Abstract

Reproductive health knowledge is essential for maternal wellbeing, family planning, and public health. This study aimed to describe mothers’ knowledge of reproductive health in Bulupoddo, Sinjai. A descriptive survey design was employed, involving mothers of reproductive age as study participants. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire covering key aspects of reproductive health, including anatomy and physiology, reproductive hygiene, family planning, and prevention of reproductive health problems. Descriptive statistical analysis was applied to summarize respondents’ knowledge levels. The results showed that mothers’ knowledge of reproductive health was generally very low. In most assessed domains, the proportion of correct responses was below 50%, indicating insufficient understanding of basic reproductive health concepts. Limited knowledge was particularly evident in areas related to reproductive function, risk factors for reproductive health disorders, and appropriate preventive practices. These findings suggest that the majority of respondents had not received adequate or effective reproductive health information. In conclusion, mothers’ knowledge of reproductive health in Bulupoddo, Sinjai remains inadequate and falls below an acceptable level. This condition highlights the urgent need for comprehensive and culturally appropriate reproductive health education programs. Strengthening health promotion and community-based education, particularly through primary health care services, is essential to improve mothers’ knowledge and support better reproductive health outcomes.

Abstract

Background: This Study aimed to evaluate the effect of educational video interventions on improving pregnant women's knowledge regerding exclusive breastfeeding using two comparison groups. although digital learning media have become widely implemented in maternal health promotion, passive video delivery often limits comprehension and learning retention. intergrating interaction within digital education may enhance understanding by enabling clarification and strengthening information processing. A quasi- xperimental pretest-posttest design was conducted involving 34 pregnant women divided into two groups: an intervantion group receiving educational video with interactive discussion (n=17) and a comparison group receiving the same video without interaction (n=17). knowlegde was measured before and after the intervention and analyzed using the wilcoxon signed rank test and Mann- whitney U test. result showed that both groups experienced increases in posttest knowledge scores; however, improvement was greater in the interaction group. The Wilcoxon analysis demonstrated significant knowledge gains in the interactive group ( Z =-3.643 ; p = 0.000). Meanwhile, Mann-Whitney analysis indicated that the knowledge improvement between the two groups was significantly different, favoring the interaction approach. These findings demonstrate thet educational videos accompanied by interaction are more effective in improving maternal knowledge compared to passive video delivery. Strengthening interaction-based digital health education is recommended to support maternal and child health programs.

Abstract

Background: The rapid advancement of digital technology has increased toddlers exposure to gadget, making them an integral part of daily life. While gadgets may offer educational benefits when used appropriately, excessive and unsupervised use can negatively affect children’s physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional development. Mothers, as primary caregivers, play a crucial role in regulating toddlers’ gadget use, guided by their perceptions and parenting practices. Methods: This study employed a qualitative descriptive phenomenological design to explore mothers’ perceptions of gadget use among toddlers in the working area of Banjarbaru Selatan Public Health Center. Twelve mothers with toddlers were selected using purposive sampling until data saturation was achieved. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi’s method, including familiarization with transcripts, identification of significant statements, formulation of meanings, theme clustering, comprehensive description, and participant validation to ensure trustworthiness. Result:Five main themes emerged: mothers’ responses to gadget use, reasons for providing gadgets, duration of gadget use, perceived impacts of gadget use, and strategies to divert children from gadgets. Mothers perceived gadgets both as helpful tools for calming and entertaining children and as potential sources of developmental risks. Gadget use was often driven by situational needs, such as parental busyness or limited caregiving support. Prolonged use was associated with behavioral changes, emotional dysregulation, and delayed language development, particularly when parental supervision was limited. Conversely, active parental involvement, content selection, and time regulation were perceived as protective factors. Mothers also reported various diversion strategies, including interactive play, outdoor activities, and the provision of alternative toys. Conclusion: Gadget use among toddlers is increasingly unavoidable; however, its impact largely depends on maternal perceptions, supervision, and regulation practices. Strengthening mothers’ awareness and caregiving strategies is essential to minimize negative effects and promote optimal toddler development.

Abstract

Background:Work-related stress among inpatient nurses represents a significant occupational health concern that adversely affects psychological well-being, job performance, and quality of patient care. Despite increasing evidence supporting mindfulness-based interventions, their integration within a nursing theoretical framework remains limited. This study aimed to examine the effect of mindfulness therapy grounded in the Roy Adaptation Model on work-related stress among inpatient nurses in a private hospital in Semarang, Indonesia Methods: A quasi-experimental two-group pretest–posttest design was employed. Sixty nurses were recruited using purposive sampling and assigned to an intervention group (n = 30) and a control group (n = 30). Result: Work-related stress was measured using the Job Stress Scale, which demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.965). Higher scores indicated lower levels of stress. The intervention group received mindfulness therapy three times per week for two weeks. The mean stress score in the intervention group increased significantly from 51.87 ± 2.97 at baseline to 78.87 ± 2.98 after the intervention (p < 0.001), indicating a substantial reduction in stress levels, with a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 28.51). No significant change was observed in the control group (p = 0.161). Conclusion: These findings indicate that mindfulness therapy based on the Roy Adaptation Model effectively enhances adaptive coping mechanisms and significantly reduces work-related stress among inpatient nurses.

Abstract

Background: Banking employees are commonly exposed to hidden ergonomic hazards resulting from prolonged sitting, repetitive movements, and extensive computer use. These exposures contribute to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and visual fatigue, posing risks to occupational health and productivity. Methods: A community-based intervention was conducted on 4 October 2025 at Bank in Makassar City, involving 20 participants. An andragogical training model was implemented through lectures, discussions, risk identification sessions, and hands-on demonstrations on workstation adjustment and micro-break techniques. Ergonomic complaints were qualitatively identified, and risk factors were mapped based on established ergonomic frameworks. Participants reported prevalent ergonomic-related symptoms, especially low back pain, neck–shoulder discomfort, and visual fatigue. Identified risk factors included static sitting postures, repetitive hand wrist movements, and suboptimal workstation design. The training improved participants' understanding of ergonomic risk factors and introduced practical OSH-based strategies, including workstation redesign, micro-break application, and posture correction. Result: These results align with global evidence on high MSDs prevalence among office and banking workers. Banking employees are at considerable risk of MSDs and visual strain due to prolonged computer use and poor workstation ergonomics. Conclusion: OSH-based ergonomic interventions, particularly engineering and administrative controls, are essential for reducing exposure and protecting worker health. Strengthened management commitment and ongoing ergonomic training are key to sustaining safe, productive banking environments.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents who experience interpersonal trauma, like bullying, family conflict, emotional neglect, or betrayal in a relationship, are at a higher risk for mental health problems, especially social anxiety and low self-esteem. A lot of research has been done on the effects of trauma, but not much has been done on how teens use spiritual coping as a way to make sense of what happened to them after trauma. Methods: This study utilized a qualitative transcendental phenomenological framework, employing Moustakas’ methodology to investigate adolescents lived experiences of interpersonal trauma and spiritual coping. We did in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 15 teens who had been through trauma in their relationships. The data underwent analysis via epoche, horizontalization, clustering of meaning units, and the formulation of textural and structural descriptions, resulting in a fundamental synthesis of the phenomenon. Results: The analysis showed that there are some things that don't change about experience, such as a broken sense of relational safety, internalized self-blame and silence, emotional withdrawal from social relationships, and increased social anxiety. Spiritual coping became a key experiential resource, providing a private and nonjudgmental space that helped people manage their emotions, think about themselves, and rebuild their confidence. Spiritual practices helped people look at traumatic events in a new way, feel better about themselves, and get their mental health back on track. Discussion: These results show that spiritual coping is more about finding meaning than just being religious. This makes spirituality an important psychological tool for teens who are recovering from trauma. The results add to trauma and coping theories by showing how spirituality can help teens rebuild their sense of self and become more emotionally strong. Conclusion: This study emphasizes the necessity of incorporating spiritual dimensions into trauma-informed psychological and mental health interventions for adolescents, providing phenomenological insights that can guide culturally and contextually appropriate support strategies.

Abstract

Background: Smoking constitutes a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases and remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia. This study analyzes determinants of smoking status based on sociodemographic and behavioral characteristics from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design utilizing secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survei. A total sampling technique was applied, initially including 877,531 respondents. After excluding individuals with missing data or those who did not respond to the cigarette variable (166,246), the final sample comprised 711,285 participants. Bivariate analyses and multivariate logistic regression identified dominant factors associated with smoking status. Result: Smoking prevalence was 25.49% (181,278), while non-smoking was 74.51% (530,007). Multivariate analysis showed gender as the strongest predictor, with men having much higher odds of smoking than women (OR = 96.95; p < 0.001). Other significant factors were rural residence (OR = 1.133; p < 0.001), marital status (OR = 0.676; p < 0.001), low education (OR = 0.463; p < 0.001), employment status (OR = 1.133; p < 0.001), non-BPJS health insurance (OR = 0.884; p < 0.001), occasional exposure to other smokers (OR = 4.130; p < 0.001), and alcohol use (OR = 3.314; p < 0.001). The model showed strong explanatory power (Pseudo R² = 0.485). Conclusion: Tobacco control strategies should be integrated with screening and counseling for risky behaviors, including alcohol consumption. Additionally, smoking cessation services should be adapted and expanded to address both rural and urban contexts.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting remains a significant global public health challenge, affecting over 148 million children worldwide and resulting in long-term impairments in cognitive development, immunity, and future productivity. Although nutrition-specific interventions have been extensively implemented, the influence of parenting behaviors on recovery among children with a history of stunting has not been comprehensively synthesized. This scoping review examines how responsive parenting, grounded in evidence-based practice, affects nutritional outcomes and developmental recovery in children with a history of stunting. Methods: The review adhered to PRISMA-ScR guidelines and employed the Population–Concept–Context (PCC) framework. A systematic search was performed across PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar for studies published between 2020 and 2025. Eligible articles, written in English or Indonesian, investigated responsive parenting, caregiving behaviors, or evidence-based parenting interventions related to nutritional outcomes. Twenty-seven studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using narrative and thematic synthesis. Result: The results demonstrate that responsive parenting, characterized by sensitive, timely, and developmentally appropriate caregiving, is consistently associated with improved feeding practices, enhanced dietary adequacy, and superior indicators of child growth. Evidence-based parenting interventions that incorporate caregiver coaching, home-based monitoring, and parental empowerment are more effective than standard counseling approaches. Conclusion Furthermore, responsive caregiving contributed to better appetite regulation, reduced feeding difficulties, and increased psychosocial stimulation, collectively supporting catch-up growth in children affected by stunting. These findings underscore the need to integrate responsive parenting strategies into nutrition and stunting-reduction programs to enhance children's nutritional recovery and developmental outcomes

Abstract

Background: Integrated primary care (IPC) is recognized as essential for strengthening health systems. However, Indonesia currently lacks a validated instrument to assess stakeholder support, which is a critical determinant of successful IPC implementation. This study evaluated the content validity, internal structure, and reliability of the newly developed Stakeholder Support Questionnaire for Integrated Primary Care (SSQ-IPC), grounded in Freeman’s Stakeholder Theory. Methods: A cross-sectional psychometric validation was conducted with 570 primary healthcare nurses recruited through stratified random sampling across Indonesia. The initial 18-item instrument, encompassing four constructs, underwent content validation by a panel of seven experts. Data analysis included calculating the Content Validity Index (CVI), conducting exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and second-order CFA. Model fit was assessed using multiple fit indices, while construct validity and reliability were evaluated through factor loadings, Average Variance Extracted (AVE), Cronbach’s alpha, and McDonald’s omega. Results: EFA supported a four-factor structure. First-order CFA indicated acceptable model fit (CFI = 0.933, TLI = 0.921, SRMR = 0.037), with all factor loadings statistically significant (p<.001) and strong indicator reliability. Convergent validity was established with AVE values ranging from 0.650 to 0.869, and internal consistency was high across constructs (α= 0.877–0.978; ω = 0.884–0.973). Second-order CFA supported a hierarchical model, with all four constructs significantly loading onto a higher-order factor. Conclusion: The SSQ-IPC demonstrates strong evidence of validity and reliability, supporting its multidimensional and hierarchical structure. This instrument provides a robust tool for research and practice, facilitating.

Abstract

Background: The musculoskeletal system plays a crucial role in movement and balance, which are coordinated with the nervous system. Therefore, muscle strength has both physiological and clinical implications. Furthermore, the musculoskeletal system, including muscles, undergoes developmental stages with age. Consequently, significant differences in the musculoskeletal system between children and adults are evident. This affects differences in muscle strength measurements, particularly those related to the tools used, which, in turn, influence anthropometric measurements. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design involving 70 child respondents aged 6–12 years to evaluate the extent to which the developed tool produces consistent measurements of left and right hands through bilateral correlation, using a simple hand muscle strength measurement tool that can be effectively used in the pediatric population. Evaluation measurement uses the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). Result: The reliability test using the ICC with a two-way mixed model and absolute agreement type showed that measurements at the 7 cm position demonstrated good reliability, with a single-measure ICC of 0.774 and an average-measure ICC of 0.872.2. The measurements at the 8 cm position demonstrated higher reliability, with a single-measure ICC of 0.870 (95% CI: 0.797–0.918), which is considered good, and an average-measure ICC of 0.931 (95% CI: 0.887–0.957), which is considered very good. Furthermore, the Cronbach's Alpha value for the 8 cm measurement (0.933) was also higher than for the 7 cm measurement (0.879). Conclusion: This research concludes that measuring hand muscle strength at the 8 cm position demonstrates greater consistency and reliability than at the 7 cm position, and is therefore recommended for use as a measurement method in research and clinical practice.
