Abstract

The complicated nature of this various technique limits jewellers and metalsmiths in the kind of design and size of works that they normally produce, which is mainly jewellery and jewellery- scaled items. This is as a result of artisan’s inability to introducing modern production methods and design in their practice as well as lack of improving the aesthetic appeal of products by incorporating jewellery forming techniques in a metal sculpture mural. Various jewellery forming techniques were reviewed; further reviews were also conducted on landmarks in KNUST that can be incorporated in the metal sculpture mural to enhance their beauty. A qualitative research approach was employed making use of descriptive and studio-based research designs for the study. Observations were the tool used in gathering data. The results of this study indicate that by selecting the appropriate materials and workshop practices, it is possible to produce murals using the jewellery forming techniques irrespective of the design and size of the object. It is therefore recommended that jewellers, sculptors or metalsmiths in general are to establish and to combine other jewellery or metalsmithing techniques (such as granulation, welding, casting, electroforming, etc.) to produce artefacts other than jewellery-scale items.

Abstract

The powerful presence and physicality of wood has changed over time with contemporary art practices. Woodworking techniques have evolved, which has led to the expansion of its expected limits. This change and rethinking, process, forms and materiality creates a very interesting conversation. The aim of the study employed assembling of wood off cuts by using connectivity as a technique in place of carving and other methods, generating a flexible sculptural form being able to take different display experiences. Studio-based research under qualitative research design was adopted for the study. The research instruments used were observation and photographs. This expository experience in the study was used to question the dialogue of society's experiences of power. The study displays an examination of structure, convention and circumstances of power in the dialogue form depicted in the assemblage of wood pieces as an experience.

Abstract

Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) has been designated as a global pandemic since March 11, 2020, by the World Health Organization (WHO). COVID-19 is a national disaster in the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 2020 concerning the determination of non-global disasters related to the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The massive transmission of COVID-19, designated as a global pandemic, has impacted various strategic sectors, including the international and national economic sectors. Therefore, this study examines the legal politics of the increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) rates in the recovery of the national economy affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic. The research uses normative juridical descriptive, statutory, and conceptual approaches from primary and secondary legal sources. The results of this study indicate that the legal politics of increasing Value Added Tax (VAT) rates is an inappropriate and risky national economic recovery strategy because it can cause inflation in a national economy that has not fully recovered. In the context of national economic recovery, efforts to suppress state spending are more efficient than increasing Value Added Tax (VAT), which is prone to risk.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of power interactions between local governments and non-state actors in a specific context. The research focuses on the relationships between local governments and non-state actors, such as civil society organizations, private companies, and community groups, to understand how these interactions shape local governance and policy outcomes. The case study is based on empirical research conducted in a selected city, where data was collected through interviews, surveys, and observations. The findings of the study reveal that power dynamics between local governments and non-state actors are complex and multifaceted. Local governments often rely on non-state actors for resources, expertise, and legitimacy, while non-state actors seek to influence policy decisions and access resources. The study highlights the importance of understanding these interactions to better comprehend the dynamics of local governance and policy outcomes. The research contributes to the existing literature on local governance and power dynamics by providing a nuanced understanding of the interactions between local governments and non-state actors. The findings have implications for policy makers, practitioners, and researchers seeking to improve local governance and policy outcomes.
