Tourism villages have become a vital strategy for rural economic development in Indonesia, yet many face significant management challenges that impede sustainable growth. This study examines the readiness of tourism management in Napal Jungur Tourism Village, Seluma Regency, employing a descriptive qualitative approach using Terry's management theory to analyze five key dimensions: self-audit, survey, objective, action, and communication. Data were collected through direct observation, semi-structured interviews with 25 key informants, focus group discussions, and document analysis, followed by SWOT analysis. The findings reveal an uneven readiness profile across management dimensions, with the SWOT coordinate analysis positioning Napal Jungur in Quadrant I (0.80, 0.69), indicating positive growth potential. Natural environment, active youth participation, and village government support represent significant strengths, while weaknesses include limited dining facilities, weak marketing, inadequate maintenance systems, and underdeveloped management expertise. This study investigates the pedagogical value of a discourse-based approach in teaching Business English within an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) context. It focuses on how this approach enhances learners’ acquisition, contextual use, and retention of business-related vocabulary, while also fostering greater communicative competence. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining both descriptive and experimental techniques to collect and analyze data. The participants were Master 1 Business English students who underwent a 12-week instructional program integrating discourse analysis principles and authentic materials. Findings indicate that students exposed to the discourse-based methodology outperformed those taught using traditional methods, particularly in their ability to understand and apply business vocabulary in real-world communicative settings. Moreover, learners reported increased confidence and fluency in using business language appropriately across intercultural and professional contexts. These results highlight the discourse-based approach as a promising strategy for developing both linguistic and pragmatic competencies, recommending its broader adoption in Business English instruction.

Abstract

The research, "Case Study Analysis of Substance Abuse in Schools within Critical Social Work Practice," examines the complexity of substance abuse among students within a social work framework. It highlights how social, economic, and psychological factors contribute to students’ substance use, especially for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Through Alex’s case, the study illustrates how family instability and socio-economic hardships can lead to substance abuse as a coping mechanism. The paper advocates a critical social work approach, grounded in Marxist theory, humanism, and critical thinking, to address systemic issues influencing substance use. This approach emphasizes a shift from punitive measures to supportive interventions within schools and communities, including collaboration with families and policy advocacy. By focusing on socio-economic determinants and the need for structural change, the study provides a framework for creating supportive educational environments that address the root causes of substance use and promote positive behavioral change among students.
