Abstract

Abstract The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has had a significant impact on the field of education, particularly in supporting students’ independent learning processes. In this digital era, Senior High School students in Banjarbaru City have begun to utilize AI-based tools, such as ChatGPT and Canva, to assist them in completing assignments and understanding material more efficiently and flexibly. In using AI, students' communication skills play a crucial role in determining the effectiveness of their interactions with the technology, especially in delivering accurate commands or prompts. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method to examine the influence of students’ communication when using AI on their independent learning processes. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with hypothesis testing (t-test), supported by SPSS version 26. Findings revealed that the t-count was 9.455, with a regression coefficient (β) of 0.221 and a significance level (ρ) of 0.00. These results indicate that the independent learning process variable had a significance value of 0.00 < 0.05, meaning that the independent variable (students’ communication using AI) significantly influenced the dependent variable (independent learning process). The communication variable showed a moderate significant influence of 19.5% on the independent learning process of Senior High School students in Banjarbaru City, as indicated by the R Square value of 0.195. The remaining 80.5% is influenced by other variables not included in this study. Overall, the hypothesis testing confirmed that students’ communication when using AI has a moderate significant effect on their independent learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the communication identity formed within the casual fashion entrepreneur community in West Java and its contribution to building personal branding. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with casual fashion entrepreneurs who are part of local creative communities. The primary theory used is the Communication Theory of Identity (CTI) by Michael Hecht, alongside the concept of personal branding from David Aaker, which encompasses five dimensions of individual brand character. The results show that the four layers of CTI (personal, enacted, relational, and communal) emerge simultaneously and intertwine in the entrepreneurs' communication processes. The findings also indicate that authenticity, consistency, emotional engagement, and community collaboration are the key strengths in forming a credible and impactful self-image. Through the exploration of each identity layer, this study confirms that communication is a central element in the formation of personal branding. Personal identity is manifested through a relaxed yet professional demeanor; enacted identity is evident in warm interactions and openness; relational identity is formed by maintaining personal character while adapting to social relationships; and communal identity is demonstrated through collaboration, product representation, and active participation in the community. These findings expand the understanding that personal identity is not only formed individually but also collectively through consistent communication practices within the business community. This study enriches the literature on communication identity in the context of the creative industry and provides a foundation for developing community-based personal branding strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of digitalization implementation on employee performance moderated by employee engagement in the General Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of North Sumatra Province (Setdaprovsu). The North Sumatra Provincial Government, particularly in the General Bureau of the Setdaprovsu, has begun implementing a digital-based work system. This is done to be in line with the central government and other provinces that have already used digital technology. Digitalization is expected to make work faster, more efficient, and improve employee performance. However, some older employees find it difficult to use modern technology. A lack of understanding of digital systems makes it difficult for them to adapt. Therefore, it is important to determine whether the implementation of digitalization truly has an impact on employee performance, and whether employee engagement in their work can help in facing this challenge. This research method uses a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 76 employees of the General Bureau of the Setdaprovsu as respondents online using Google-form. Then the data obtained will be converted into numbers with a Likert Scale which aims to find the effect of the independent variables on the dependent variable and intervening variables, then processed using the Smart-PLS (Partial Least Squares) Statistics application. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the implementation of digitalization has a positive impact on employee performance. This indicates that the higher the level of digital technology utilization in the workplace, the greater the effectiveness and efficiency of employee performance. Furthermore, employee engagement has been shown to positively moderate the relationship between digitalization and employee performance. Therefore, the influence of digitalization on performance will be stronger if employees are highly engaged with their work.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of compensation and training on work motivation with individual characteristics as moderating variables at PT PLN (Persero) UP3 Pematang Siantar. Work motivation is an important aspect in improving employee performance and organizational effectiveness, where compensation and training are seen as two main factors influencing it. Individual characteristics such as age, education, and work experience are assumed to strengthen or weaken the relationship. The research method used is quantitative with the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach to test the structural model. The research sample was 93 respondents who were employees in the customer service unit. The research instrument has met the validity and reliability tests, with outer loadings values above 0.70 and composite reliability above 0.90. The results show that compensation, training, and individual characteristics have a positive and significant effect on work motivation. However, individual characteristics do not play a significant role as moderating variables in strengthening the effect of compensation and training on work motivation. The R² value of 0.733 indicates that 73.3% of the variation in work motivation can be explained by this research model. These findings indicate that the management of PT PLN (Persero) UP3 Pematang Siantar needs to pay attention to providing quality compensation and training as a strategy to increase work motivation, even though individual characteristics do not significantly strengthen the relationship.

Abstract

Fashion has become one of the emerging industries in Indonesia with the increasing purchasing power of the society, social media exposure, and globalization, which drives the society to make it a means of self-expression and lifestyle manifestation. Amid fast-fashion trends, thrift fashion appears as an alternative for sustainable and affordable clothing consumption and grows popular, especially among young groups. Although the ban on the import of second-hand clothing has been imposed, the thrift shop phenomenon continues to grow in many different cities, including Padang. This research analyzes the influence of lifestyle, perceived price, and product quality on consumer purchase decisions at thrift shops in Padang. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was invoked. Data were collected through an online-based questionnaire with a 1-5 Likert scale distributed to 320 respondents, who were selected using the purposive sampling technique. The respondent criterion was consumers who previously purchased thrift products. Data analysis was carried out using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique with SmartPLS version 4.0 software. Results demonstrated that lifestyle, price, and product quality significantly and positively affected purchase decisions at thrift shops, confirming that thrift fashion consumptions were impacted by not only economic considerations but also lifestyle preferences and perceived quality, particularly among young groups, who were considered the latest trend-sensitive.
