Abstract

Grocery stores (toko kelontong) are common micro-enterprises in Madura, often managed by individuals or families with limited capital. In this context, the implementation of the mudharabah contract as a profit-sharing system can serve as a solution to increase the store owners’ income. Through the mudharabah contract, capital owners (shahibul mal) and managers (mudharib) collaborate by sharing both risks and profits from the business. This study aims to examine how the mudharabah contract can be implemented in the profit-sharing system of Madura’s grocery stores. The research explores the impact of this system on increasing income, while also identifying challenges and opportunities faced by business owners. A qualitative approach was used, employing in-depth interviews with grocery store owners, investors, and other relevant parties. The agreed profit-sharing ratio is 50-50 between the capital owner and the manager. Challenges include competition among stores, dishonesty among managers, and unstable income, while supporting factors include mutual benefits for both parties and satisfactory earnings. The profit-sharing system in Madura's grocery business involves the mudharib running the store, while the shahibul mal entrusts the business to the mudharib. The profit-sharing is calculated based on the store's profit, minus operating expenses such as purchase costs, rent, electricity, waste management, and damages.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of zakat as a catalyst for improving economic independence in the community through management strategies implemented by the Zakat, Infaq, Shadaqah, and Waqf Management Institution (LAZISKAF) at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the study employs a case study method, where data is gathered through in-depth interviews with zakat managers and beneficiaries, direct observation, and literature studies from relevant sources. Thematic analysis techniques are applied to identify zakat management patterns, assess the effectiveness of distribution, and evaluate its impact on the welfare of the mustahik. The findings show that LAZISKAF’s zakat management strategies, including accurate identification of mustahik, needs-based distribution, and the integration of technology in recording and fund distribution, play a significant role in enhancing the economic independence of beneficiaries. Economic empowerment programs and business capital assistance have proven to support mustahik in transitioning toward better economic independence. Furthermore, the implementation of a rotating zakat distribution system helps expand the reach of aid and increases the overall program’s effectiveness. Therefore, zakat plays a strategic role as an Islamic economic instrument, not only as social assistance but also as a tool for sustainable economic empowerment. Optimizing zakat management through transparency, accountability, and technological innovation is crucial for maximizing its impact on community welfare. Collaboration among stakeholders, including the government and society, is essential to strengthen a professional zakat management system focused on independence.

Abstract

This study explores how cyberculture, or digital culture formed through the use of the internet and modern technology, influences religious traditions. In this digital age, religious traditions are not only striving to survive but also evolving through adaptation and transformation. Cyberculture offers new ways for individuals to interact with their beliefs, such as through online worship and theological discussions on social media. This enables the dissemination of religious information in a more widespread and inclusive manner. However, these changes also present challenges, including those related to traditional authority and the authenticity of spiritual experiences. This study highlights the importance of balancing technological progress with preserving the essence and fundamental values of religious traditions. Thus, this research aims to provide insights into how religion can remain relevant and meaningful while supporting communities in the digital age.

Abstract

The granting of Land Cultivation Rights (HGU) for up to 190 years in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), as stipulated in Government Regulation No. 12 of 2023, raises fundamental legal and economic concerns. This policy is considered to deviate from the fundamental principles of the Basic Agrarian Law (UUPA), particularly regarding the social function of land, state control, and equitable access to agrarian resources. This study applies a normative juridical method with statutory, conceptual, and historical approaches, supported by qualitative-prescriptive analysis. It examines key legal frameworks including the UUPA, the IKN Law, the Investment Law, and their implementing regulations. The analysis is guided by the Theory of Justice (John Rawls), Economic Analysis of Law (Richard Posner), legal certainty, and statutory hierarchy principles. Findings reveal that the long-term HGU scheme risks undermining legal certainty, promoting land monopolization by private investors, and marginalizing local communities. Economically, the absence of periodic evaluation mechanisms may lead to inefficient land use and hinder inclusive, sustainable development. The study concludes that the HGU policy in IKN requires regulatory revision to ensure alignment with agrarian justice, legal predictability, and long-term national economic goals.

Abstract

The disparity in tourism development in Badung Regency, particularly between the southern and northern regions, highlights the urgency for sustainable and inclusive rural tourism development strategies. This study aims to analyze the potential, challenges, and development strategies of Sangeh Tourism Village as a model of sustainable cultural tourism. A qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), participatory observation, and document analysis with tourism village managers, local communities, MSME actors, and tourists. The research instruments were designed to explore aspects such as tourist attractions, community capacity, supporting infrastructure, and institutional governance. The analysis was carried out using the 4A framework (Attraction, Amenity, Accessibility, Ancillary) and SWOT analysis to formulate appropriate development strategies. The findings indicate that Sangeh Village has high potential in ecotourism and cultural tourism, but faces several challenges related to governance, information facilities, and digital literacy. The proposed strategies include optimizing digital promotion, strengthening the role of village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), developing thematic tourism packages, and increasing community involvement in destination management. The tourism village development model is grounded in sustainability principles that integrate environmental conservation, local economic empowerment, and cultural preservation as efforts to build a competitive and inclusive tourism village.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of the home-based kerupuk rambak industry in Trusmi Wetan Village, Cirebon, as a source of household income and its impact on improving the living standards of the local community. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation of business activities for data collection. Data analysis was conducted interactively through data reduction, presentation, and verification to derive valid conclusions. The findings indicate that this home industry significantly contributes to family income and enhances community welfare. The utilization of animal skin waste in kerupuk rambak production exemplifies a micro-scale circular economy practice that is productive and sustainable. However, the process still generates by-products such as animal hair from skin scraping, which requires further management. These results highlight the potential for developing waste-based enterprises to strengthen local economies and improve quality of life.

Abstract

The ASEAN University Network (AUN) is a collaborative platform for higher education institutions in Southeast Asia, aimed at enhancing the quality of human resources through educational institutions by fostering collaboration among universities within the ASEAN region. This study seeks to analyze the role of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) as an actor in promoting the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 among AUN Core Member universities, through a series of thematic programs designed by the AUN. SDG 4, which emphasizes quality education, is a key priority of sustainable development that necessitates cross-national collaboration. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through literature reviews and document analysis of AUN policy materials. The findings reveal that the AUN has launched thematic programs that actively contribute to achieving the targets of SDG 4. The study identifies a strong alignment between AUN's thematic initiatives and SDG targets 4.3 through 4.B, both in terms of conceptual understanding and practical implementation. These are realized through efforts such as strengthening quality assurance mechanisms, preparing the ASEAN youth, and addressing disparities in educational access. This research underscores the significance of AUN as a vital intermediary in higher education, playing a strategic role in advancing the achievement of SDG 4 in the ASEAN region.
