Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of a compost fertilizer combination consisting of cow dung and corn cobs on soil chemical properties. This study employed a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments: P0 = No Treatment, P1 = 10% / Polybag, P2 = 15% / Polybag, P3 = 20% / Polybag, and P4 = 25% / Polybag. Each treatment was repeated four times. The results showed that the application of compost fertilizer had a significant effect on soil chemical characteristics, specifically organic matter, total N, CEC, P?O?, and K?O. The treatment with the highest increase was in the P4 = 25% / polybag treatment. With every increase in dose, there is an increase in soil chemical characteristics. Compost fertilizer, made from a combination of cow dung and corn cobs, can be used as an organic fertilizer to improve soil quality.

Abstract

This study was conducted at a plantation in PT. PP. London Sumatra Indonesia Tbk (Lonsum) in Tanjung Morawa, North Sumatra, to determine its suitability for optimal oil palm growth. The main parameters analyzed included total pore space, specific gravity, particle specific gravity, soil texture, pH, and soil water content at two depths (0-20 cm and 0-40 cm). Findings showed good porosity, allowing adequate air circulation and water retention. The surface soil (0-20 cm) was relatively loose with a specific gravity of 38%, becoming slightly denser at 0-40 cm (42%), but still within the acceptable range. The particle specific gravity indicated higher organic matter content in the topsoil. Soil texture changed from sandy loam (0-20 cm) to loamy sand (0-40 cm), providing a balanced environment for root development, drainage, and nutrient retention. Consistent acidic pH (4.2–5.9) was observed at both depths, indicating stable conditions. Soil water content increased with depth, indicating better water retention in deeper layers. Overall, the physical properties of the soil in Lonsum support healthy and productive oil palm cultivation, underscoring the importance of detailed soil analysis for sustainable management practices.

Abstract

Jamu siap seduh merupakan inovasi dari jamu tradisional yang dikemas dalam bentuk serbuk instan agar lebih praktis dan mudah dikonsumsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kesukaan konsumen terhadap jamu siap seduh melalui uji organoleptik serta menganalisis kelayakan finansial dari segi pengeluaran, keuntungan, harga pokok penjualan (HPP), dan nilai R/C ratio. Uji organoleptik dilakukan terhadap empat parameter yaitu warna, aroma, rasa, dan tekstur dengan melibatkan 50 orang sebagai responden dari berbagai latar belakang. Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa sampel A memperoleh nilai tinggi terutama pada rasa dan warna yang termasuk dalam kategori “sangat suka”. Dalam analisis finansial total biaya produksi yang dikeluarkan lebih rendah dibandingkan total pendapatan yang diperoleh, menunjukkan bahwa usaha ini memberikan keuntungan. Harga pokok penjualan per kemasa dihitung sebesar Rp 11.914 dengan harga jual sebesar Rp 25.000, menghasilkan R/C Ratio 2,1. Nilai menunjukkan bahwa setiap Rp 1 biaya produksi dapat menghasilkan Rp 2,1 pendapatan yang artinya usaha ini layak dan menguntungkan. Produk jamu siap seduh pada penelitian ini disukai oleh konsumen dan memiliki potensi yang baik untuk dikembangkan secara komersial sebagai alternatif jamu tradisional yang lebih praktis.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the effectiveness  of adding  a simple greenhouse made of bamboo in increasing the production capacity of momotaro tomatoes in the Jaya Lestari Farmers Group and describe the business development process from financial and non-financial aspects. The market demand for momotaro  tomatoes shows that demand is increasing, while the production capacity of farmer groups is still limited and has not been able to meet demand efficiently. The results of the study were evidenced by the t-test values of paired samples showing a significant increase in production of p-values smaller than 0.05. The analysis of NPV financial feasibility is IDR 304,525,316, internal rate of return (IRR) is 56.79%, Net B/C is 3.34, and Gross B/C is 1.67, and payback period of two years and three months of return, which shows that this business is successful to run. The results of the sensitivity analysis show that the business is relatively stable to input costs, but sensitive to production failures. The application of greenhouses has proven to be effective in increasing production and is feasible for businesses to run. However, a managerial strategy is needed to ensure production stability so that business operations remain stable to increase production and profitability so that business operations remain stable.

Abstract

Coffee commodities have a large contribution to the international market because coffee can be a raw material for various industries in the world market. Indonesia is an international coffee exporter and the world's main coffee importer is the United States. With the conditions of coffee exports and imports in the international market, various variables can affect the level of international trade. The purpose of this study is to understand the variables that can affect the volume of Indonesian coffee exports to the United States. The basis of the descriptive research method, data type and quantitative data origin and time series in secondary data for 45 years from 1975 to 2020, with the VECM analysis technique. This study shows that in the long term, Indonesian HS 090111 coffee is influenced by global tea prices, global sugar prices, global coffee prices, real exchange rates and US GDP. In the short term, the global coffee price of the previous two years can affect the capacity of Indonesian coffee exports to the United States. The volume of Indonesian coffee exports is influenced by several variables that cannot be controlled by Indonesia, so the government needs to increase coffee production.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of biopesticides derived from pineapple peel extract (Ananas comosus) and sawdust biochar in controlling pests in eggplant (Solanum melongena). The research was conducted over 14 weeks at the Laboratorium Pengamatan Hama Penyakit dan Agens Hayati, UPT Pusat Pengembangan Benih dan Proteksi Tanaman, Cibubur, Jakarta Timur, using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors: biopesticide concentration (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%) and biochar application (0 g and 500 g). Parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, and the intensity of aphid (Aphis gossypii) infestation. The analysis results showed that the treatments of biopesticide, biochar, and their interaction did not significantly affect plant growth and pest resistance statistically. However, descriptively the combination of the two factors showed a positive trend on the vegetative growth of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena). These results indicate that organic waste such as pineapple peels and sawdust has potential as an environmentally friendly pest control agent.

Abstract

Oil palm is one of the plantation commodities with high economic value. Post-harvest processing at an industrial scale generates substantial waste, which requires proper management to prevent environmental pollution. Oil palm waste contains organic materials that can be utilized to help improve soil fertility. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of applying oil palm waste in enhancing the growth of oil palm seedlings. The research used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design (3 x 3 x 3), indicating the presence of three factors, each consisting of three levels. Factor 1 was Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB) of oil palm, Factor 2 was the dosage of boiler ash, and Factor 3 was the dosage of nitrogen element from urea fertilizer, resulting in 27 treatment combinations. Each treatment was replicated five times, bringing the total number of plants in this study to 135. Data were analyzed with and F-test; at a 5% significance level, further analysis was using Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT). The results indicated that the application of solid oil palm waste, such as EFB, boiler ash, and nitrogen supplementation, did not significantly affect plant growth. The most effective and optimal dosage for promoting oil palm seedling growth was found in the treatment N2P2Q1 (30 g EFB + 30 g boiler ash + 2 g nitrogen). Based on these findings, increasing the dosage of EFB is recommended to further maximize the growth of oil palm seedlings. The results of this study can be utilized by the palm oil industry to integrate waste such as empty fruit bunches (EFB) and boiler ash into site-specific sustainable fertilization systems, thereby helping to reduce dependence on inorganic fertilizers, improve soil fertility, and support better environmental management.

Abstract

Farmer regeneration in Indonesia is an urgent problem. Various efforts and programs have been organized by the government in order to increase the interest of generation Z to be interested in the agricultural sector but have not been optimal. The government finally collaborated with universities and industry in a certified internship scheme in a modern agricultural program. The Farmhill, through the YAIP Program, has succeeded in getting more than 10,000 students to register for this program. So far, there has been no standardized internship curriculum from the government. It is important to study by analyzing the attitudes and interests of generation Z in the YAIP program and the sustainability strategy of its internship curriculum. Respondents were 90 people from the total participants of YAIP Batch 1-2. Generation Z has a positive attitude from the TRA. Clarity of the program timeline, description of program implementation, ease of access to information, participant involvement, support from field supervisors and fellow participants, and the existence of program evaluations are the most important attributes considered by Generation Z. For the government, the curriculum from the YAIP The Farmhill program can be used as a reference for developing curriculum standardization with other industries.

Abstract

Corn-based analog rice is one of the new products developed by PT. HDN. Analog rice is a local food innovation made from corn and cassava ingredients that is presented as a healthy food alternative with a low glycemic index and high fiber. This research aims to determine consumer acceptance of the product. Data collection from respondents was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents who met the criteria. The data obtained were analyzed using the Importance-Performance analysis and Customer Satisfaction Index methods. The aspects studied include product, packaging, price & promotion. The attributes that are the main priorities are the aroma of rice, the aroma of cooked rice, the taste of cooked rice, the ease of opening and resealing the packaging, the presence of online promotions, and the ease of obtaining the product offline. The CSI result obtained was 75.82%, indicating that the level of consumer satisfaction with the corn analog rice product falls into the "satisfied" category.

Abstract

Pakchoy (Brassica rapa) is a leafy vegetable belonging to the Brassicaceae family (cruciferous vegetables) and is known for its high economic value. This study aimed to determine the effect of cow manure fertilizer and liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) made from rice washing water on the growth and yield of pakchoy plants. The research was conducted at Jl. Komisi C, Pulo Brayan Bengkel Baru, Medan Timur District, Medan City, North Sumatra. A Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) was used, consisting of two treatment factors. The first factor was cow manure fertilizer (S) with four levels: S0 = 0 g, S1 = 375 g, S2 = 500 g, and S3 = 625 g. The second factor was rice washing water LOF (B) with four levels: B0 = 0 ml/L, B1 = 150 ml/L, B2 = 250 ml/L, and B3 = 350 ml/L. There were 16 treatment combinations, each replicated three times. The results showed that the most effective treatment was the combination of S3 and B3, using 625 g of cow manure and 350 ml/L of liquid organic fertilizer, which significantly improved the growth and productivity of pakchoy. Application of cow manure fertilizer had no significant effect on plant height and number of leaves but had a significant effect on leaf width and a highly significant effect on stem diameter and plant weight. Meanwhile, the application of rice washing water LOF had no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, or stem diameter, but showed a significant effect on plant weight.
