Abstract

This study aims to analyze and formulate strategies to improve consumer purchasing decisions by enhancing trust and product innovation among culinary MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in Medan Kota. Consumer trust is one of the main factors in building loyalty and purchasing decisions, while product innovation is considered crucial for attracting consumer attention amid increasingly tight market competition. The research employs a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to consumers of culinary MSMEs located in the Medan Kota area. The population in this study consists of all culinary MSMEs in Medan Kota, the exact number of which is unknown; therefore, the Lemeshow formula with a 10% error margin was used, resulting in a sample size of 100 respondents. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to assess both the simultaneous and partial effects of the independent variables on purchasing decisions. The findings show that both trust and innovation have a significant influence, both partially and simultaneously, on purchasing decisions among culinary MSMEs in Medan Kota.

Abstract

Ngrendeng Village in Ngawi Regency, East Java, has great potential for goat farming, which produces a large amount of fecal waste. Without proper management, this waste can pollute the environment and pose health risks. The purpose of this study is to introduce a new method of converting goat waste into bokashi fertilizer, which serves as an environmentally friendly solution and a strategy to promote small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the livestock sector. Using the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach, 35 participants (farmers and SME actors) took part in a one-day training session on July 7, 2025. The training included hands-on practice, interactive discussions, and extension activities. During three weeks of fermentation, an average of 150 kilograms of bokashi was produced per batch. Participants’ knowledge scores increased by 42% (pre–post test, p < 0.05), and an estimated 30% reduction in monthly chemical fertilizer costs was achieved. The results indicate that the bokashi innovation not only improves waste management and soil fertility but also strengthens local economic independence through new business opportunities. Therefore, this innovation serves as a strategic step toward sustainable agriculture and the empowerment of SMEs based on local potential.

Abstract

The creative economy in rural areas is a crucial strategy for improving community welfare while fostering local business independence. Medan Krio Village, Sunggal District, Deli Serdang Regency, has potential but underutilized resources, particularly in household products. This community service program was designed to improve the skills of residents through dishwashing soap production training combined with digital marketing strategies. Twenty participants (n = 20) comprising housewives, youth, and small-scale MSMEs participated in the activity. Initially, residents did not understand the production process or digital marketing techniques. After training, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, participants were evaluated through a soap-making simulation. The results showed significant improvement: all participants, divided into five groups of four, were able to successfully produce dishwashing soap (100% success). Furthermore, approximately 80% of participants understood the production stages, label creation with Canva, and promotion via Instagram. The main obstacles encountered were limited capital (experienced by 55% of participants), simple production equipment, and the limited use of Canva by some elderly residents. In conclusion, this activity successfully improved technical skills, introduced simple digitalization, and opened up household business opportunities that have the potential to strengthen village entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Sebanyak 52,2% peserta pernah mengikuti kegiatan pendidikan kesehatan sebelumnya.

Abstract

The hydroponic training activity in Babulu Darat Village was carried out to support household food security through the empowerment of Posyandu cadres. This program aimed to improve participants’ knowledge and practical skills in applying the Deep Flow Technique (DFT) hydroponic system that can be implemented in home gardens. Using a participatory approach, the training included presentations, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice in assembling installations and cultivating leafy vegetables. Evaluation results based on pre-test and post-test assessments of 25 participants showed a significant improvement in knowledge, with the average score increasing from 56% to 81% after the training. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the DFT-based hydroponic training in enhancing both understanding and application skills. Participants expressed strong enthusiasm and readiness to continue developing hydroponics independently. The program contributed directly to strengthening household food security and supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 is Zero Hunger through the promotion of community-based sustainable food self-reliance.

Abstract

The Karang Sari community faces limitations in digital literacy and access to local product marketing, hindering economic independence and strengthening social and spiritual character. This activity aims to improve digital capacity, creative entrepreneurship, and religious awareness of residents through the Community Service Program (KKN) with a multidimensional approach encompassing social education, digital literacy, the creative economy, and religious activities. The method used was field-based descriptive qualitative research, involving training, mentoring, participatory observation, and documentation of primary and secondary data. The results showed that 30 MSMEs successfully created digital business accounts, improved creative product management skills, and strengthened understanding of worship and religious moderation through the Fardu Kifayah Training, Dawn Lectures, and the Pious Children Festival. The impact of this program is reflected in the increased social, economic, and spiritual capacity of the community, strengthening the independence and well-being of the local community, while simultaneously shaping children's religious character and better social awareness. Further recommendations include ongoing mentoring for the development of a more massive creative economy and digital literacy to ensure the sustainability of the positive impact.

Abstract

Malela Village, Gunung Maligas District, Simalungun Regency, faces environmental degradation due to residents’ habits of burning or indiscriminately disposing of waste. This community service program aimed to increase public awareness of environmental protection through the establishment of a Waste Bank and village greening activities. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a participatory approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed behavioral changes among residents, from burning waste in their yards to consistently disposing of it at an integrated waste facility. In addition, the tree-planting activity involving six coconut trees in the main village field received strong community support for its ecological and economic benefits. This program provided a practical solution to waste management issues, fostered environmental awareness, and strengthened community participation. The outcomes demonstrate that locally adapted, simple environmental interventions can promote sustainable environmental management and long-term socio-economic empowerment in rural areas.

Abstract

This community service research introduces a model of digitalizing green fashion through a service-learning approach implemented at Rumah Jahit Nila, a fashion MSME in Medan. The intervention includes intensive training on 3D design software such as CLO 3D and Marvelous Designer, the use of AI-assisted tools like Repsketch for pattern optimization, and production mentoring throughout a 12-month project cycle. Measurements show an increase in students' average technical competency scores from 55.1 to 76.9, representing a gain of 21.8 points. Partner evaluation was conducted through satisfaction questionnaires and field observations, both of which indicated positive acceptance of digital patterns and user guides. Claims regarding waste reduction and material efficiency are currently indicative, as direct quantitative metrics such as percentage reduction in fabric use or paper pattern sheets are not yet available; thus, further measurement is recommended. This study offers a replicable digital technology-based community service model for empowering sustainable fashion MSMEs.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the management capacity of the Manggar Batik SME in Sumber Village, Kradenan District, Blora Regency, through the implementation of a simple accounting system, innovative batik product designs, the use of appropriate technology in the production process, and a digital-based marketing strategy transformation. The background to this activity is the socioeconomic conditions in Blora Regency, which still faces a high poverty rate (11.49% in 2023), limited competitiveness of local batik products, and limited market access for SMEs to consumers outside the region. Program implementation methods include outreach, technical and managerial training, the application of production technology (feeder tools and paper stamp techniques), digital marketing assistance through e-commerce, and sustainability evaluation and follow-up. The program implementation involves strategic collaboration between universities and SME partners through participatory knowledge and technology transfer. The results of the activity show significant improvements in several aspects: a more organized financial recording system, the successful development and registration of innovative batik motif designs for intellectual property rights (IPR), increased production efficiency and consistency through the use of feeder tools, and expanded market reach through digital marketing. The contribution of this activity not only strengthens the competitiveness of the Manggar Batik SME and opens up opportunities to increase local community income, but also supports the achievement of university performance indicators and regional development goals, particularly related to poverty alleviation and the development of a creative economy based on local culture.
