Abstract

This study aimed to determine the technical and resource-use efficiency of East Java. The secondary data were used from the Paddy Cultivation Household Survey ST2013 handled by BPS-Statistics Indonesia. The data was cross-sectional and were derived from ST2013 in 2014. The stochastic frontier analysis analyzed the factors that drive rice output and quantified rice production's technical efficiency. In contrast, the marginal value product-marginal factor cost (MVP-MFC) approach was used to quantify resource-use efficiency in rice production. The SFA indicated that these factors positively affect rice output except for seed, fertilizer, labor, and land utilization. However, other factors were considered apart from the land size, such as exaggerated land and labor advantage in production and bad seed and fertilizer utilization. Technical efficiency varies considerably among rice farmers, ranging from 1 percent to 100 percent, with an average of 89 percent. Their technical inefficiency was influenced by their group membership, irrigation, credit, education level, and farmer age - external farm insect pests. The government and the private sector are involved in the programs through farmer groups. Abstract

The fluctuation of rice production in Indonesia over the last 5 years shows a downward trend due to a decrease in land area and increase risks. A government's effort to overcome the risks of rice farming is to establish rice farming insurance (AUTP). This research aims to analyze the factors that influence farmers' decisions to join rice farming insurance (AUTP) and how the impact of rice farming insurance on farming income in Indonesia. The data used was secondary data from the survey results from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in 2018. The number of samples was 470 farmers, consisting of 122 farmers who joined rice farming insurance and 358 farmers who did not take rice farming insurance. Data were analyzed using logistic regression and propensity score matching (PSM) methods. The results show that the variables of education level, participation in socialization, perceptions of decreased production, and production significantly influenced farmers' decisions to join rice farming insurance. The impact of insurance on farm income shows that the average farm income of farmers who follow rice farming insurance is higher than farmers who did not join rice farming insurance. Therefore, the government continued to encourage the implementation of the rice farming insurance program to increase the level of farmer participation and sustainability of the AUTP program. Abstract

CPO prices fluctuation cause price uncertainty formed in the future. Hedging is an activity carried out by market participants to mitigate the risk of price fluctuations. The Covid-19 pandemic disrupts the supply and demand of CPO, affecting price alteration, especially in the spot and futures markets. This study determines market efficiency and the CPO price asymmetry relationship between the Medan spot market, the Jakarta futures market, the Malaysian futures market, and the Rotterdam forward market prior to and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data used in this study are daily price data on each market from January 2016 to December 2020. They are analyzed using the NARDL model. There is a price asymmetry relationship between the spot and futures markets preceding and during the covid-19 pandemic. The increase in CPO prices causes a more significant impact than the decline in prices in the long term. In addition, there is also a long-term and short-term efficient relationship between the spot market and the futures market for CPO commodities. Thus, the hedging function performed by the CPO commodity market participants will run effectively. Keywords: CPO Price, NARDL Model, Market Efficiency, Cointegration, Pandemic Covid-19

Abstract

Organizational knowledge is a combination of individual’s knowledge within the organization. Specialize individual knowledge is developed inside the organization. Therefore, it should belong to the organization and be stored in the organization. The Industrial Automation (IA) department implements simple knowledge management (KM) in the form of a web blog. However, the KM implementation becomes inconsistent. This inconsistency can lead to knowledge loss and knowledge gaps if there are individual changes within the organization. This study aims to analyze the condition of the IA department’s KM, analyze the factors that affect the sustainability of IA’s KM and formulate strategies for the sustainability of IA’s KM. The analysis of KM is carried out with the following factors: culture, training and development, reward, performance system, and technology. Supervisor’s order is still something that can help to build the knowledge-sharing habit. Employees do not get training regularly. Employees feel that they have not received good appreciation for the knowledge sharing and have not been included in the performance appraisal. Technology has been well adopted in KM. SEM-PLS analysis shows that training and development is a significant factor of KM sustainability. SEM-PLS result and content analysis construct managerial implication and KM sustainability strategies formula: develop a yearly training plan, establish problem-solving forum, and improving KMS implementation.
