Abstract

This research aims to determine the mathematical concept comprehension abilities of MTs students on spatial building material based on ethnomathematics in terms of cognitive styles. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects were selected based on the results of cognitive style questionnaires, namely Field Independent (FI) and Field Dependent (FD). Data collection was conducted through cognitive style questionnaires, concept comprehension tests consisting of six items, and in-depth interviews. Data analysis techniques used include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that: (1) students with a Field Independent cognitive style are able to meet four indicators of mathematical concept understanding, namely restating a concept, classifying elements based on their properties, providing examples and non-examples, and applying concepts in problem-solving; (2) students with a Field Dependent cognitive style can only meet two indicators, namely restating concepts and classifying elements based on their properties. These findings indicate a difference in understanding mathematical concepts based on students' cognitive styles.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low cognitive achievement of students in mathematics, particularly in division, with 61.90% of students not meeting the Minimum Mastery Criteria. The study aims to improve the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students in understanding whole number division through the use of a concrete teaching medium, the counting box. This classroom action research was carried out in two cycles at SD Negeri Mangkubumi, Tasikmalaya, involving 21 students. Data were collected through observations and written tests. The research followed the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The results showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 65.71 in the pre-cycle to 88.81 in the first cycle and 93.10 in the second cycle. The use of the counting box media enhanced students’ understanding through concrete and visual learning experiences, which led to greater engagement and improved mastery of concepts. These findings indicate that concrete media such as the counting box can be effectively used in primary mathematics instruction to support students’ achievement in basic arithmetic operations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of digital technology in improving students' motivation and learning achievement in social studies subjects at primary schools in Indonesia. Using a mixed methods approach, this study analyzed secondary data from 15 primary schools with a total of 115 students. The results of the analysis showed an increase in student motivation scores from 2.3 to 3.1, as well as an increase in academic scores from 67.8 to 79.3 after the implementation of digital tools in learning. Based on the SAMR and TPACK frameworks, the majority of schools are still at the Substitution and Augmentation stages. The use of apps such as Canva, Kahoot and Google Earth proved effective in increasing students' engagement and understanding of the material. In addition, the increase in learning motivation can be explained through the ARCS model that emphasizes aspects of attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction. Therefore, this study recommends a phased implementation strategy, continuous teacher training, curriculum flexibility, as well as the development of an assessment system that supports inclusive and sustainable digital learning.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the extent to which learning motivation affects academic achievement in basic statistics courses. This research employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory correlational design. This design is used to test the effect of the independent variable, namely learning motivation, on the dependent variable, which is the academic results of students in basic statistics courses. The research population consists of third-semester students from the Computer Engineering Study Program at Indraprasta PGRI University, and 65 respondents were purposively selected from three existing classes. The instrument used was a Likert-scale questionnaire and final course grade data. Data processing resulted in a coefficient of determination R Square of 0.150 with a significance value of 0.021 (p < 0.05). The findings indicate that learning motivation contributes about 15 percent to students' academic results. In other words, motivation is proven to be important, but it is not the sole determining factor. The implications of this research encourage educators to design strategies that can enhance student motivation, especially in quantitative and analytical learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality gap in Islamic education in Indonesia, particularly in terms of curriculum, access to education, and the utilization of technology. It employs a library research method by reviewing academic literature sourced from reputable national and international journals, scholarly books, and research reports from relevant educational institutions, accessed through databases such as Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Garuda. The data analysis technique used is qualitative content analysis, involving the grouping, categorization, and synthesis of various findings from the literature to formulate a theoretical understanding of contemporary issues in Islamic education. The findings reveal that Islamic education curricula remain overly theoretical and lack integration with practical skills relevant to the labor market, resulting in graduates who struggle to compete in the workforce. Additionally, disparities in access to education between urban and rural areas are evident, driven by differences in infrastructure, distribution of qualified educators, and access to educational technology. The limited innovation in utilizing technology within Islamic educational institutions further hinders the effectiveness of learning and the readiness of graduates to face the demands of Industry 4.0. The novelty of this research lies in its identification of strategic solutions such as skill-based curriculum reform, equitable access to education, and optimal use of digital technology to enhance the competitiveness of Islamic education graduates.
