Abstract

Entering the era of free trade, business competition between companies is getting tighter. This condition requires companies to always develop company strategies so that they can survive or develop further. Therefore, companies need to develop an appropriate strategy in order to survive, develop and be competitive. One strategy that can be carried out by companies is by merger. A merger is the process of combining two entities with one of them remaining under its entity name, while the other disappears. Margers can affect organizational members in many ways, resulting in diverse emotional experiences, which will likely influence individual behavior and determine the success of managing a merger. Negative emotions experienced by company leaders are stress, fear, worry, and insecurity, mainly triggered by ambiguity regarding their future roles and the roles of their subordinates in the newly joined organization. Work stress can affect the merger process and reduce work productivity, so coping is needed to deal with these problems. Coping carried out can be different. The number of respondents in this study was 4 respondents with qualifications for the positions of deputy head, section head and sub-section head. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method. The research results showed that each respondent showed different responses in dealing with sources of stress and the coping strategies they used. This source of stress has an impact on the success of the merger process.

Abstract

Good soil is soil that has good stability and load-bearing capacity for any construction built on it. However, the existing soil conditions may not possess sufficient load-bearing capacity, necessitating a method to improve it. For instance, in North Sumatra, the soil is relatively soft and predominantly used for agriculture. Rice husk ash is a byproduct of rice farming and exhibits pozzolanic properties, making it a potential alternative for enhancing soil load-bearing capacity. Typically, soft soil is fine-grained, has high moisture content, high saturation, high porosity, high initial pore pressure, low shear strength, and significant potential for settlement under increasing effective stress. This research aims to improve soil load-bearing capacity by using rice husk ash with varying mixtures of 0%, 4%, 8%, 12%, 16%, and 20%. Soil samples were collected in the Lubuk Pakam area of North Sumatra. Testing included soil physical properties, such as soil index properties, and soil mechanics tests conducted in the soil mechanics laboratory at the University of Santo Thomas, Medan.Based on the tests, the soil was categorized as organic soil, highly cohesive, and had high plasticity. According to the USCS classification, it falls into the fine-grained or organic soil category with the symbol PT. The CBR values after 7 days of curing with various lime additions of 0%, 4%, 8%, 12%, 16%, and 20% were found to be 0.98, 1.18, 2.00, 4.80, 13.00, and 18.80, respectively. Therefore, it can be concluded that the higher the proportion of rice husk ash in the mixture, the higher the CBR value. This can potentially enhance farmers' income through rice husk sales.

Abstract

The development of technology and information in Indonesia is very rapid which has made internet and social media users in Indonesia continue to experience a very significant increase. The diversity and convenience provided by the internet makes its users experience an increase in the time they access it and always have the desire to check their social media accounts, one of which is Instagram social media. This phenomenon is often called the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO). FoMO is a fear, discomfort, always wanting to know other people's activities, and a feeling of missing moments that arises in an individual. FoMO can make an individual's behavior focus only on the outside world, thus making him lose his identity and focus more on others than himself. This can become an anxiety and fear that will affect the personality of its users or can be called the big five personality. The Indonesian people are also very enthusiastic about finding information related to promotions, so one of the accounts, @giladiskonn, uses this, which provides information about culinary promos, traveling, fashion, and others. Based on this, the researcher conducted a study to find out whether there was an influence of the big five personality on Fear of Missing Out on social media Instagram @giladiskonn. This research method is quantitative and collects data from questionnaires distributed via Instagram to followers of @giladiskonn. Then the data is processed in SPSS version 25 for windows and the results show that there is a significant influence of the big five personality on the fear of missing out on promotional content @giladiskonn.

Abstract

The main aim of qualitative research is to explore and provide deeper, comprehensive and detailed description of phenomena rather than quantifying data and testing hypotheses. Notably, qualitative research describes and explains relationships, individual experiences and group norms. The objective of this article is, thus, to explore and describe the essence, types and advantages of qualitative research through a systematic review of related literature. Accordingly, the types/designs under qualitative research are: narrative, grounded theory, phenomenology, case study and ethnography. Moreover, sampling methods under qualitative research are mainly, purposive, criterion, convenience and snowballing. On the other hand, data in qualitative studies are collected by use of interview guides/schedules, focus group discussions and observation (non-participant and participant). Consequently, the advantages of qualitative studies include: flexibility and spontaneity (allows for the adaptation of interview items as the research progresses and need arises), does not require a large study sample, offers the opportunity to meet the respondents, encourages discussion with the participants, allows for the collection and interpretation of non-verbal cues (smiles, frowns, tears) and offers the opportunity to seek clarification, probe further and gain deeper understanding. Notably, the direct involvement of the researcher provides him/her the opportunity to get relevant responses.

Abstract

The change in behavior from miners back to farmers requires the people of Palaluar Nagari to reclaim their land, which is generally a former gold mine. However, natural land reclamation takes quite a long time and costs a lot of money so it needs support from various parties, especially the government. Government of Palaluar Nagari, in order to improve land to achieve food security, launched a program based on sustainable agriculture. Sustainable tourism development by utilizing local resources does not only focus on environmental aspects but also economic and social aspects of the community. The implementation of land reclamation is carried out by developing educational tourism which involves tourists in reclaiming land, which includes two edutourism packages, namely the Sitampan Edutourism Package and the Sikamek Edutourism Package which are based on an integrated farming system and are a form of sustainable tourism. The research aims to examine the potential for developing sustainable agriculture-based education tourism in Palaluar Nagari using descriptive methods. The development of educational tourism on reclaimed land from a former gold mine in Nagari Palaluar based on sustainable agriculture has development potential because it provides positive impacts from social, economic and environmental aspects.

Abstract

Leadership behavior towards work discipline has a constant emphasis on the role of leadership behavior and on the interdependence between behavior towards tasks, relationships, employee maturity and work discipline. The concept of applied leadership pertains to the engagement of subordinates in active participation within organizational activities. Leadership holds significant meaning within environmental organizations as it serves to exert influence and allocate resources towards the attainment of objectives. Leadership is significant in environmental organizations because it provides influence and guides resources toward accomplishing objectives. The aim of this research is to provide a comprehensive description and evaluation of employees' behavior in task completion, interactions within work relationships, and their level of maturity in adhering to work discipline. This study employs a measurement tool known as the Likert Scale, which consists of response options such as "strongly agree," "agree," "disagree," and "strongly disagreeā€. The required data consists of both primary and secondary data. The findings of this study indicate that task behavior, relationship behavior, and employee maturity have a significant impact on employee work discipline. The significant influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable is shown by a contribution value of 6.23% with a significance F of 0.000. The remaining 3.37% is influenced by other variables outside the 3 variables studied, so the first hypothesis is accepted. The task behavior (X1), relationship behavior (X2), employee maturity (X3) have a significant impact on the employee work discipline variable (Y), therefore supporting the second hypothesis.

Abstract

The prosecutor's office is the only state institution which is a government apparatus that has the authority to delegate criminal cases, prosecute perpetrators of criminal acts in court and carry out decisions and decisions of criminal judges. This power is a characteristic of the prosecutor's office which differentiates it from other law enforcement institutions or agencies. other. In implementing the Judge's decision, the Prosecutor has the authority to execute the evidence by destroying or confiscating it for the benefit of the state or returning the evidence to its rightful owner in accordance with the decision determined by the Panel of Judges. In the event of confiscation of evidence for state interests, the Indonesian Prosecutor's Office also plays a role in managing the evidence. The prosecutor's office uses several methods or mechanisms to manage this evidence, which in practice is very important and crucial, especially in the use and income of state treasury. Based on the research results, it was found that regarding the management of evidence obtained by investigators, it cannot necessarily be managed by the prosecutor's office, but rather has a process so that it can ultimately be confiscated for the state and managed by the prosecutor's office. This process is important for the internal bureaucracy of the Prosecutor's Office as well as the transparency and efficiency of the work carried out by the Prosecutor's Office.

(2) Test whether the confiscation of assets of perpetrators that were not obtained from criminal acts of corruption can also be carried out. This research uses empirical normative juridical research methods. The primary data used is interviews with investigators at the Prosecutor's Office, while the secondary data used is the Law on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes and the Law on Prevention and, the Criminal Procedure Code and the Criminal Code, then the tertiary data is from books and journals. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the mechanism for confiscating the assets of perpetrators of criminal acts of corruption uses 2 methods, namely: through criminal channels (in personam forfeiture), and through civil channels (in rem forfeiture). Apart from that, confiscation can be carried out on the assets of perpetrators of criminal acts of corruption, even if these assets were not obtained from criminal acts of corruption, as a consequence of the perpetrator's actions who must be held accountable for their actions which have harmed state finances.
