Abstract

This study is driven by the need to improve healthcare service quality to achieve patient satisfaction and compliance, particularly in medical rehabilitation, which plays a key role in restoring function for patients with chronic illnesses, disabilities, or injuries. Service quality includes promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative aspects as mandated by Law No. 44/2009. Previous studies show that the SERVQUAL dimensions strongly influence satisfaction and patient behavior. At Kepulauan Meranti Regional Hospital, low patient compliance and declining outpatient visits remain major issues, worsened by limited rehabilitation facilities. Using a quantitative method with an associative and cross-sectional design, this study examined the effect of service quality and accessibility on patient satisfaction and adherence. The results indicated that service quality had a significant positive effect on satisfaction, while accessibility did not. Satisfaction significantly influenced adherence and acted as an intervening variable. Overall, the model explained only 25.7% of the variation in patient adherence.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of religiosity, penalties, and Islamic financial literacy on customer compliance in fulfilling financing obligations, with collection activities as an intervening variable at the Sharia Business Unit (UUS) of Bank Sumut in Sibolga City. The study is motivated by the persistent issue of delayed payments and non-compliance, despite relatively high levels of religiosity and the increasing trend of Islamic financial literacy among customers. A quantitative approach was employed, with primary data collected through questionnaires distributed to 93 respondents selected using accidental sampling. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression and path analysis (SmartPLS 4.0) to identify direct and indirect effects among variables. The results reveal that religiosity, penalties, and Islamic financial literacy significantly and positively affect collection activities, and jointly influence customer compliance. Partially, religiosity and Islamic financial literacy have a significant positive effect on compliance, whereas penalties demonstrate a positive yet reactive effect, functioning mainly as a deterrent mechanism. Furthermore, collection activities mediate the relationship between the independent variables and compliance, indicating that effective collection procedures strengthen the influence of religious values, penalty perceptions, and financial knowledge on customer behavior. These findings suggest that customer compliance in Islamic banking is not solely shaped by religious conviction and knowledge, but also by operational interventions conducted in a professional, educative, and persuasive manner. The study offers both theoretical contributions to Islamic financial behavior literature and practical implications, emphasizing the need to enhance Islamic financial literacy programs, refine socially oriented penalty mechanisms, and optimize collection strategies to promote disciplined and value-based compliance.

Abstract

This study analyzes unfair business competition practices in the telecommunications sector in Indonesia, which analyzes in more depth the case study of blocking carried out by PT Telekomunikasi Selular and PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia under the auspices of the Telkom Group against the Over The Top (OTT) service Netflix. The author uses a normative method with a case and legislative approach, this study found that the unilateral blocking carried out by the Telkom Group has fulfilled the elements of discrimination regulated in Article 19 letter (d) of Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning the Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition because the Telkom Group only blocked Netflix, while other OTT services that have done the same thing were not subjected to the same blocking, in this case the Telkom Group's policy as a dominant business actor in the telecommunications sector also has a negative impact on consumer internet access. However, despite the discovery of discriminatory acts that are strong indications, the KPPU decision in Case No. 08 / KPPU-I / 2020 stated that the Telkom Group was not indicated in unfair business competition practices, this indicates a legal weakness. This legal weakness is caused by the non-implementation of the Network Neutrality principle in regulations governing the flow of telecommunications services and the limitations of business competition test indicators that cannot analyze the long-term impact (Network Effects) in the digital telecommunications market. Therefore, this study concludes that regulators must harmonize by improving regulations on cooperation between telecommunications services and OTT services through fair and transparent Business to Business principles, as well as adding long-term impact (Network Effects) test criteria to the KPPU Commission Regulation to ensure healthy competition in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of work stress and work discipline on employee performance with work motivation as a mediating variable in Search and Rescue Office employees in West Sumatra. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method and an associative design. The research sample consisted of 127 employees selected through total sampling with a minimum work period of six months. The research instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire with 42 statements related to work stress, work discipline, work motivation, and employee performance on a 1-5 scale. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) to test validity, reliability, and relationships between variables, as well as hypothesis testing using bootstrapping techniques. The results showed that work discipline had a significant positive effect on employee performance, while work stress did not have a direct effect on performance. However, work stress had a significant effect on work motivation, and work motivation had a significant positive effect on employee performance. In addition, work discipline was also shown to increase work motivation. These findings confirm that optimal performance is not only influenced by discipline, but also by work motivation that can transform stress into productive drive. Thus, strengthening intrinsic motivation becomes an important strategy in improving employee performance in high-workload search and rescue agencies.

Abstract

This research examines the political and legal transformation of halal certification in Indonesia using the Critical Legal Studies (CLS) approach. In the last decade, halal certification has no longer served solely as an instrument of moral protection and legal certainty for Muslim consumers, but has transformed into a political and economic instrument operating within the logic of the global market. Thru normative-empirical analysis, this study reveals that halal bureaucratization thru the involvement of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) creates tension between legal and moral authorities. This phenomenon shows how religious law is institutionalized by the state and reduced to an administrative mechanism laden with economic interests and political legitimacy. Furthermore, the research found that halal regulations also contribute to the commodification of religious values, where piety and halalness become market symbols and tools for nation branding. This process has implications for the emergence of unequal access for micro and small business actors (MSMEs), who find it difficult to bear the costs and complex certification procedures. Within the framework of CLS, this condition indicates that legal norms operate within a power structure that maintains social and economic hierarchies. This research underscores the need for a more emancipatory reform of halal regulations, emphasizing substantive justice, equitable access, and integration between the values of maq??id al-syar? ‘ah and modern social justice so that halal certification does not lose its spiritual meaning as a means of public welfare.

Abstract

The halal lifestyle phenomenon in Indonesia reflects social, cultural, economic, and spiritual shifts within urban Muslim communities. This study analyzes how pious values are commodified and consumed within capitalist modernity. Using an interpretive qualitative approach with cultural ethnography, the study includes interviews, participant observation, and digital discourse analysis of halal industry actors, middle-class Muslim consumers, and the hijrah community in Medan, Deli Serdang, and Binjai. Reflexive thematic analysis and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) uncover the dynamics of meaning, symbols, and ideology in halal consumption. The findings reveal three key points: (1) the commodification of piety as an economic asset; (2) performative Muslim identity through digital media; and (3) the shift from Islamic moral economy to moral capitalism. This study offers an interdisciplinary perspective on halal lifestyle as both a consumption practice and an ideological discourse that negotiates spirituality, identity, and capitalism, contributing to the development of Islamic consumer culture and ethical business practices.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the availability and validation of the Islamic marketing model thru theoretical and empirical approaches based on the principles of maqasid al-shariah. In the last two decades, Islamic economic growth has shown a significant trend across various sectors, but the practice and research of Islamic marketing still face constraints in the validity and availability of valid measurement instruments. This study uses a systematic literature review method on Scopus and DOAJ indexed articles from 2014–2025, focusing on Islamic marketing indicators and compliance. The study results indicate that Islamic marketing does not yet have a comprehensive conceptual framework capable of fully integrating functional and spiritual dimensions. The application of maqasid al-shariah is an important foundation that emphasizes that marketing activities must be directed toward the common good, justice, and sustainability. By integrating Sharia principles into the nine elements of the product marketing mix (9Ps) – product, price, place, promotion, people, process, physical evidence, promise, and patience – a conceptual model was obtained that places ethics, spirituality, and Sharia compliance at the core of the marketing strategy. This research is expected to serve as a theoretical foundation for the development of empirical validation instruments and practical guidelines for companies to implement authentic and welfare-oriented Islamic marketing.

Abstract

Malaria remains a major public health burden in Indonesia, with Papua contributing the highest incidence nationally. Recent ecological changes, increasing human–wildlife interaction, and expanding vector habitats have raised concerns about the potential emergence of zoonotic malaria in the region. This study aims to analyze the potential risk of zoonotic malaria in Papua through a One Health perspective and assess its implications for national resilience. A descriptive qualitative literature review was conducted using scientific publications from the last five years, WHO reports, and national malaria surveillance data. Findings indicate that ecological disturbances, deforestation, and occupational exposure in forested areas increase the likelihood of spillover involving Plasmodium species such as P. knowlesi and P. cynomolgi. Limited healthcare access, high population mobility, and persistent transmission further exacerbate vulnerability. The potential emergence of zoonotic malaria poses multidimensional threats to Indonesia’s national resilience, particularly in the domains of food security, economic stability, social cohesion, and national security. Strengthening integrated surveillance, enhancing diagnostic capacity, improving environmental management, and promoting cross-sectoral collaboration are essential strategies to mitigate zoonotic malaria risks in Papua. This study highlights the importance of adopting a One Health approach to support malaria elimination efforts and safeguard national resilience
