The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which involves several stages, In cycle 1, the use of interactive media in learning was not yet complete, but when tested as an initial form, the results obtained were temporarily positive student responses marked by 42% of students participating in the learning process. So the researcher decided to continue the research to cycle 2. in cycles 2 and 3 each consists of 3 stages of research carried out by the researcher. Namely the planning stage which functions as steps as a procedural guide. Then the implementation stage which functions as the process of implementing interactive media in the form of Kahoot. The last stage is analysis and reflection as a process to review the effectiveness of learning using interactive kahoot! media in the learning system in class XII Sociology 3. Students have shown positive responses to the use of Kahoot! and find it interesting and fun. Abstract

Conflict is an inherent phenomenon in social life and a major challenge in multicultural societies. Differences in values, social status, power, and the unequal distribution of resources often serve as the primary triggers of conflict. This study aims to analyze conflict from the perspective of multicultural education and explore the role of education in mitigating social tensions. Through a theoretical literature-based analysis, this study finds that multicultural education plays a strategic role in fostering social awareness and competencies to create harmony in diverse societies. The key findings of this study indicate that conflict in multicultural societies can be explained through various theoretical perspectives. Marx views conflict as a consequence of class inequalities and the unjust distribution of resources, while Gurr emphasizes that dissatisfaction with structural injustice is a primary factor driving conflict. Meanwhile, Collier"™s greed and grievance theory suggests that conflict arises either from political and economic exploitation by dominant groups or as a reaction to injustices experienced by marginalized groups. In this context, multicultural education based on social justice can serve as a solution to address conflicts by ensuring equal access to education and socio-economic opportunities for all social groups. The implications of this study highlight that multicultural education should not remain a mere normative discourse but should be developed into a systematic and sustainable approach to fostering an inclusive and harmonious society. Multicultural education models such as content-oriented programs, student-oriented programs, and socially-oriented programs are recommended as practical strategies to enhance cross-cultural understanding and strengthen social solidarity. Therefore, multicultural education can play a crucial role in reducing social conflicts and promoting stronger social cohesion in diverse societies.

Abstract

This research aims to address the low learning participation of grade XII Sociology TL 3 students at SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak by implementing a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model combined with a scientific approach. The study, conducted as Classroom Action Research (CAR), was carried out in two cycles with 38 students. The research problem was identified through preliminary observations, revealing that students were passive, rarely asked questions, and exhibited low engagement during sociology lessons. Data collection techniques included classroom observations, which were used to measure student participation based on scientific approach indicators (observing, questioning, collecting information, reasoning, and communicating) and learning participation indicators (expressing opinions, answering questions, asking questions, providing arguments, and completing assignments). The findings showed that student participation increased from 64.8% in the first cycle to 89.4% in the second cycle, achieving the research performance target of ≥80%. This improvement was due to additional treatments in the second cycle, including optimizing group collaboration by assigning specific roles (discussion leader, recorder, presenter, and questioner) to ensure each student had clear responsibilities. Additionally, teachers provided more active guidance, used more relevant and engaging learning media, and facilitated deeper discussions to enhance student interaction. The results confirm that the integration of PBL and the scientific approach effectively increases student participation, fosters critical thinking, and creates an interactive and collaborative learning environment in sociology lessons.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine the socio-economic conditions and overall welfare of communities in the border region of Kecamatan Sajingan Besar, Sambas Regency. The research addresses the gap in literature concerning the multidimensional aspects of welfare in border areas, where economic opportunities are interlaced with vulnerabilities. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through purposive sampling and semi-structured interviews with local residents, community leaders, village officials, and economic actors. Analysis of the data reveals that the majority of the population possesses only basic education, significantly limiting access to competitive job opportunities and perpetuating economic instability. With 66.4% of residents engaged in agriculture, the local economy is highly dependent on seasonal outputs and lacks diversification, resulting in fluctuating incomes and vulnerability to external shocks. Although community-based health services such as Posyandu play a crucial role in providing essential care, the overall access to quality healthcare remains inadequate. Additionally, low levels of social participation and limited access to information further hinder community development. The discussion emphasizes that these interrelated factors"”educational deficits, economic dependence on agriculture, insufficient healthcare, and weak social cohesion"”contribute to sustained low welfare levels. The study concludes by recommending integrated, context-specific policy interventions aimed at improving educational access, diversifying economic activities, enhancing healthcare services, and fostering stronger community engagement to promote sustainable development in this border region.

Abstract

The digital era has significantly reshaped social interactions, production processes, and the construction of social identities, particularly through the emergence of content creators on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. This study aims to explore how money, as conceptualized by Georg Simmel, influences the social lives of content creators and how it serves as both a material and symbolic force within digital spaces. The urgency of this research lies in the growing complexity of monetization practices that blur the boundaries between economic value and social recognition. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature review method, this study critically analyzes various scholarly articles, books, and relevant digital content to synthesize theoretical insights with contemporary phenomena. The findings reveal that the objectification of social relationships through money aligns with the commodification of content and the increasing pressure creators face to meet audience expectations and algorithmic demands. While money provides creators with economic opportunities and social recognition, it simultaneously constrains their creativity and authenticity. This duality raises important questions about the implications of monetization on social values and identity formation in the digital realm. The study contributes to theoretical discussions on Simmel"™s philosophy of money by highlighting its relevance to understanding power dynamics, commodification, and social hierarchies in the digital economy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the shift in learning motivation among high-achieving and non-academic students at SMA Sutomo 1 Medan. From a sociological perspective, learning motivation is influenced by socio-cultural factors that shape students' perceptions of success. This qualitative study uses a descriptive approach, utilizing primary data obtained from in-depth interviews, observations and documentation of 18 high-achieving students from grades X, XI, and XII. In addition, this study also uses a questionnaire by distributing an online google form questionnaire as a secondary data collection process to validate the truth of the qualitative research results. The research findings indicate a shift in students' learning motivation, where learning is no longer driven primarily by the development of self-knowledge but more by the desire to make parents proud. This study highlights how cultural education patterns from various ethnic backgrounds shape students' motivation, shifting them from intrinsic to extrinsic goals. These findings provide insights for teachers, schools, and parents to foster positive learning motivation. Further research is encouraged to explore the influence of multicultural education on learning motivation.

A social group can use social capital to overcome their problems. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Social capital that develops in the Jono salt production center includes klakah as an adhesive for the relationship between Jono salt farmers and the cooperative relationships built by Jono salt farmers with middlemen and capital providers. Klakah is a social capital medium facilitating social interaction and internalizing collective values. Relationships with middlemen are established in the Jono salt distribution system. Capital providers consist of banks that provide business credit, village cooperatives, and fellow Jono salt farmers who offer financial assistance in a loan scheme.  Bonding social capital is reflected in the togetherness and cooperative attitude of Jono salt farmers. Meanwhile, bridging social capital can be found in the networks built by Jono salt farmers, both among themselves and with outside parties such as middlemen and capital providers. Social capital is useful in supporting the sustainability of the Jono salt farming business.
