistics, N-Gain scores, and independent t-tests. Results indicate a significant disparity in motor skill acquisition between the groups (). The experimental group’s post-test score significantly increased to 82.50 (from 56.56), yielding an N-Gain of 60.33% (Moderately Effective). Conversely, the control group only achieved an N-Gain of 24.18% (Ineffective). These findings demonstrate that the tactile resistance of playdough provides superior stimulation for the hand’s intrinsic muscles compared to traditional methods. Consequently, early childhood educators should integrate structured playdough activities into the core curriculum rather than treating them as elective play. Future research should implement longitudinal tracking to determine the long-term impact of these motor gains on formal writing readiness.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the process of fine motor development in early childhood through the “Dancing on Paper” intervention, focusing on how participation in the activity supports the development of fine motor skills within an early childhood education setting. Employing a qualitative single-case study design, this research examines changes in children’s physical dexterity and coordination through a structured multi-day artistic intervention. Data were collected from five selected participants to observe key indicators of fine motor skills, including finger muscle strength, hand–eye coordination, and movement flexibility. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that participation in finger painting activities enhances children’s ability to control fine muscle movements and supports their readiness for subsequent academic tasks, such as writing. The findings suggest that the sensory-rich characteristics of the “Dancing on Paper” activity provide effective stimulation for early childhood fine motor development. This study contributes to early childhood education practices by highlighting creative arts activities as an effective pedagogical strategy for supporting children’s physical development.
